Hey dudes :D So here we go with chapter twenty one :)

-Chapter Twenty One-

I let out a small huff of air between my teeth as I reached down into the small alcove by my feet, my hand gripping the rough material of my school bag.

Reaching my spare hand up to the lever that opened the door, I climbed out of Elena's car and threw my bag over my shoulder, grinning at her.

I frowned suddenly as I realised she was also getting out, her bag also slung over her shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

She paused, giving me a confused look. "Coming into the house with you."

"Don't you have to look after Jeremy tonight? I thought Jenna had a date."

"She does, but Jeremy doesn't need me to look after him." She rolled her eyes.

"You're an awful sister."

"That's a bit rich coming from you, don't you think?"

"Do you want to come in or what?"

"Yes, I'm sorry."

I simply let out a chuckle, grinning as I reached into my pocket to fish out my house key. A frown creased my forehead as I chewed on my lip in concentration, releasing my grip on my school bag to continue the search in my pockets.

"Where the hell?" I hissed in frustration as I pulled out my pocket, groaning in annoyance.

"Don't tell me you've lost your key."

"I've lost my key." I shot back, still frowning as I fell to my knees on the concrete, starting to search in my bag.

"I told you not to tell me that."

"Since when do I actually ever listen to you?"

"You should start sometime."

I simply chuckled, shaking my head as I threw my chemistry textbook out my bag.

"FOR GOD'S SAKE WHERE IS IT?!"

"Can't we just knock for your brothers'?" She asked with that obvious tone, that people use when they purposely want to annoy the shit out of you, in her voice as she gracefully climbed the steps to knock on the door, crossing her arms as she waited for an answer.

"They're out." I simply stated, remembering the text Damon sent me on the way here.

"And you didn't think to tell me that?"

"You didn't ask." I simply said, giving up my search and running a hand down my cheek.

I placed my hands on my thighs, chewing on my lip as I tried to think of something we could do to get inside, without demolishing the house itself.

"Maybe we coul-"

"Looking for this?"

Elena and I's heads both spun around from our separate positions, staring increduously at the teenager standing by Elena's car.

I narrowed my eyes at him as he dangled my house key tauntingly between his fingers, his eyebrows raised but no hint of that mischevious grin on his face. That told me something at least. He didn't take it as a joke.

"Give it back, Liam." I demanded, staring at him but making no move to go and snatch it back from him.

"Come get it, Brooklyn." He snapped back, a frown crossing his angelic features. That caused Elena and I's eyebrows to both shoot up at the same time. Since when did Liam have such a cold tone to his voice?

"Now either you've just developed man period, or you're angry at me for some reason."

"Take a wild guess."

The condescending tone in his words caused my jaw to tighten, not liking the way he was suddenly talking to me.

"Well, what crawled up your arse and died?" I bit back, crossing my arms in a questioning manner.

"Why are you even here? Just give her the key back."

I turned back to my best friend, shooting her a supportive grin as she scowled disapprovingly at Liam. He simply stared at her for a moment, not responding before he turned back to me. His blue gaze captivated me, preventing me from letting rip another comment about his prescence and sudden anger.

"Like I said..." He trailed off, suddenly engulfing the keys in his fist, catching them mid-swing. "Come get them." That blue gaze turned away from me, his back slowly disappearing as he started to walk into the forest behind our house. I let out a growl of annoyance, my fist involuntarily clenching.

I threw my head over my shoulder, my feet automatically moving towards Liam as I looked at Elena. "I'll be back in a minute."

She simply raised her eyebrow for a second in an annoyed manner before leaning against the pillar beside my front door.

I begrudingly followed Liam deeper into the forest, crossing my arms over my chest as I muttered curses about the aggravated Original in front of me.

We must have walked for a good few minutes as I couldn't see any sign of road or my house in any direction around us. We were completely engufled in the stomach of the forest. The orange and brown leaves gathered around our feet, creating a loud crunch everytime we stepped.

I looked up from the floor, my eyes finding his as I suddenly paused, realising he'd stopped. I wrapped my arms tighter around my pullover hoodie, not feeling cold in the slighest but wanting to feel less vulnerable.

"Can I have my key back?" I asked hopefully, immediately shutting my mouth as he tucked his hand deep inside his own hoodie, obviously keeping a tight clutch on my key. "Please?" I added, hoping that would change his mind.

When he just kept glaring at me with his icy stare I decided it was best not to speak at all.

