Later that afternoon, Naniโ€™s hospital cabin was far from quiet.

The once-sterile room now buzzed with voices, laughter, and the sound of too many people talking at once. Bright sunlight streamed through the curtains, warming the pale walls and reflecting off the vase of fresh lilies someone had brought earlier.

Jimmy was the loudest of them all, as usual โ€” dramatically retelling his flight experience to anyone whoโ€™d listen. โ€œAnd then that old lady beside me started snoringโ€”loudly! I swear, I thought we were having turbulence again!โ€

โ€œMaybe she was snoring because you never shut up,โ€ William muttered, leaning against the window frame.

โ€œExcuse me?โ€ Jimmy snapped, narrowing his eyes.

โ€œOh, here we go again,โ€ Est sighed, glancing toward Sea and grinning. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, youโ€™ll get used to it. They fight every ten minutes.โ€

Sea chuckled, looking effortlessly calm beside Jimmy. โ€œItโ€™s fine. Iโ€™ve seen worse in tournaments.โ€ His tone was easy, his posture relaxed โ€” that quiet confidence only athletes carried.

Jimmy came around morning but he didn't came alone. He came with his boyfriend Sea, who is a Tennis Player. To everyoneโ€™s amusement, he and Est had clicked almost immediately. Within ten minutes, they were already debating training methods and laughing about muscle cramps.

Now, William and Jimmy sat sulking in the corner, identical frowns on their faces.

โ€œGreat,โ€ William grumbled, โ€œmy boyfriend found a new best friend in five minutes.โ€

Jimmy crossed his arms. โ€œSame. I shouldโ€™ve just come alone.โ€

Their synchronized sulking only made the rest of the room burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, Nani was in his hospital bed, looking far too entertained for someone who had fainted just the night before. He leaned against the pillows, a soft smile on his face as he watched everyone bicker and tease. The room felt alive โ€” warm, chaotic, and full of love.

Sky sat beside him, focused on something else entirely. A small plate of sliced apples rested on the table. Sky quietly peeled another slice, speared it with a fork, and held it to Naniโ€™s lips.

Nani took a delicate bite โ€” and before he could even chew, Sky leaned over and pressed a kiss against his cheek.

Nani froze for half a second, his ears immediately turning red.

โ€œOh my god,โ€ Est groaned from the couch. โ€œCan you two not? We just ate.โ€

Sky smirked, unbothered. โ€œHe eats more when I feed him.โ€

โ€œI wonder why,โ€ Pooh said dryly from where he sat on the couch, iPad balanced on his knee. His eyes didnโ€™t leave the screen as he scrolled, clearly pretending not to watch them. โ€œAt this point, heโ€™s only eating for the kisses.โ€

Nani puffed his cheeks in protest, mumbling, โ€œNot true.โ€

Sky chuckled, offering him another slice. โ€œOpen your mouth then, love.โ€

Everyone collectively groaned.

โ€œPlease,โ€ William said flatly, โ€œspare us.โ€

Jimmy added dramatically, โ€œYouโ€™re raising my blood sugar just by existing!โ€

Pooh sighed, setting his iPad down with mock irritation. โ€œSome of us are trying to work in peace, not drown in secondhand affection.โ€

Sky just smiled smugly, ignoring all of them as he leaned closer to Nani again.

โ€œThen donโ€™t look,โ€ he murmured, pressing another kiss on Naniโ€™s temple โ€” gentle, almost reverent.

Nani giggled softly, his earlier exhaustion replaced by a quiet glow. For a moment, the rest of the world disappeared.

Pooh looked up again, catching that tiny moment of affection and rolling his eyes โ€” though the faintest hint of a smile tugged at his lips. โ€œYou two are impossible,โ€ he muttered, typing again.

Est laughed. โ€œAnd yet, somehow, perfect for each other.โ€

Sky squeezed Naniโ€™s hand. โ€œThatโ€™s the plan,โ€ he said, his tone warm and full of love.

And just like that, the room filled with laughter again โ€” William and Jimmy back to arguing, Sea and Est talking about sports, Pooh muttering at his screen, and Sky feeding Nani another apple slice followed by yet another kiss.

For the first time in weeks, everything felt okay.

The afternoon stretched lazily inside Naniโ€™s hospital room, now more like a reunion party than a recovery space.

Sky tried to feed Nani another slice of apple, but this time Nani turned his face away playfully.

