Hopes And Dreams (Chapter 16)
08:00, 31 December 2016Quote: "If you truly believe in something, you can do it" (unless it's flying)
Somewhere...
My head pounds as I wake up. I look around quickly and see....trees.
I stand up and look at my surroundings. Trees, dirt, etc. Earth? I was dead, why am I back? I was in the same spot where I had "died". I somehow reformed, even though that was impossible. I begin to question my sanity when a portal opens infront of me.
Lady Chaos appears very urgently. She waves her hand and suddenly the world turns white, and I am standing on nothing.
"Dont worry, this is the astral plane, no time is passing and you wont fall. This is a private area to speak, and I have a few things that need to be cleared up." She says.
"I have a few questions myself. I dont even know what happened either." I say.
She sighs. "I saw it. It was amazing too. You managed to make Order rest for a long time. Let me explain. Order wanted Law to capture Artemis and Thalia to make you devoid of hope. He knew your story, and that you were most likely the biggest threat to his plan. However, kidnapping your friends only made you more determined, more hopeful. Your hope was so strong, when you grabbed Order, it was as if your hands were made of fire. This is what nobody knows. Beings as powerful as us cannot be killed by weapons, but by influences. You have accomplished the biggest feat of all to beat one of us. But the battle is not over, when Order died, his power scattered. It brought you back to Earth, but also blessed every monster on Earth as well. Artemis and Thalia have also been teleported to Olympus, since I guess you wished for their safety too." She machine gunned out.
"There is almost no chance for survival for Olympus. The demigods will not win. Even with you, the tides are still in their favor. The timeline is unstable. Order used all his power to insure his win, even if he has to reform much longer. This future is doomed unless we win, somehow. However, a prophecy has been given to us all. The creator himself has given every demigod, god, you, and me this information but did not reveal himself. Now everyone knows this prophecy, but it does not sound good at all."
The end is near, when evil surpassesAn age's end, Olympus collapses
Heroes will fight until their very last breathBut to no avail from Monster's wrath
Gods will fall, forever erasedDarkness rises, never replaced
The last battle is nearFate is almost here
The world holds one last chancePercy Jackson, the true savior at first glance
From Iron From Ice (Game of Thrones reference)He must pay the price.
I stay still, soaking in each word. Prophecies never used specific names. This really is the end, unless I stop it.Chaos looks at me, knowing I was shocked. She was too, but now was not the time.
"I know, its weird, but you are our last hope, even I cannot save the world, there is not enough hope in the world, and I grow weaker each second. Demigods, gods, and mortals alike are convinced that this is the end." She says
"What do I do? I can't do it all!" I exclaim
"Yes you can, what was your reputation again? Doing the impossible. I wish you luck, I have a certain thing to do." She says as she teleports out. Leaving me in dismay.
I sigh at her logic. She was right, I did need to do this.I need a plan. How does one even begin to defeat every known monster?
I teleport to Olympus to a bad sign. The gods have left to fight Typhon, and chaos is erupting in the area, minor gods and goddesses are panicking. I look at a TV, and it was bad. Nearly 50% of all demigods were dead. How could this happen? My heart skips a beat until I see it. Law is back. He is wearing battle armor and a spear, leading an army towards who knows what.
What I also see is just as bad. Kronos, Krios, Perses, Oceanus, Hyperion, all of them causing havoc everywhere. This is ridiculous, I almost feel like giving up already, what chance do I have?
I take a deep breath before I think of a plan. I concentrate deeply and fire warp. I did not teleport myself, but I teleported every remaining demigod, god, and my friends.
Soon, infront of me was all the demigods left, the hunters, The Olympians, Chiron, and Jason, Piper, Leo, Reyna, Hazel, and Frank. However, Annabeth and Jack were not there.
All of them looked at me questioningly until I started shouting.
"Okay all of you, now is not the time to argue. Each of you know the Prophecy, and I have fire-warped you here to conserve our numbers. We need to unite to win." I said.
The crowd shifts, and some Olympians appear.
"We do not take orders from demigods." Athena snapped.
"I am not just a demigod, and if you want the world to end, thats fine, but some of us want to live." I say angrily.
Athena backs down, and I see a change.
The demigods have no problem, while many are surprised I am here, Chiron explained who I was and my story. Some gods happily united, some hesitated. After some talking, we prepared for battle.
I stopped when I saw Artemis and Thalia preparing. I pulled them both aside and started talking.
"I....I am sorry I couldn't save you guys, I should ha-" I started but was cut off as I was slapped by both women. It didn't hurt, but I get the message.
"It wasn't your fault we were captured, you tried your hardest, even if you did fail. Heck, you literally died for us, why would we be mad?" Thalia said.
"It was a valiant effort, for a man. In fact, we were told that you were the one that got us out." Artemis finished.
We talked for a bit until I left to prepare myself.
I put on Chaos' s gloves, my suit underneath, my helmet, and Bane and Riptide on my back. The gloves transformed into armor, and the sunglasses into a helmet. I could feel the adrenaline pumping, so much that I felt some fire in the suit. Like Riptide, the blue flames encased the suit, and when the fire dissapated, the golden armor turned into a black armor with blue flames etched in it. The helmet combined with the armor, to my surprise. The armor was intricate, with shoulder guards, gauntlets, chest plates, boots, etc. I looked like a futuristic knight.
