the prom party runs until about 1:30 am. by the time it hits 1, matt is yawning so much and struggling to stay awake so he goes over to where kaia is dancing with some of her girlfriends.

"matt! how are you, baby?" kaia energetically hugs him and turns away from the girls dancing.

"i'm getting pretty tired, are you ready to go home?" he hugs her back and whispers in her ear so she can hear over the music.

kaia looks back at her friends who are still dancing, then to matt who looks exhausted. obviously because he doesn't drink and she's had a few to keep herself awake throughout the night.

"yeah, let's go." kaia nods and takes matt's tired hand.

once they found nick, zeke, chloe, chris, amanda, and nate, they ask everyone if they are also read to leave.

everyone agrees and they cram back into the car, first dropping off nathan and amanda at his house.

after dropping those two off, matt drives back to his house for some much needed rest for the flight the next day.

they all say goodnight in the living room after kicking their shoes off and heading to their bedrooms.

once inside matt's room, he very tiredly takes off his suit and helps kaia unzip her dress, hanging it up on the back of the door.

they both change into their sleep clothes and cuddle up under the big warm blanket after a long night.

"did you set an alarm so we wake up on time tomorrow?" matt yawns and asks kaia as he plugs his phone in and turns back towards her.

"mhm." she nods, wrapping her arms around him and getting more comfortable, making sure his hair isn't in his face as she lays on his chest.

"goodnight, i love you." matt yawns again, kissing her forehead.

"love you most." she kisses his cheek and they both fall completely asleep within 5 minutes.

the next morning

matt and kaia both wake up to her alarm set at 9am.

she rolls over and out of his arms to shut off the alarm and she starts to hear everyone else in the house waking up as well.

"what time is it?" matt asks groggily, rubbing his eyes.

"9. we have to get ready for the airport." she replies while yawning.

kaia stands up out of bed and walks over to matt's mirror to see how bad her hair looks after sleeping.

"shit, i didn't take my makeup off last night." kaia groans and takes her makeup remover out of her bag, walking out of matt's room and down the hallway to the bathroom.

matt watches her walk out and leans on one arm to check his phone. after a couple minutes of scrolling through insragram, kaia walks back into his room with a clean fresh face and is wiping it dry with a towel.

matt looks up from his phone and smiles at her, blushing before looking back at his phone.

"what?" kaia laughs and puts the remover back in her bag.

"nothing." he shrugs and shuts off his phone.

kaia playfully rolls her eyes and crouches down to look through her bag for the pink fresh love set from chris she was gonna wear to the airport.

"i was gonna wear my blue one, we're gonna look so cheesy." matt sits up and scooches down to the end of the bed.

"it'll be fine, if anyone says anything chris will be there and we'll just say we're representing his brand or something." kaia shrugs and stands up to walk over to the bed.

she sets the set down and matt is watching her intently.

"why do you keep staring at me?" kaia turns her attention to matt.

"i don't know what you're talking about." matt denies and pulls her to stand between his legs where he's sitting at the edge of his bed.

"don't look at me like that, we have to get ready for the airport." kaia smiles at him as his hands creep under her sleep shirt to rub her back.

"there's 3 hours." matt smiles at her and rests his hands on her waist.

"3 hours that we have to spend finishing packing then dropping zeke off. plus check in and tsa takes a while." kaia shakes her head at matt and runs her hands through his messy hair.

"3 hours minus, likeee, 20 minutes leaves plenty of time. plus, you really think everyone's gonna be ready that soon?" he scratches up and down her bare back.

"matt." kaia presses her lips flat and shakes her head at him.

he puckers her lips dramatically and she leans down to kiss him.

downstairs, chloe starts making breakfast for everyone. nick and zeke come out of his bedroom and straight into the kitchen, joining everyone around the island.

"sleep well, lovebirds?" chris asks jokingly.

"fuck off, chris." nicks smacks his back.

"ow!" chris whines, rubbing the spot nick hit him.

"do you like pancakes, zeke?" chloe turns around from the stove to ask him.

"definitely. what are you putting in them?" he looks at the pancakes currently cooking.

"some chocolate chip, some blueberry." she answers, flipping them.

"i'll take blueberry." zeke answers kindly.

"sounds good." chloe shows him a thumbs up and adds more batter to the  pan.

"are matt and kaia coming down for breakfast?" nick asks as he fills a glass with orange juice.

"give them a few minutes." chloe answers with a hidden smile while she's facing the oven.

chris and nick look at eachother and roll their eyes, zeke doesn't notice.

10 minutes later, matt and kaia come downstairs wearing their fresh love sweat suits.

"you missed pancakes, chris ate them all." chloe apologizes while putting the dirty dishes into the sink.

"chris!" matt shouts at him.

"it's fine, we can grab something at the airport." kaia rubs matt's back so he doesn't get more angry.

"we should probably get going." nick stands up from his seat.

"sorry we couldn't take you, there were no tickets left last minute, i looked online." kaia apologizes to zeke as everyone is walking towards the front door with all their bags.

"oh, don't worry about it. i'm scared of flying, anyway." zeke assures her.

"well, maybe next time?" nick looks at zeke.

"mayyyybe." he laughs and nods.

chris takes it upon himself to pack everyone's bags into the trunk by himself. he gets them all in and shuts it, getting into the car with everyone.

matt first drives to zeke's house to drop him off. nick gives him a hug goodbye, then matt drives off to nate's house after he texted that amanda just went home.

they pick up nate and he tosses his bags into the trunk before they drive off for the airport.

it takes a little while to get through the check in, but they all get to the waiting area outside of their gate with a half hour to spare.

after their flight gets called and everyone is loaded onto the plane, the whole flight goes well and they smoothly make it to california.

nick orders an uber xl to take them all back to the triplet's la house.