โ€œNo,โ€ he said, cheeks puffed out. โ€œYouโ€™re just going to kiss me again.โ€

Sky chuckled, pretending to be offended. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with that?โ€

William groaned from the corner. โ€œEverything. Itโ€™s wrong in every possible way.โ€

Jimmy added, โ€œMy poor innocent eyes. Iโ€™m scarred for life.โ€

โ€œYou? Innocent?โ€ Pooh deadpanned from his couch, eyes never leaving his iPad. โ€œPlease. You probably flirted with the flight attendant before your plane even took off.โ€

Jimmy gasped dramatically. โ€œHow dare you accuse me of something soโ€”so true!โ€

Laughter broke out around the room. Even Nani, trying to suppress a giggle, ended up laughing so hard he had to clutch his stomach.

Sky immediately panicked.โ€œCareful, love. Donโ€™t strain yourself.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m fine,โ€ Nani managed between giggles. โ€œYouโ€™re the one feeding me every five seconds!โ€

โ€œBecause you skipped dinner last night,โ€ Sky said, peeling another apple slice anyway.

โ€œI fainted, Sky! I wasnโ€™t exactly dining at a five-star restaurant,โ€ Nani teased.

Sea, who had been quietly chatting with Est, finally looked over with a grin. โ€œYou guys are like an old married couple.โ€

Sky shrugged, unbothered. โ€œWeโ€™re practicing.โ€

William buried his face in his hands. โ€œSomeone take me out. I canโ€™t.โ€

Est laughed, patting Williamโ€™s shoulder. โ€œYou should take notes, Will. Maybe then Jimmy wonโ€™t keep sulking.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not sulking,โ€ Jimmy said immediately. โ€œIโ€™m simply disappointed that my boyfriend chose swimmer boy over me.โ€

Sea smirked. โ€œJealousy doesnโ€™t suit you,doctor.โ€

Jimmy pointed an accusing finger. โ€œDonโ€™t you โ€˜doctorโ€™ me!โ€

That only made Sea laugh harder, which made Jimmy even more dramatic โ€” and soon, William joined in just to irritate him more.

โ€œSee?โ€ Nani said, resting his chin on Skyโ€™s shoulder. โ€œThis is why I love when everyone comes together.โ€

Pooh sighed from his seat, though a tiny smile betrayed him. โ€œYou say that now. Give it ten more minutes and one of them will break something.โ€

As if on cue, Jimmy gestured too wildly and knocked over the flower vase beside the bed.

Everyone froze.

Then โ€” splash. Water spread across the floor.

โ€œOh no no no no!โ€ Jimmy squealed, jumping back. โ€œThat wasnโ€™t me!โ€

โ€œWho else would it be?โ€ William asked flatly.

Pooh groaned, rubbing his forehead. โ€œI called it. Ten minutes? I was being generous.โ€

Sky exhaled through his nose, clearly trying not to lose it. โ€œJimmy.โ€

โ€œYes?โ€

โ€œStep away from the fragile objects. In fact, justโ€”step away from everything.โ€

The entire room burst into laughter again.

Even Papa Pete, who had just peeked in through the door to check on them, smiled at the sight โ€” his boys laughing, teasing, and alive.

Nani leaned against Skyโ€™s shoulder, finally calm, the sparkle back in his tired eyes. โ€œSee?โ€ he whispered softly so only Sky could hear. โ€œI told you everythingโ€™s fine.โ€

Skyโ€™s fingers brushed through his hair gently. โ€œYeah,โ€ he murmured, a faint smile touching his lips. โ€œFor the first time in a whileโ€ฆit really is.โ€

๐˜ผ ๐™ฌ๐™š๐™š๐™  ๐™ก๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง

Nani was finally discharged.

Papa Book had made it clear โ€” painfully clear โ€” that Sky was on thin ice.โ€œYouโ€™re not taking him anywhere,โ€ heโ€™d said, arms crossed. โ€œHeโ€™ll come home with me.โ€

Sky, in a moment of rare desperation, had dropped to his knees right there in the hospital lobby, clutching Papa Bookโ€™s leg like a child begging forgiveness.โ€œPlease, Papa. Iโ€™ll take care of him this time. I swear.โ€

Papa Bookโ€™s eyebrow twitched. Est and Jimmy tried (and failed) to stifle their laughter.

At last, Nani โ€” pale but stubborn as ever โ€” spoke up softly, โ€œPapaโ€ฆ I want to go home with Sky.โ€

It was that simple sentence, paired with those pleading doe eyes, that melted Papa Bookโ€™s resolve. But not without a warning.

