...One
13:23, 20 July 2018Maybe it was the way she looked at me. Or maybe it was just the fact that her eyes had this icy light blue color. Actually, her eyes were so light that I knew immediately that it wasn't her natural eye color. It couldn't be. She was pretty though, gorgeous actually.
'Shes probably wearing contacts.' Was the first thing that went through my mind.
It was creeping me out a bit, even though it was halloween and I was literally working at the oh so amazing Mc Donald's.
She smiled.
My first instinct was to look around to see the person she was smiling at. But of course there was no one standing behind me or what so ever.
Please don't stand in my line, I dont want any trouble...
But yeah, of course she did.
"Hi, how can I help you?" I asked, my voice neutral as I tried not to look into those eyes.
"I don't really know yet." She said. I looked up from the ordering screen on the computer system in front of me and stared right into her eyes.
"Take your time." I said, smiling at her. "Cool contacts."
She smiled back at me, her teeth white, even in comparison to those cold, icy eyes.
"Thanks." She mumbled, still looking at me.
"Actually." She continued. "I know what I want." She smiled at me and I couldn't help but smile back. Her long, curly, blonde hair was brushing against her own shoulders when she moved her head to the side to see if anyone could hear us.
I smiled at her, signaling her to continue her order. It wasn't busy in the restaurant, but I didn't want my boss to think I was flirting with this girl or whatever.
She leaned closer to me, her hands placed on the counter as she whispered: "You."
I was taken aback by her direct approach, slightly stepping backwards, looking away from her. Her eyes seemed to draw me back to them however, as I looked into them again only a few seconds later.
"When is your shift ending?" She asked, leaning her elbows on the counter, her chin on her hands. She was smiling at me widely, probably entertained by my reaction.
"I don't even know you." I said awkwardly, trying to laugh the whole situation away as I let out a nervous giggle.
"So?" She asked.
"So.." I started. "So I cant just go out with you or whatever you want." I mumbled, still looking into her eyes. She doesn't answer but just smiles at me.
"Its scary." I said, trying to explain myself.
"I know where you go to school. I know you. That makes it like 50 percent less scary." She answered quickly, her eyes amused now.
"Okay no." I laughed. "You just made it 50 percent scarier."
We shared a bit of laughter together.
"When is your shift ending?" She asked me again, her face a little more serious now, her smile still present but just smaller. I let out a sigh but kept on smiling at her.
"In like half an hour." I said, giving in. She let out a high squeak, jumped happily and said: "Okay, ill just wait here."
Shes kinda... cute.
She walked over to the corner of the almost empty Mc Donald's restaurant and sat down at a table there. I finished my shift half an hour later, went into the back to put my normal clothes on and walked into the restaurant, normally dressed now in a grey shirt with a leather jacket over it, plus some dark blue skinny jeans.
"Hello again." The girl said when I met her in that one corner.
"Hi." I answered shortly. "I don't even know your name."
She smiled at me and stuck her hand out to me. I looked down at her hand and saw that her nails were painted in a dark red color, suiting her dark red skinny jeans. She was wearing a dark blue sweater with also a leather jacket over it. She looked really pretty.
"Taylor." She said, bringing my attention back to her eyes again.
"Karlie." I replied, quickly shaking her hand. She had a surprisingly strong grip I noticed.
"Well Karlie.." She started. "What would you like to do this amazing halloween night?" She let go of my hand now.
"I actually hate halloween." I replied drily.
"Good." She said. "Me too."
We smiled at each other once more as she said: "Let go on an adventure then."
She took my hand, lead me out of the restaurant and before I knew it, we were walking on the dark and misty streets in town.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Okay so why the heck did you take me to walk with you on halloween night? I don't even know you." I asked after a while of walking these random streets I didn't even know. My hands were in my pockets, protecting them from the chilly night air.
The streets here looked empty, way too empty for a halloween night. There were no kids running around on the streets, no laughter, no screaming, nothing. Silence.
"Why not?" She replied simply, looking at me from the side. Even in the dark, her eyes were clearly visible and what seemed like shining.
"Thats so not an answer." I say, slightly annoyed by the amount mystery about this girl.
"Okay so let me ask you a question then." She said.
"Fine." I say, smiling at her as I can feel her staring at me from the side.
"Why did you come with me?" She asked calmly. I looked at her and met her eyes again.
Cause you're pretty
"Uhhmm.. I uhmm.. I don't know." I answered.
"Yeah. Thats not an answer." She said, smiling at me but then abruptly taking off and running away from me.
"What?!" I say loudly, taking off behind her. She is way faster though and is running at least eight meters in front of me. I didn't want to get left behind since these streets were kind of creeping me out, just like the mysterious girl actually.
'How did I even end up in this weird situation?' I found myself thinking while trying to keep up with her. 'This girl is running as fast as some kind of animal.'
"Stop!" I shouted loudly as she started to go out of my sight and ran into this misty alley. I was now officially alone in a dark, scary and probably not very safe street on halloween night.
"Great." I said out loud, standing still and breathing loudly like an idiot with my hands in my sides. I decided to be brave for once and walked into the creepy alley the girl just ran into.
She cant be that far.
After about two minutes of me walking in this misty, dark alley, I heard a sound coming from behind me. I turned around quickly but saw nothing but some bushes on the sides. The alley is not lit at all here and so I got my phone out to use the flashlight function. I walked on in the direction the blue eyed girl walked towards. What was her name?
"Taylor?!" I called out loudly, hoping for a response.
I heard something that sounded like a branch cracking behind me and turned around quickly, my heart pounding in my chest.
