Ch. 10 Camping Tree

= STEPPING BACKWARDS. Grey smoke peaks through the rough skin of the dinosaur that mewls softly, looking to the side where they see a horrified young blonde girl with a blue cap.

"Madison?" Timmy calls out the name of his aunt, the word making the animal glance back at him before climbing over the pair and to the fallen and mostly shattered car. Turning it over with their mouth.

"I never seen an animal like that." Alan speaks aloud, curiosity hinted in his voice as they watch the white scaled creature tear open the boot and collect a set of clothes similar to the ones she wore prior and now they watch the animal walk away. Tail swinging side to side as Alan now notices the newly made marks along her reptilian body.

"Madison! Are you okay?" Alan trudges over, noticing the same grey smoke blooming out into the air as before while the shadow of the new creature disappears.

"Y-Yep!" Madison yelps, the sound of something thumping against the ground as she tugs on her pants. Hissing from when the fabric skims over the fresh wounds.

"Madd-" Alan skids to a stop when his eyes widen, seeing the girl fallen on the ground. Panting heavily.

"Next time, I ain't fighting a god damn t-Rex without enough sleep." Madison groans, sitting up where she reaches over and grabs a jacket. Then afterwards, they stand and trudges her way back to the group. Patting her hair as she hunches.

"You are injured." Alan points out to the female, them stopping by the two children as the man points to the slash in her side.

"I'm surprised I hadn't ended up dead, anyway, we can't entirely climb up there so we gotta go another way." Madison pushes away from the man and claps her hands. Rubbing them together when she realised the cold temperature.

"I suppose the park is that way, through these fields." Lex shakily points to the direction of trees. Nodding, Madison trudges to the car and grabs her bag that she had given Timmy and Lex to look through.

"Phew, I would've definitely killed that overgrown lizard if my stuff was bloody destroyed." They hear Madison grumble, moving to walk away and ahead of the group where the two kids jogs forward.

"What was that Madison?" Timmy asks their aunt.

"I'm a mutant Tim, I was adopted by John and this is why I helped out with Jurassic Park." Madison grumbles, scratching her back of her head as she and the rest trudges through the forest. Wrapping a small bandage she acquired from the first aid box around her left hand, narrowing her eyes at the cut she made from the glass pane.

After a few hours of walking, the group of two kids and two young adults halt in their approaching steps as they hear the daunting roar of the T-Rex.

"Are you hearing this?" Lex looks to the two adults with both worry and concern. Just as she speaks, another roar could be heard.

"Come on, Tim. Come on, hurry up. Let's, uh, get up this tree." Alan ushers the children as Madison picks Tim up and places him high on the giant tree roots.

Tim, at this moment of time utters a low and soft. "Oh, no."

"Come on, Tim, it's okay. Try up here." Alan assured the boy, Madison watches as he and the two kids climb the high tree. Seeing the older male give them a push up when they need it.

Tim who whines in complains, unhappy about these turns of events. "Oh, man. I hate trees."

Lex briskly chirps. "don't bother me!"

"Oh, yeah, well, you weren't in the last one."

The group could hear the hoots of nearby animals, to Madison they seemed almost magical. She didn't even notice a smile tug on her lips. She didn't even notice a pair of eyes landing on her stature.

"You coming Madison!?" Alan is heard calling down to the girl from where he and the kids had climbed and rested upon.

Nodding and reassuring herself from the tall height, Madison began climbing up. Feet digging into the bark and her hands gripping at what ever pieces were protruding.

Reaching the group, she saw Timmy and Lex somewhat cuddling near the male Palaeontologist. Turning her headed she saw an incredibly view. Eyes able to see in all directions although in Madison's they were slightly clouded but still there was a lot she and the others could see.

Most striking of all are sauropod heads, at the end of long necks, that tower over the park.

"Hey, those are Brontosauruses. I mean, uh, Brachiosauruses." Timmy points out as the group watch Madison climb a bit higher to a spot she could fit in easily. A higher spot than there's but at least it gives the other three more space.