โ€œIf I hear even one complaint, Sky Theerapanyakun, youโ€™ll wish you never met my son.โ€

Sky could only nod rapidly, voice cracking as he promised, โ€œUnderstood, sir.โ€

That night, peace finally returned to the Theerapanyakun estate.

The city lights glowed faintly through the window, bathing the room in a silvery hue. Nani lay fast asleep in Skyโ€™s arms, breathing slow and steady, his cheek pressed against Skyโ€™s chest.

Sky hadnโ€™t moved for hours. He couldnโ€™t.

His fingers traced idle circles on Naniโ€™s waist as if memorizing the softness of his skin. He couldnโ€™t believe how close heโ€™d come to losing this โ€” this warmth, this heartbeat.

The faint scent of Naniโ€™s shampoo lingered in the air, clean and delicate. The same scent Sky had missed during those restless, sleepless nights when guilt gnawed at him like a wound that wouldnโ€™t heal.

He tightened his arms around Nani, pulling him closer until their bodies fit perfectly together. His nose brushed the curve of Naniโ€™s neck, and he breathed him in โ€” slow, deep, reverent.

Nani stirred slightly, eyes fluttering open halfway. โ€œYouโ€™re not sleeping again,โ€ he murmured, voice heavy with drowsiness.

โ€œI will,โ€ Sky whispered against his skin. โ€œGo back to sleep.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t stay up late,โ€ Nani mumbled, half-asleep now, his words melting into a sigh as he nuzzled closer to Skyโ€™s chest. โ€œYouโ€™ll get sick.โ€

Sky smiled faintly, his heart aching at how pure Naniโ€™s concern still was โ€” even after everything.

โ€œI wonโ€™t,โ€ he promised quietly.

But even as Naniโ€™s breathing evened out again, Skyโ€™s eyes stayed open, watching him in the dim light.

He brushed a stray lock of hair from Naniโ€™s face, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry,โ€ he whispered into the silence. โ€œNever again, my Reigna. Iโ€™ll never let you fall apart because of me again.โ€

The next morning, sunlight spilled through the tall dining-room windows, soft and golden. The Theerapanyakun estate was unusually lively; laughter and the clinking of cutlery filled the air.

Sea had already won everyone over. He sat between Jimmy and Pooh, cheerfully helping Papa Pete refill the teapot as if heโ€™d been part of the family forever. Jimmy, of course, couldnโ€™t stop grinning.

โ€œYou see?โ€ Jimmy said proudly, elbowing William. โ€œTold you Papa would like him.โ€

Papa Pete chuckled, โ€œI like anyone who eats my cooking without complaining.โ€

Sea raised his hand in mock salute. โ€œSecond helping coming right up, sir.โ€

Across the table, William pouted over his toast. โ€œEst gets to fly off to Australia for a competition while Iโ€™m stuck here being teased.โ€

Nani bit back a laugh, eyes gleaming. โ€œAww, poor William. You can call him later and tell him how much you miss him. Maybe heโ€™ll bring you a trophy as a souvenir.โ€

The table erupted with soft laughter, and William threw a piece of bread at Nani, who dodged easily and leaned into Skyโ€™s shoulder with a satisfied smirk.

Papa Pete, clearly in a good mood, decided this was the perfect time to change the target. His gaze shifted to Pooh โ€” the quiet, composed scientist, for once without his iPad in hand.โ€œSo, Pooh,โ€ Papa Pete began, tone too sweet to be safe. โ€œEveryone seems to have someone special now. Jimmy and Sea, William and Est, Sky and Naniโ€ฆโ€

Pooh froze mid-bite.

Papa Pete continued dramatically, โ€œAnd my youngest? Still married to his lab and eating breakfast like this family isnโ€™t trying to give me grandchildren before I turn grey!โ€

Nani and William both burst out laughing, while Sea leaned toward Jimmy to whisper, โ€œHe sounds like my mom.โ€

Pooh sighed deeply, setting his fork down. โ€œPapa, please. Itโ€™s morning.โ€

โ€œOh, so you can talk before noon,โ€ William teased. โ€œThatโ€™s new.โ€

Before Papa Pete could continue his โ€œAsian-parent coded speech of despair,โ€ Skyโ€™s calm voice cut through the laughter.