It was a black cat, the eyes of the animal shining in the bright light that came from my phone. I looked at the animal for a few seconds before it started hissing at me loudly.
"What the.." I said as I turned around and away from the cat.
A high scream sounded loudly in my ears when I fully turned around, met by a certain pair of light blue, shining eyes. It was Taylor, smiling widely at me. I realized it was my own screaming I'd heard.
"Okay no. You scared me so much. No." I said after her laughter died. I couldn't help but smile at her though.
"Come on. Lets go." She said as she grabbed my hand once more. Her hand felt warm around my cold one.
"Your hands are cold." She said when lights were finally reappearing on the end of the dark alleyway. She suddenly stops walking and it makes me bump into her slightly.
"Wait." She mumbled while taking both my hands and bringing them to her face. She then stroked my hands softly with her cheek. I giggled at her cute gesture and her blue eyes shot up to meet mine.
"What?" She asked, looking at me, clearly confused by my laughter.
"Nothing." I said. "Thats just.. kinda.. cute." I said softly.
She looked at me with still that same confused expression on her face and then put my hands down again together with hers and let them go.
Okay. That was also kinda weird.
"Where are we?" I asked then.
"Edge of the forest." She replied simply, walking again. I followed her quickly, not wanting to be left behind again.
"Okay no." I said as we now stood at the literal edge of the forest. "Its like 11pm, I'm not going in there now."
"You're such a coward, Kloss." She says, smiling at me and then walking forward into the dark and scary forrest.
Kloss?!
"How do you know my last name?" I asked, deciding to follow her for just a little bit.
"Like I said." She explained. "I know you."
"No you don't." I replied quickly.
"I do." She said.
I stayed silent for a while, while I was walking behind her while stepping over big, slippery branches and huge piles of leafs.
"How would you even know me? I don't know you." I say after a while, looking around, creeped out by my surroundings.
"I know you." She replied simply.
"You're kinda creepy." I said then. She stopped walking suddenly, turned around again and looked over at me with her now sad looking, piercing blue eyes.
"Do you really think that?" She then asked me, serious.
"Well.. uhmm I mean I didn't wanna make you feel bad by saying that. But you say you know me while I don't even know you. And you're leading me into scary alleys and creepy forests and its halloween." I had started rambling now.
"Im sorry, I thought humans liked this.. with halloween and all. We should go back then." She said, her voice soft and her blue eyes looking down to the ground.
"Humans?" I said, really confused now. She looked at me in shock.
"Yeah.. uhmm I meant.. uhmm everyone normally likes creepy things on halloween right? Ha!" She said, walking past me and leading us out of the forest again.
Humans? Okay that was just weird. And creepy. And scary. Yeah. Scary.
Before I knew it, we were walking in my own street again, this one busy with kids running around with bags filled with candy.
"Taylor, what did you want to show me in the forest?" I asked while looking at her.
"Oh just this cool place I love to visit. Its like my second home." She mumbled.
"Oh, okay." I said, not really knowing what to do with that information.
"Sorry. I have to go now." Taylor says when we stood in front of my apartment.
"Why? Where do you live? Is it close by? I don't want you walking around on your own so late at night, you know.." I said, casually trying to spend more time with the mysterious, blue eyed, blonde.
"Im gonna go." She just said, already wanting to turn around.
"Wait. I don't even have y-your number.." I said, grabbing her wrist.
"Let me go!" She then screamed at me loudly. She turned around and to my surprise her eyes weren't that light blue color anymore now. They were a dark red color. She grabbed my hand with her free hand and scratched it.
I let go of her immediately and stepped backwards, reaching for my now bleeding hand.
"I.. Im so sorry." She then said, seconds later, reaching for my hand too.
I took another step backwards bumping into the fence of my front yard. She looked at my bleeding hand and then looked back up at me, her eyes light blue again.
"Im sorry. Please let me take a loo.." She started.
"Go away." I said softly.
"Please, Karlie.. let me look at it." She said, looking at my hand. Her face looked panicked now.
"Please go away." I said, reaching for my keys in my pocket.
"Im so sorry." She repeated.
I found my keys and opened my fence without looking away from the blue eyed girl.
"Yeah, see you later." I said as I opened the fence and walked into my front yard backwards, not wanting to loose the mysterious girl out of sight. I saw her blue eyes looking at me as I closed the fence and hurried over to my front door.
"Who and what is this girl?" I said out loud as I walked into my apartment. I threw my keys on the kitchen table and opened the fridge to get some cold water to cool my mind off. The wound on my hand was still bleeding a lot and so I got some paper to dab the blood away.
Suddenly I felt very dizzy. My kitchen started spinning around me and as I fell to the ground with a loud thud, everything became black.

A/N
Hi guys!
So, new story?! Yes I know im Kaylor trash. Plus I thought 'yas halloween is coming up, I have this cool storyline in my head.
As you might have noticed while reading the first chapter of this story, its an AU. (I only just figured out, that 'AU' is a term) (It means: Alternate Universe, for the ones wondering) haaaa so...
If youre new to my stories, welcome. Ive written two other stories before. 'Both of us' and 'Inspire me'. Currently, im also still writing a story called: 'Your eyes so green'. Im still going to keep on updating that one too. So no worries about that.
I just came up with this story because I saw this halloween writing contest for fanfics, and well I couldnt contain myself. However, for the contest, my story could only be 6000 words. But I had so many ideas for this that im already at that number after about 2 chapters of writing.
Please let me know what you think about the first chapter? I really hope you guys like it, its different than my other stories as its waaaay more fictional.
P.s. As some might know or notice, English isnt my first language. So sorry for any grammar mistakes and all that.
