Hey dudes! Sorry for the delay in an update but it's been Christmas and I've had to transfer EVERYTHING from my old laptop to my new one, and I'm still not finished -_-

anyway, here we go :D

Chapter Twenty

I stared at the board, tapping my pencil impatiently against my ageing textbook.

"Cleopatra was female."

I couldn't help but raise my eyebrow and drop my jaw at the statement that just came out of my History teachers mouth.

Well, no, DUH. I turned my head to look at Elena, who looked just as dumbfounded by the obviousness of the statement.

As if sensing me staring, she turned her head, making an exasperated face and slamming her jaw into her palm.

"We've still got an hour to go." I pointed out, grinning manically at her. She looked at the front, checking the teacher wasn't looking before playfully flipping me the bird under her desk.

I let out a low laugh before shaking my head and turning back to the board, sighing as I realised he was writing up a shit load of obvious facts for me to copy up.

Letting out a gush of air between my teeth, I pushed away my textbook, pulling forward my simple notebook.

I slowly flipped it open, slowly scanning the pages in search of a new, unused one. When I came to it, I again, slowly began to write the title and first fact onto the page.

Once I finished, I raised my head, slumping my head to the side as I read the second fact.

Cleopatra was also Egyptian and married to Julius Caesur.

"Oh my God, did you just board a boat because you're captain obvious." I muttered under my breath, shaking my head as I continued to write down the stupid and most pointless fact.

My hand froze mid-sentence as I heard a round of giggles suddenly engulf the classroom. Looking up slightly, my eyes wide, I saw a few students look back at me and giggle, shooting me approving glances.

Oh shit. Did I not whisper that?

"What was that, Miss Salvatore?"

Closing my eyes momentarily, I looked up, plastering on the most innocent smile I could muster at that point in time. "Nothing. Just saying  I admire your handwriting."

I grimaced at the narrowed eyed expression he suddenly shot me. "Is that sarcasm?"

I pulled my head back in a 'wow dude chill jeez' sort of way before shaking my head, and darting my eyes from side to side. "What? No! You're reading into this too much, just take the compliment."

His bushy eyebrows shot up, cocking his head to the side as he stared at me. I pressed the palm of my hand, forcefully onto my face, realising how 'rude' that sounded. It wasn't actually rude, but you know how teachers are, you say 'excuse me' and they react like you just stabbed their first child in front of them.

"Excuse me?"

As much as I wanted to reply 'you're excused' I pushed it down, simply muttering a 'sorry' that I certainly did not mean under my breath, keeping my head down to avoid his practiced icy teacher glare of disappointment.

I ignored the growing sea of snickers around the classroom from my fellow acquaintances and continued to just be a good little school child and copy up the notes that I would never look at again into my notebook, hoping to survive the rest of the lesson without another teacher hissy fit.

------

I was just about to fall asleep into my hand, my eyes drooping closed as the teacher explained our homework, when the loud bell suddenly jerked me awake. I straightened myself, staring wild-eyed around the room as I noticed everyone reaching under their desks to get their bags.

I quickly blinked my eyes, reaching under the desk to get my own bag before slamming it onto the desk and shoving everything inside. I shuffled out with the rest of our classmates, rolling my eyes as they apparently inherited the genes of an extremely slow snail.

"Brook!"

I spun around, beaming wildly as Elena shoved through the crowd, grinning back at me as she walked in step with me out of the old school building.

We were just exchaning gossip when she asked me something that made me choke on the air around me.

"Did you see Dylan checking you out during P.E?"

Nearly falling down the stairs we were walking down, I stared at her, grabbing her arm for support as we finally came onto the gravel pavement.

"You what now, mate?"

"Dylan, you know, the hot one with the green eyes?"

Oh, trust me. I knew who Dylan was. He was one of those guys that all the innocent girls fell for. But he wasn't a 'player' as far as I knew. He just hasn't been seen with a girl in a while.

"I know him. I just don't believe he was 'checking me out' as you so bluntly put it."

"If you don't consider staring at you for about 5 minutes straight without blinking, checking you out then seriously you need to read up on your boy language."

"Why would he be looking at me?" I demanded, stopping and crossing my arms, raising my eyebrows at her as I waited for an explanation.

"Because you're pretty an-"

"Now, I'm gonna stop you right there," I laughed, placing a hand on her shoulder, "I am not 'pretty'. I am the reincarnation of a troll. Good? Good, ok. Moving on-"

"No, no, no you don't we are talking about this."

"There's nothing to talk about, but A+ for effort."

"Shut up, we are talking about this and you are going to put up with it."