Many demigods and gods alike looked at me when it changed. Demigods were jealous, Gods were surprised.
I really did look threatening, with Bane and Riptide in hand. I noticed a button on both swords, and a note.
Enjoy
★Chaos
Riptide transformed into a shield, a bright blue and gold and was most likely unbreakable. Bane transformed into an SMG, oddly. It had infinite bullets since there was no storage spaces for them, and the bullets were made from celestial bronze, and dissapeared after a while.
I looked in amazement, it was pretty awesome, and I would need them soon.
We devised a plan, Gods would fight the big hitters, the Giants, Titans, Typhon, and anything too big for Demigods, who would fight monsters such as empusai, hellhounds, smaller giants, etc.
Me? I would be fighting everything that I could. My goal was to fight Law. Chaos told me that Order's "residue" was infused with Law. Law was now much more powerful, his body was now a puppet for Order.
Law was extremely inteligent, and physically strong. The first Prophecy told of a traitor, and that I would find him/her. I never did find a traitor, but I am thinking Law is someone who was on our side, not many people know where the Hunter's camp is.
There isn't enough time to find out who he is, but I am betting it is Jack, but I could be wrong. I hope I am not, because I really, really want to punch that face.
We need to keep Olympus safe, since if it is invaded, we lose. Once Olympus falls, everything will, the Mortal world is important, but can be rebuilt easily.
Normally, the only way to Olympus would be through the elevator, but Law is able to teleport his army right outside the gates, but cannot teleport directly in here due to the protective magic in Olympus.
We will lose many demigods, but we cannot lose.
The Gods have been sent out to the mortal world to take down Typhon and the Titans, leaving the rest to us.We wait at the large gates where Law's army will appear, since this is the only spot that could fit an army.People take positions, trying to utilize our home advantage. Several Romans carry large shields that cover their whole body, and the Hunters take place behind them, creating a very effective tactic. Romans block with shields, Hunters shoot over them. Greek Campers either take a shield or a bow.
We wait for the door to explode any second, and I take position at the front.
...
....
...
nothing.
I begin to wonder where everyone is until I hear screaming from the back of our army. Our army turns in shock as the archers in the back are being killed by Monsters. How did they get past us?
And then I realize.
Maybe they were more powerful than we thought. They managed to teleport behind our gates and us, taking out the archers easily. We underrestimated them, and we get the consequences.
"Fall back!" I shout
The remaining demigods hurry behind a barricade made from collapsed buildings. The few archers left stand behind the barricade, as well as some soldiers. The rest of us are in front with me leading.
Law comes out from the large horde of monsters.
"We meet again, but this will only end the same as last time." Law says. He sounded different, more serious since he was much more powerful.
"No, it will not. I will never stop fighting." I shout.
"So be it. Attack!" Law orders. (Puns!)
They start the charge against us, but they have their tactics too. They have giants in front, and soldiers backing them up.
"Charge!" I yell
Our army charges as well, yells are heard all around. Dust and blood are everywhere, things dying every second.Monsters heavily outnumber us, but when have they not?
I keep Bane and Riptide in sword form, since I dont need a ranged weapon for close combat and none of these monsters can hurt me except Law.
I slash away at speeds I thought myself was Impossible. Our side began to even the odds. Law was still extremely dangerous, knocking demigods out in one hit.
We were lacking in numbers, soon, most soldiers were behind the barricade with the archers, and I was one of the only still fighting. Not many soldiers wanted to be on the front lines.
We begin to start winning until everyone sees one figure walking. A Titan. Not just any Titan. Kronos is back.
Everyone stops fighting and sees Kronos walking in golden Armor and with his scythe.
"I have returned, and what a sight to behold. Demigods all dying, how wonderful. I have been given immense power by Order, and you will die Perseus Jackson. You will die just as your parents did, running away." He sneers at me. I noticed that he seemed.....tired already. Not tired as in needing a nap, more like.....weariness.
I grip my sword tighter, angered at his mention of Mom and Paul.
"I killed you once, and I will do it again!" I shout
I charge Kronos with Riptide and Bane together. Kronos blocks it with his scythe, but raises an eyebrow when he realizes how powerful the hit was. We had both grown a lot in power, and this is it, the last showdown between us. One of us will die, and fade forever.
We fought for several minutes, Monsters and demigods both watching on their sides. I fought extremely well, his scythe could not deal with two swords striking him. I had managed to get in a few cuts, but I had a few of my own. I was doing pretty well, until Kronos froze time.
"Time is my realm. I can stop it, and you will never get out unless I command it!" He stated.
I continued my attack in this time-stop. Everything was still, nothing except us were moving. If I did not win, I would be stuck here.
I pushed my attack more fiercely, using my abilities to their best. After a few more minutes I begin to turn the tides. I disarm Kronos, tossing his scythe off Olympus. Kronos looks dumbfounded as I hold the knife up to his chin.