"They're singing." A pair of blue eyes lifts up to Madison pulling her knees against her chest as she rests her back against a branch that was big enough so she couldn't exactly easily fall.

Smiling, Alan moves over to a higher branch. Nearer to Madison's own bed height and suddenly hoots loudly. Surprising the others as they smile at him.

"You'd made a good Brachiosaurus." Madison comments, missing the grinning look the palaeontologist used towards her had she stares off to the other Brachisauruses. Immediately, many heads turn in their direction and hoots back. Two lifting up to find who made the noise.

"Shh, shh! Don't let the monsters come over here!" Lex hushes the male, him chuckling softly.

"They're not monsters, Lex. They're just animals. These are herbivores." Alan informs her, hopping off the higher branch and moving to settle on a firm one behind the two children.

"That means they only eat vegetables, but for you I think they'd make an exception." Tim teases the girl.

Grant spares a disapproving glance to the young boy. "Tim..." the boy looks up to his aunt who was busy going through her book he always seen her look in.

"Oh, I hate the other kind." Lex grumbles.

"The other kind of just... do what they do." Alan shrugs and is then surprised when the two kids nestles up next to him, Madison could only smile softly at the rather cute sight. It was quiet for a few moments before Alan suddenly yelps, making the children lift their heads while Madison turns to look down.

"Ooh! Aah! What's that?" He winces and digs it out. It was a fossilised curved velociraptor claw, he stares at it in a quiet manner. Seemingly lost in thoughts.

"What are you and Ellie gonna do now if you don't have to pick up dinosaur bones anymore?" Lex asks the man a question curiously.

Alan shrugs, he hadn't thought about it that much. "don't know, I guess I guess we'll just have to evolve too."

"What do you call a blind dinosaur?" Tim asks the group, staring between the two adults when he asks them the question. Seeing his aunt turn to look down at him and the others.

"I don't know. What do you call a blind dinosaur?"

It was nice for Madison, seeing her niece and nephew being calm and safe in the hands of a man she somewhat now trusts. A small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

"Do-you-think-he-saurus." Timmy smiles when hearing the chuckle of Alan, seeing the smile of his sister and the amused eyes of his aunt.

After a few, quick moments pass, he decided to go again. "What do you call a blind dinosaur's dog?"

"You got me." Alan responds.

"A Do-you-think-he-saurus Rex." This makes the group make somewhat light hearted laughs. Madison resting her head against the back of the tree and softly close her eyes.

"What if the dinosaur comes back while we're all asleep?" Lex quietly asks the group.

"I'll drive it away." Madison speaks up, assuringly staring at the girl with a short nod before looking away. Raising her thumb to her mouth to begin biting it. Something she caught to be doing many times during her times in Jurassic park.

Alan shakes his head. Not exactly liking her words for some reason. "I'll stay awake."

Lex looks to him skeptically. "All night?" She inquires.

"All night." He nods in an affirmed motion. Both kids finally close their eyes and while they sleep, Madison notices that Alan lets the claw fall to the ground.

"Don't you like that claw?" Madison asks the man. Glancing over to see him watch the giant Brachiosauruses.

"I can find many more, how are you doing anyway." Alan flicks his eyes over at the girl who shrugs with a low hum. "Why did you join John with all this?"

"I wanted to make a difference, at first I wanted to become a hero but then... this fell into place." He hears the girls almost quiet explanation, laughing out loud awkwardly.

"Why are you laughing, that's quiet an admirable reason."

"I can't save people even if my life depended on it Grant." Madison responds, looking down at her book in her lap. "Humanity doesn't need another mutant thrown into the mix and John wanted me to lead this park once he passes."

"Madison you don't have to do something you don't want to you know." Alan looks up to the female.

"Yea but it's practically been my life, Grant, you can sleep. I'll stay up.
