Chapter 4

15:15, 3 June 2025

Percy felt lightheaded.

Percy furrowed his eyebrows as he opened up his eyes and he saw that he was laying on this bed, in this random room, and he grumbled as he brought his hand up to his eyes and he rubbed them.

"You drool in your sleep."Percy felt his cheeks warm up and he quickly brought his arm towards his face, wiping away the drool that may have spilled onto his chin while he was unconscious.

Percy looked over, seeing a girl sitting down nearby where he laid. "Erm... where am I?" Percy glanced around. "Well, new kid, this is the nurse's office." The female said. Percy looked back at the female and he met her gaze.

They held eye contact and Percy noticed that her eyes were grey. Percy never knew someone could have grey eyes, nor did he know that grey eyes would be so beautiful for someone. Percy felt strange as he kept holding eye contact with this girl. It felt that time had slowed down. That Percy could just... stay like this. That he could feel at peace just... staring into this girl's eyes.

The girl blinked and she cleared her throat, snapping Percy out of his daydream. "Uhm...nurse's office, w-why am I here? Who are you?" Percy asked. The girl studied Percy for a moment. "You fainted in biology. We were watching a video on how to dissect hearts since the teacher didn't want to teach us anything for a double period and our classmates complained." The girl answered.

"And I'm Annabeth. Annabeth Chase." Percy studied Annabeth. Her hair was blonde and curly, she had it tied up in a low ponytail. Her skin was tanned, and she just... she looked beautiful. "Erm... I'm Percy Jackson." Percy introduced himself.

"So, why are... why are you here, Annabeth?" Percy titled his head at Annabeth. Annabeth blinked and she brushed aside a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Well, the teacher asked me to bring you down here. She didn't trust anyone else to do so." Annabeth explained. "And well, I don't see a point in going back up to class since all we're doing is watching a documentary, plus the nurse had to go do something, he couldn't leave you unsupervised."

"Uh-huh..." Percy said. "Well... I'm up, and I think we should head back up and-!" Percy was about to get up but Annabeth grabbed his arm. "The nurse said to give you some sort of food when you woke up. He noticed that you seemed a little pale and figured you needed something to eat." Annabeth said, making sure Percy stayed sat. "I don't have any food on me-" Percy began, furrowing his eyebrows at Annabeth.

Annabeth grabbed her bag off from the floor and Percy blinked, surprised she had her bag. "W-wait, is my bag down here too?" Percy asked."Uh, yeah, I was asked to bring your bag down by the nurse and I just took mine too. He didn't know when you would wake up." Annabeth said, pointing at the floor, next to the bed Percy was in.

Percy looked down next to him and saw his bag on the floor. Percy snatched his bag and dug through it, grabbing his phone. He had to message his mom, and Grover. Let them know what happened.

As Percy quickly typed out a message to his mom and sent it, he went onto Grover's contact. "Here." Annabeth held a bar of chocolate in front of Percy's face. Percy blinked and he set his phone down. "You just have some chocolate in your bag at all times?" Percy questioned, gently taking the bar of chocolate from Annabeth. Annabeth shrugged, "Better to be safe than sorry."

Percy hummed and he sent a message to Grover before he opened the chocolate bar and began to slowly eat it. "So... technically, you could go now." Percy said, in between chews. "First, please talk once you've swallowed your food." Annabeth raised an eyebrow at Percy. "Second, I don't really want to. Like I said, watching a documentary is sort of boring. Plus, I'm curious about you, new kid. Luke mentioned you to me earlier."

Percy swallowed the bite he took and he blinked at Annabeth. "Oh! So you're Annie!" Percy exclaimed, smiling at Annabeth. Annabeth's cheeks turned red and Percy felt his smile grow. "I told him not to use that stupid nickname..." Annabeth grumbled under her breath, crossing her arms."I think it's quite a cute nickname." Percy said before taking another bite of his chocolate.

Percy then froze for a moment as he felt his cheeks warm up. Did he really just say the word 'cute'? And called 'Annie' a 'cute' nickname for Annabeth? In front of her?? Even though they just met?! Percy glanced at Annabeth and her blush seemed to deepen.

"Erm... I-it's not as if you'd understand. You have a normal name, I mean, Percy is quite a nice name but-" Annabeth began, not looking at Percy. "My name is actually Perseus." Percy blurted out. Was Percy trying to sabotage himself? Maybe. Why did he have to mention that? Annabeth looked up at Percy and Percy gulped as Annabeth stared at him in a silence for a moment.

"A-after the Greek Hero?" Annabeth questioned, leaning in slightly and her eyes sparkling. "That is so cool! I love Greek mythology, and I love and hate how most of the heroes fates end in tragedies! But Perseus' fate was... quite a nice change and-" Annabeth stopped herself from rambling and she leaned back. "Ah, I'm sorry, I'm just... a huge geek... you probably don't even-"

"I was named after the Greek Hero Perseus, yeah." Percy said, looking at Annabeth. Annabeth looked back up and she met Percy's gaze. "I don't know much about him, other than he slayed Medusa's head and that he had a happy life unlike other Greek heroes but... i-if you know more... I'd be happy to just... hear you out." Percy watched as Annabeth's eyes just widened and they sparkled even more. She had a huge smile on her face.

"Really? This may take up until the end of the day, so if you really don't want to-" "No, please. I'm actually curious and... you seem quite... knowledgeable, Annie." "... Well, Perseus Jackson, here is the story of Perseus in Ancient Greece-"