"It seems I have lost once again. As always." Kronos said sadly, as if he faced this many times.
"I have been at this for too long. Being evil is getting too old for me. Eons wasted, beaten countless times by the gods and their spawns. Jackson, this battle could only have went two ways, if I win, I would rule the earth along with Order. While that is quite nice, I prefer it if I fade. You see, if a Titan wants to die, when they fade they go to a "paradise" as they call it. I can return back here, but why would I? Rhea is waiting for me, for centuries. She was waiting for this, for me to realize that my conquest was pointless, and I would join her. I want to see Rhea again..." Kronos stated dreamily.
"I was not the one who killed your parents Jackson, it was Law, but my name was put down due to make you unaware of Law existing. The letter was a trick to make you believe I was rising again."
"I accept my defeat, and while I dislike being beaten by a mere demigod, it seems you are worthy of this privilage. I ask that you make it quick." Kronos asked.
I nodded as I gave one last slash over his chest, making him fade to dust. He smiled happily, as if he wanted this. As he was turning to dust, he whispered out. "I regret what I did to your friend, Luke Castellan, and your parents." And with that, he faded for a long time.
I envied him. I know what it feels like, to want something so badly, but never able to get it. Kronos wanted to rule Olympus, I wanted to protect my family, and both of us rarely succeeded. I guess even he can change.
I look up and see monsters and demigods still watching me.
"Well? What are you all waiting for? A kiss on the cheek? ATTACK!" I shouted.
The demigods started charging, monsters hastily charged quickly as well. Monsters were easy to dispose of, I alternated slashing and shooting my SMG into a unique fighting style, killing monsters quicker and faster. Soon, not many people were left. Few demigods were still standing, and even fewer monsters were still fighting. Law is still fighting strongly, I would need to face him soon.
As the last few monsters are defeated, Law is still standing tall. I still had a few demigods on my side, but knowing they stand no chance at someone like Law, I order them to retreat.
"Remaining demigods! Gather as many wounded as you can and get away from here!" I command, and the demigods scramble to carry the injured out.
It was just me and Law, once again.
"So, here we are again, the ultimate duel, good vs evil, light vs dark, Order vs Chaos, Hope vs Fea-" Law was cut off by me.
"Enough of your speeches, I would rather spend another century in Tartarus than listen to your talking." I mock.
Law looked slightly offended I wasn't taking this seriously, but retorted. "Your petty insults only show your fear, fear that I will exploit to give you a fools death!"
"Sure, whatever you say." I say sarcastically.
At this point Law looks infuriated, but calms himself down.
"You fool, you cannot even comprehend how this battle will affect your worl-" I cut him off again.
"Can we please fight? Your voice is already killing me." I laugh.
"So be it." Law stated as he charged.
He strikes my heart, but I block it with my shield. He swings, I block, rince and repeat. His strikes are definitely more powerful, but his skill is lacking. His body is not nearly as capable as mine, he cannot handle the power. I need to exploit this weakness. I have an idea.
His tactic is to have continuous strikes, overpowering the opponent to get a swing off, a fatal blow. However it is flawed if the opponent blocks with a shield, which I have. His strikes are extremely powerful, but not strong enough to break my shield.
I need a plan to counter his tactic. Using a sword would is useless, he seems to have more skill than I do. The SMG could work, but he could possibly counter if he has a shield. He could possibly have an accessory I do not see that can turn into a shield.
Running wont do, but I think I know a plan.
My shield.
Law seems to do everything with a certain style, by the book. While he is very skilled, he lacks creativity, and does everything in one way. There is no style of fighting that is in Greek that only uses a shield itself as a weapon, but the edges of my shield are sharp as a sword on its own. But I have a plan.
Daredevil isn't the only hero I know.
When Law strikes once again, I shove him back with my shield, my hands sore from holding my shield for so long. I can do this.
"This is pointless, it is clear you are tired from this, you only delay the inevitable. You will fall." Law states. He isn't wrong, I am getting pretty tired.
I change position, no longer in a blocking stance, but an offensive one. Law looks at me oddly, but shruggs it off.
He charges at me, but his eyes widen as I throw my shield Captain America style, with the sharp edges flying to his neck.
Law predictated that I would stay defensive, thats what most skilled fighters would do, but I went outside the book and straight up threw my shield at him. And people say comic books are bad for children.
Law quickly holds up his sword, in hopes that it will block the shield, but is far too late as the shield passes through his neck in one clean slice.
His head falls to the ground with a thud! And his body falls as well. I pick up my shield and notice something. No blood. He is not a mortal or demigod. No ichor, so no Titan, primordial, or god. No wires so no automaton. What was he? He couldn't be a traitor, since he is not a demigod, so who was the traitor?
My brain rack with questions that are cut short when I cut back to action, remembering the situation at hand.
My armor is dented heavily, almost to the point of breaking, as well as some cuts through the armor. The armor repairs itself, but takes a full day to fully repair.
I stand alone in the gate area, since all the monsters were dead, and the demigods were inside the city. I pull out a drachma and toss it in some water. I Iris Message the gods to see their progress on Typhon. However when the image appears, my eyes widen in shock.