A few moments of silence passed by as he continued glaring me as I tried with all my might to avoid his gaze, realising he was much angrier than I actually expected him capable of being.

"Who was that guy you were talking to earlier?"

I felt a small feeling in my chest, but I was unable to identify it as my eyes shot up to his, a frown appearing on my face. When I saw the petulant scowl on his face as he asked the question, I almost let out a small chuckle. Was he...?

"Who, Dylan?" I laughed slightly, cocking my head to the side as his posture tightened. I noticed how the pocket of his hoodie grew in size slightly, suggesting he had tightened his fist.

"The boy with the black hair?"

"Yeah."

"Yes." The petulant scowl was back on his face as he seemed to get even more aggravated as I said his name.

"He's a friend." I said simply.

"He seemed a bit too interested to be simply a friend." he stated, a small growl escaping his lips. I noticed how he grudgingly controlled himself, looking down slightly as he tried to get a hold on his new found temper.

"We were just talking."

"He asked you to a party, Brook." The tone in his voice sent a possessive shiver down my spine. Why did he care? He didn't seem to want to spend more than 5 minutes with me before swooping off.

"Yes he did. What's the problem?" I brought my hand to my hip, raisng an eyebrow at him.

"Why did he do that?" HIs eyes suddenly looked three times darker than they ever have before. It was probably just the light.

"He's interested, according to Elena."

"He's what?"

"Interested. You know? When you want to do things to someone. Like, oh I don't know, hug them, hold their hand...kiss the-"

A huff of air flew past my lips as he flitted in front of me, his eyes staring deeply into mine. I suddenly felt really vulnerable. The pure predator in his eyes startled me slightly. I was taken aback when his head suddenly dipped down to my neck, provoking a small gasp to slip my lips once again.

My heart beat suddenly quickened as his nose traced my jawline, his breath coming out in comforting puffs along my skin.

"Liam...What the hell are you doing?" I managed to ask as my mouth dropped when his lips pressed to my neck.

"Claiming my property."

My hands clamped down on his shoulders, his hands clamping to my hips as his lips moved skillfully against my neck, sucking gently as I let out a small puff of laughter.

"Was someone jealous?" I teased, wrapping my arms around his neck as he let his lips leave my neck and trail to my jawline.

"He's not going to touch you."

"Is that a yes?"

He let out a laugh, bringing his head up to stare at me. "Yes Brook." A small smile curved into my lips. "It's a yes."

I frowned at him, causing him to also frown as I brought my hand up to my neck, searching around for the mark he left on me. My mouth dropped as I felt the slight damp of the lovebite he left on my neck.

"Liam!"

"What? I thought you wanted me to!"

"You dug your fangs into my flesh."

"Wait what?"

"YOU BIT MY NECK YOU IDIOT!"

His eyes widened for a minute, obviously not realising how out of control he'd gotten in his fit of jealous claiming. But soon enough, a cheeky grin broke out across his face.

"You've gotta admit, that makes it ten times hotter, right?"

I rolled my eyes, letting my hand drop to my hoodie to pull it up slightly over the bite mark. In all honesty, I wasn't annoyed at all. I found it quite a turn on, not gonna lie.

"Ok, since you bit my neck, you have to give me my key back."

He grinned, reaching into his pocket and gently throwing my key back. I caught it with ease and shook my head at him, suddenly realising that I now knew the reason he'd taken it. I threw him one last smile before turning to walk away. About five steps later, I paused, turning around to face him.

"Does this mean no more disappearing?"

A look of guilt crossed his face as he looked away, shoving his hands into his pocket as he slowly shuffled his feet towards me.

"I'm sorry about that, um," he brought his hand up to his neck, rubbing the back of it awkwardly, "Elijah suddenly has a thousand and ten things he wants me to do-"

"Wait, Elijah like, your brother Elijah?" I asked, narrowing my eyes slightly as a distant memory reminded me Eljiah was one of the Originals.

"Yeah."

"Oh, ok."

"But again, I'm really sorry."

I stared at him. "It's alright."

He grinned, grabbing my hand and gently swinging it between us. "I'll see you around, ok?"

I smiled back. "Of course."

Bringing our hands up to his mouth, he gently placed a kiss to my knuckles, our eyes staying locked the entire time. A small flock of butterflies erupted in my stomach just as he shot off, leaving me grinning like an idiot in the middle of the forest.
