"myungho oppa-" "you don't have to call me oppa" he interrupted me, but honestly i don't know what i was going to say

oh, right!

"myungho, who gave me my name?" i stood up and looked up at him. despite having heels on he was still a giant compared to me, at least i'll be taller than jihoon, i thought letting out a small huff

"seungcheol hyung gave you your name, there was a chance you were going to be called jihyo or hara. i wanted to call you annchi, but i never said anything" he spoke, "annchi means angelic peace and that's what you gave me. whenever i held you in my arms, i felt a sense of peace" he went on, "when i felt your warmth on my arms, i felt happiness. it's something i hadn't felt in a long time. before i found you i felt like life had no purpose at that point, like i had already done everything. if i'm being honest i think some of the others also felt like that. but we were just too afraid to die, but when i found you i felt like i found my purpose. i decided to protect you for the rest of your life, or mine" he had a nostalgic smile on his eyes as he looked down at me

"annchi is a beautiful name" i smiled softly

were they really like that before me? did they really think life was meaningless? even after seven hundred years? i may only be seventeen but there is still so much for me to do in this world, so much it couldn't fit into my life time, my expression turned a bit sad, thinking of them in such despair, but at least i finally know who gave me my name. i need to ask seungcheol how he knew the name my birthmother gave me

he turned his head to the clock on the vanity. it was 4:34 meaning people are going to start coming over to the house, he let out a small sigh and turned back to me, "i should go tell the guys to change, and i should change too. you can stay here, i'll tell you when people start arriving"

without another word he walked out the room, leaving me there with my own thoughts

-myungho's pov-

i walked out of her room, i need to tell the guys to change, if i don't they won't do squat

making my way downstairs, i saw most of them in the living room, excluding seungcheol and joshua, "guy's go change, people will start arriving soon" i urged them to go, they groaned for a moment, most of them being a little tipsy they didn't want to move from their spot, but they got up nonetheless

"jeonghan hyung, where is seungcheol and joshua hyung?" i put my hand on his shoulder before he got too far, "they're in seungcheol's study"

walking up to his study, i could hear them shouting. they were talking about the mission. even though we all didn't show it we were still stressed about that, they could go after areum.

i knocked softly, but still entered without hearing their answers, "hyung you should go change" i completely interrupted them and their heated conversation

they looked like they could go at each others throats, like they would kill each other in that moment if i hadn't interrupted

but they didn't even acknowledge my presence, they just kept arguing

"we should get her out of here!" seungcheol screamed, "they are going to go after her eventually, so why not now, joshua?"

"because they haven't made any indication that they will!" he screamed back at the older, "how have they not, they followed soonyoung and areum home!"

it's true, the day soonyoung hyung went out to the beach with her, he said he felt like they were being watched. a few days after he found someone by the gates of the mansion. he got information out of him through compulsion, he was following them to see what they could threaten us with and he found areum

luckily he hadn't reported it to his boss yet so soonyoung compelled him to forget that areum exists and say that he found nothing

the appearance of the man shook something in seungcheol. made him more wary of everything. it made us all be more cautious. to never let her out of sight

"yes, but he went back to his boss with nothing, most likely they won't come back!"

"hyung" i spoke, still not getting their attention

"but they're could have been other guys!" seungcheol screamed, his eyes turning red and banging his hands on his table

"hyung!" i screamed out, they turned their heads to me

"you need to start getting ready" the tone of my voice was full of restrained anger

the way they are acting is immature, arguing in such a loud volume. you could most likely hear it at the other side of the mansion

they seemed to calm down, finally realizing how they were acting

they left the room without another word

-author's pov-

time had passed and they had all changed into their suits, but seungcheol couldn't get a bad feeling off him, he felt like something bad was going to happen. he wanted to get areum out of this mansion and go far away. to protect her from the evils of the mafia world

he was in the living room, waiting for something to happen

just then areum started walking down the stairs, myungho hadn't gone into her room and told her to come out and she was getting nervous that he had forgotten about reminding her. the fact that she could hear seungcheol and joshua were screaming made her feel more uneasy

"cheol" she whispered, moving closer to him, he hummed in response

"what's wrong?" he asked her, "nothing, i just wanted to ask why were you screaming earlier?"

"nothing we just had a minor argument" he spoke not looking at her, "because a minor argument ends in screaming" she chuckled trying to lighten his mood

"so are you going to tell me what happened?" she asked seungcheol. "don't worry about it" he brushed off her question

"can't you just tell me?" she half whispered, "areum, don't worry about it, you shouldn't worry yourself about this"

-seungcheol's pov-

she continued asking me but i just shrugged it off every time she asked

i was worried about her. her safety. her happiness. i want to get her out of here. sure we just moved here but i want to leave, now. for her

i heard the front door opening, most likely indicating that someone had arrived. i got up and she came after me

but i didn't expect who i saw at the door

it was kai

and i could see taemin behind him

"hey, it's been a while. mind inviting me in?" he asked with a slight smirk, taemin behind him had a cold expression on his face

(a/n btw i do realize i should of made kai the 'henchman' sorry. it's too late now)

i didn't know how to respond. all i could think was, 'why are they here'. i wasn't expecting to see him for a long time

"what do you want kai?" i growled, i pulled areum behind me, trying to protect her in some way

"nothing i just wanted say happy birthday to the birthday boy and the birthday girl" his smirk became more prominent as he looked behind me at areum

"what do you want?" i repeated the question. i could feel areum begin to tremble behind me. the first and only time she faced this man he drank from her, she has a right to be afraid of him, of them

"fine, i just wanted to talk to areum" this time, he spoke truthfully

"what do you want with her?" "invite me in and i'll tell you" he suggested, putting his hands in his pockets and a cocky smile, i took in a deep breath and looked at him with an uncertain face

"relax, i won't hurt her" he narrowed his eyes at me, i stayed there for a moment, not knowing what to do

can i really trust him? after what he did to areum the last time

"fine, come in" i gave in a bit too quickly, he walked in with a serious face looking around the mansion, taemin also walked in, he had the same cold face as always

"areum" i turned around to look at her shivering figure, "p-please, don't-t make me do this" she whispered, "it's okay, don't worry. he won't touch" i whispered back, leaning down to her ear to speak

she reluctantly looked at kai and then back to me, "what do you want with areum?" i asked him again, he moved to looked at areum in front of me, "i want to explain to her who she is" he smirked

she stopped trembling and i heard her heart skip a beat

a/n this is going to be the last time i post until next next week because next week i am testing (bc that's always fun) and testing generally makes me stress a crap ton about school. so see y'all later. 😂 this is a terrible place to leave a cliffhanger but whatever maybe i will post on saturday or sunday
