21:26, 19 April 2017Normal POV
Wilmer and Demi spent a horrible night. They couldn't almost sleep two straight hours because of over thinking about all that had happened at school. They had been discovered, and they were very confused, because they had to chose who would keep his job and who would be the one to leave it forever. But even though it seemed horrible, it also had something nice for them: they wouldn't have to hide their love anymore.
As they felt they needed time to think about all that, they didn't spend the night together, but as they were no more afraid to be seen, they met each other at the school's parking and they walked together to the school.
Parents and students of all ages looked at them with no qualms, prying into them, trying to find out more about their relationship or just wanting to see how they felt or if their relation had changed since everybody knew that they were dating.
Demi walked embarrassed to the school while Wilmer did it angrily next to her. The more they heard people talking about them, the more Wilmer had more eager to show his love for Demi, because he couldn't understand why parents would have created that rule that prohibited teachers to get involved sentimentally.
—Look at those two! —a mom whispered to another parents loud enough for them to hear her—. Those are the teachers that will be fired for being a couple! They are the teachers of the second graders!
The father and mother that were listening to her turned over and looked at Demi and Wilmer, curiously.
—Oh, how would they want to mess their life that way... —the father said—. It's a pity... they look like they are great teachers...
—Oh yes! They must be because you should have seen their students yesterday when everything happened! —she kept gossiping—. They all were crying like crazy because their loved teachers were discovered! People say that their students knew it and that they kept the secret for them!
—Oh my God! How is that possible!? —the other mother replied—. How can they let little children get involved in their problems? I don't like that! —she added, angrily.
Wilmer was getting so irritated listening to them that he looked at Demi fast and took her hand, holding it while walking near the parents and overtaking them on the way.
—Good morning! —he told to the gossiping adults, making an effort to smile—. I hope you have a great day! I already see that you are enjoying talking about some people we know, so keep having fun! —he added nicely, making them feel ashamed of their childish behavior.
—You shouldn't have done that —Demi told him in a low voice.
—Look, I must stand little ones, not their parents gossiping and making fun about my life —he replied, sternly.
Demi's POV
I went upstairs to my class and my students were already waiting for me in their chairs. When I got in, all of them stood up and ran to me, some of them leaping on and hugging me.
—Miss Demi! How is everything going? —Evelyn asked me concerned.
—Did Mr. Davis put the blame on you? —Evans asked straightaway.
—How is Mr. Valderrama? Tell me you didn't break up! —Allyson asked, pouting—. You can't break up because parents don't accept your relationship!
—Are you going to get fired? —Jake shouted angrily—. Because if you are, you should tell me so I get ready to punch some faces! I won't keep studying if someone snatches Miss Lovato to me! —he complained.
I was obviously not having the best morning ever, but I could only smile and laugh with some of their comments.
—Guys, you don't need to worry, but I'm going to tell you things the way they truly are —I told them—. You've been keeping the secret, so you deserve to know how things are going... Well, Mr. Davis reminded us yesterday how one of the school's rules since last year is not to get into a relationship with a work mate...
My students rolled their eyes... I loved how mature, they were when we talked about love. They truly knew what love meant. We did a great job teaching them that it has no religion, age, gender or any other barriers and I was really proud about that.
—So, what? —Alexa interrupted me.
—So he told us he didn't want to, but that he did had to fire one of us —I explained.
—But that's not fair Miss Demi! You can't leave Saint Prudence! —Allyson yelled, her eyes watering.
—Wilmer and I have to think about it... because at least one of us has to leave the school forever —I kept telling them—... And by the way —I said changing my tone of voice into one less serious—... Even if I stay or leave, of course you will keep your studies Jake! —I told him giggling and making them smile—. You guys have to keep studying and make me proud of being your teachers when I am a grumpy old woman! —I said, tickling him.
—I don't want you to leave Miss Demi —Jake said, wiping some tears that fell down his eyes.
Children were starting to cry and get sad, so I cut the conversation off the way I could and I started the lesson.
—Hey! I haven't left yet, so we need to keep our spelling lesson like now! —I told them getting serious and we started working after we had a laugh attack.
Wilmer's POV
The clock hit 4:30pm and children left the class running, after saying goodbye and taking their belongings. I lowered the blinds, took my coat and my books and I got out closing the door.
—How were your students? —Demi asked, behind me.
I turned around to look at her.
—They were sad and scared about me leaving... —I said dejectedly—. What about yours?
—Same here... Jake even offered me to punch the people who would dare to fight for firing me! —Demi told me, making us laugh for some seconds.
—Have you thought about something? —I asked her, stopping the great moment.
—I've been thinking the whole night, but I haven't cleared anything up... —she replied—... and you?
—I've been thinking that you should be the one staying... I mean... this job was yours before it was mine —I told her.
—Wilmer, I'm not letting you go —she cut me off—... You are aware of that, aren't you?
—Yeah, but you know I won't let you leave either... don't you? —I told her too.
At that moment we heard how Mr. Davis was walking closer to our classrooms so we stopped to talk and got serious.
—So, I'm going to show you the classrooms as next school year will be a vacant position for another teacher —Mr. Davis talked as he walked.
Our eyes almost got out of their sockets when we saw who Mr. Davis was talking to.
—Oh yes! I really can't wait to be a teacher at Saint Prudence! A lot of people talked well to me about the school! —Lucía the devil replied walking next to him.
—That's nice! And you maybe would like to know that we also offer a day care service for the babies of the teachers who work here... —the director told her smiling, while pointing at her baby bump.
—Oh! That's amazing! I'll be so happy to work here! —Lucía exclaimed.
My head started to work all of a sudden when I saw that woman. The pictures that were stuck around the school... only Lucía knew about them other than Demi and me. She even knew where they were kept... and she wanted revenge.
—YOU ARE THE RESPONSIBLE OF ALL THIS! —I said, staring seriously at Lucía while Demi and the other two looked at me surprised—. You were the one who brought to light our pictures!
Mr. Davis looked at me confused and Lucía tried to keep calm.
—Sorry, do I know you? —she teased me, making me even more furious.
—Don't play the fool Lucía! You got to mess everything up, aren't you happy already? —I shouted.
—Mr. Valderrama, keep calm, please! —the director told me—. I know it's difficult to assume that one of you needs to abandon us, but this responsible woman here is only looking for a job.
—Responsible? —Demi said and she started to laugh—. Yeah, she is such a responsible woman and mom too... Her child's father must be really proud!
I tried to keep thinking about my anger and not focusing in Demi's joke because I didn't really want to laugh at that serious moment.
—Guys, I forgot the keys of some of the rooms at my office... What about if you explain to Miss González the important things while I go downstairs to take them? —he asked us, before he left, not paying attention to what we were saying.
I waited some seconds until Mr. Davis couldn't see, either listen to us and then I looked back at Lucía.
—How could you? —I told her, hurt.
—I promised you that you'd get your revenge, didn't I? —she replied, looking at us and smiling from ear to ear.