"There is nothing, nothing to talk about. Seriously why bring up something when there's nothing to keep the conversation going? Jesus, you sure know how to start a good conversation." I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes as I grabbed her arm to start walking away.

I frowned and simply stared ahead of me as I realised she was digging her heels into the ground. "Do not make me drag you, Gilbert."

"Go on, I dare you."

"Do you want your arm to be torn from your body, because I will do that an-"

"Hey, Brook."

Immediately letting go of her arm, I straightened up, swivelling on my heel as I stared at the person that belonged to the deep voice.

"Dylan. What a surprise!" Elena gushed, grinning broadly up at him as she placed a hand on her hip. I stared at her, really? Really? You were going to make me engage in a conversation with him after the information you just told me?

L O W BLOW GILBERT

SERIOUSLY LOW BLOW

LIKE RIGHT IN THE FAMILY JEWELS LOW BLOW

I made a silent pledge to get back at her once this was over before staring up at the tall, muscular boy with a sincere smile.

"Hey, Dylan."

"Well, I'm going to leave you two alone..." Elena grinned, spinning on her heel to walk away past me, grinning evilly at me once her back was to Dylan, winking. I widened my eyes, spinning around to grab her arm once again.

"Get back here you little shit, or I swear to God-"

"GO GET 'EM!" She simply shouted, twisting her arm out of my grip and shoving me, face forwards to Dylan.

I grinned sheepishly as I stopped in front of him, a blush creeping onto my cheeks as I stared into his bright green eyes. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't interested. As far as I was concerned, I still had a major interest in that little shit, Liam Mikaelson. But Dylan was damn fine. You'd have to be an absolute idiot to turn away from him.

But you just did that...

Yeah, well, let's be honest, I am an idiot, aren't I?

So, I'm only living up to my reputation.

"I just wanted to ask if you were going to the party on Friday?"

How very cliche.

"There's a party on Friday?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah," he chuckled, "Anyway you should come. You'd be great fun."

I almost blushed at his comment. But to be honest, I probably wouldn't go so I don't see why I should blush.

"Where is it?"

"It's at Jack's house."

I simply let out a sound of recognition. Jack was the party hoster for mostly everyone's parties simply because his house was massive and a horny teenagers perfect play house.

He had a swimming pool, at least 12 bedrooms. He was basically the pimp daddy of parties.

"I'll see." I grinned, not meaning to play hard to get but by the expression Dylan gave me, I'd guess that was the impression I was giving off at the moment.

"I'll be looking out for you." He said, lowering his upper half slighlty in a form of a bow, making me smile as he slowly backed away. "See you around, Brook."

I nodded, shaking my head up and down, letting out a small scream as Elena grabbed my shoulders and spun me around.

"HOLY SHITAKI, YOU'RE GETTING THE D."

"WOAH WOAH CALM DOWN, GILBERT, I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I'M GONNA GO."

"YOU HAVE NO SAY IN THE MATTER, YOU'RE GOING."

"HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN I HAVE TWO BROTHERS THAT ARE EXTREMELY SUSPICOUS OF ME HAVING MALE COMPANY? THERE  IS NO WAY THEY ARE LETTING ME OUT."

"THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE YOU ARE GOING."

"BUT WHAT ABOUT LIAM?" I clamped my hand over my mouth, darting my eyes around the car park in hope that no one had heard. They were all just doing their own shizam, so I was guessing they either just didn't hear me or geniunely didn't give a shit.

"ASK HIM TO COME."

"HE'S A VAMPIRE,"

"SO ARE YOU."

"EXACTLY SO WHY THE HELL AM I GOING? DO YOU KNOW WHAT VAMPIRES DO? BLOOD EQUALS YUM YUM."

"BUT YOU'RE CONTROLLED ENOUGH TO RESIST THAT."

"So's Liam," I frowned, instantly coming to his defence despite the pain in the arse he's been.

"You're seriously into this whole Original, Alpha Male, dude thing aren't you?"

I gave her my best 'seriously' face before shaking my head and rolling my eyes. "I like him, yeah."

"You like him a lot." she pointed out.

"Yeah, I guess I do." I whispered.

"You want the d."

"What is it with you and the d? Seriously I thought men were supposed to be the horny ones."

"Bit rude, but fair point."

I let out a chuckle, reaching for the handle of Elena's car.

I pulled the handle, moving backwards as the door slung open.

"By the way,"

I looked up, locking eyes with my best friend over the top of the vehicle.

"You're still going to that party."

Rolling my eyes, I shook my head. "Whatever you say, hornball."