โ€œDad.โ€

The tone made everyone look up. Skyโ€™s expression was steady โ€” eyes on his father, hand slipping quietly into Naniโ€™s beneath the table. Their fingers intertwined, the simple gesture grounding the moment.

Vegas looked up from his coffee, one brow raised. โ€œYes, son?โ€

Sky exhaled, gaze flicking to Nani before returning to his father. His voice was firm, unshaken.

โ€œSet the date for the wedding.โ€

For a second, the room fell utterly silent โ€” even Papa Peteโ€™s fork hovered mid-air.

Naniโ€™s eyes widened, a flush blooming across his cheeks.

Jimmy grinned like a fool, Sea nearly clapped, and William groaned, โ€œFinally.โ€

Papa Peteโ€™s expression softened, pride flickering behind his teasing glare. โ€œAre you sure, Sky? No business trips, no excuses, no running off halfway?โ€

Sky smiled faintly, turning his hand over to press a kiss to Naniโ€™s knuckles. โ€œNo running, Papa. Not this time.โ€

The table burst into cheers โ€” Jimmy whooping, Sea joining in, even Papa Pete pretending to dab at imaginary tears while Pooh muttered under his breath, โ€œGreat. Now Iโ€™ll have to attend another wedding.โ€

Nani, still blushing, leaned close to Sky and whispered, โ€œYou didnโ€™t even warn me.โ€

Sky smirked, whispering back, โ€œWanted to see your reaction.โ€

Naniโ€™s heart fluttered as he playfully smacked his arm under the table.

After breakfast, the noise of the dining room faded behind them. The morning air outside was fresh, touched by the scent of wet grass and blooming jasmine. Nani walked beside Sky through the garden, their steps slow, unhurried.

โ€œEveryoneโ€™s going to start planning before you even finish your coffee,โ€ Nani said lightly, trying to sound casual. โ€œPapa Pete already looked like he was about to pull out a wedding binder.โ€

Sky smiled, slipping his hands into his pockets. โ€œGood. Saves me time.โ€

Nani rolled his eyes but couldnโ€™t hide the tiny curve of his lips. โ€œYou didnโ€™t even warn me, Sky. You justโ€”โ€ He waved his hands in frustration. โ€œYou just announced it like you were confirming a business meeting!โ€

Sky turned to him, eyes warm. โ€œIf I warned you, you wouldโ€™ve overthought it.โ€

Nani paused, caught off guard. โ€œโ€ฆMaybe.โ€

Sky stepped closer, their shoulders brushing. โ€œBesides,โ€ he added softly, โ€œIโ€™ve already waited long enough.โ€

The teasing faded from Naniโ€™s face, replaced by something fragile, something real. His gaze dropped to the grass. โ€œYou sound too sure about this,โ€ he whispered. โ€œWhat if I mess it up? What if you do?โ€

Sky reached out, tilting Naniโ€™s chin gently so their eyes met. โ€œThen weโ€™ll fix it. Together.โ€

The sincerity in his tone left Nani wordless. For a moment, the only sound was the rustling of leaves overhead. Skyโ€™s thumb brushed over Naniโ€™s jaw, and the look in his eyes was calm but fierce โ€” the kind of look that said he wasnโ€™t running anymore.

Nani felt his chest tighten. โ€œYou really mean it this time, donโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œI do,โ€ Sky said simply. โ€œNo half-promises. No hiding. Iโ€™m setting the date because Iโ€™m done waiting for the โ€˜right time.โ€™ Youโ€™re it, Nani. Youโ€™ve always been it.โ€

Nani blinked rapidly, fighting a smile that wouldnโ€™t stay hidden. โ€œYouโ€™re saying all the right things today, huh?โ€

Sky leaned closer, his voice dropping low, teasing but tender. โ€œThen stop testing me and just kiss me already.โ€

Nani laughed softly, the tension melting away. โ€œYouโ€™re impossible.โ€

โ€œYour impossible,โ€ Sky murmured โ€” and before Nani could reply, Sky bent down and kissed him.

It wasnโ€™t rushed. It wasnโ€™t showy. Just warm โ€” grounding โ€” like the promise Sky had made across the breakfast table.

When they finally pulled apart, Nani rested his forehead against Skyโ€™s shoulder, smiling against his shirt.

โ€œIโ€™ll hold you to that,โ€ he whispered.

Sky wrapped his arms around him, pressing a kiss to his hair. โ€œIโ€™m counting on it.โ€
