Chapter 19

KRONOS POV

Mother had always been interested with humans. She loved going to the human world and liked to explore it. She told me humans were wonderful, fascinating creatures as well. Because of her stories, I too, wanted to meet a human. Despite the fact that Father despises humans, she still liked to travel around.

"Mother, are humans nice?" I asked (Age: Child)

"Yes they are. They're very nice but at the same time, they can be very mean" Mother said

"Really?" I asked

"Humans are like us demons, how funny is that? But the thing is, they have something that we demons don't have" Mother said

"What is that?" I asked

Mother hugged me tightly.

"Choices" Mother said

"Choices?" I asked

I felt something dripping on my cheek

I touched my cheek and looked at my fingers.

My eyes widened..

Blood?

Suddenly, the scenary changed around me.

This place..

<BOOM>

I flinched.

I stared at the deep red sky..

The trees were burnt and the castle was being invaded..

By those stupid exorcists...

I heard a scream..

I ran towards the scream and saw a sword impaled into a body facing the floor..

"M-Mother?!" I exclaimed

I ran to her body.

Mother was still breathing.. but barely

"MOTHER!!!" I shouted

I stared at the sword that was radiating..

If I can just take it out...

I reached for the sword but suddenly, Mother grabbed my hand.

"D-Don't... It's dangerous if you touch it.. You'll hurt yourself" Mother said

"Who did this to you?!" I asked

"N-No one.. Just... get out of here. T-Take Krylne with you" Mother said as she pushed herself up

As she slowly pushed herself up, she lifted her body off the floor.

"M-Mother.." I said

The sword was still stuck onto her back with blood dripping down tremendously..

I noticed a trapdoor beneath her body...

"What's that?" I asked

"O-Open it... And follow the path.. You'll be safe" Mother said

"But...." I said

I stared at her wound which seemed to be worsening..

I heard footsteps heading towards our way

"They're coming..." Mother said with terrified eyes

"Who?" I asked

"The exorcists! You must go, now!" Mother said as she opened the door

I noticed Krylne laying down in the hole..

"But what about yo--" I asked

"DON'T MIND ME! JUST GO!!" Mother said as she pushed me down

I landed next to Krylne..

The door slammed shut..

"MOTHER!!" I shouted

I went to open the trapdoor but it won't budge..

Don't tell me... she's laying on top of it?!

I suddenly heard a scream...

My eyes widened.

"No!! NO!!!" I cried

"Mother!!! OPEN UP!!" I shouted as I slammed my hands onto the door

I noticed something dripping down through the floor..

My eyes widened..

I wiped the red liquid off my face..

Mother.....

I clenched my fists..

I stared at Krylne who's unconscious..

I piggy-backed him and followed Mother's last words..

I noticed another trapdoor at the top of the tunnel.

I opened it and climbed the ladder that led out of it.

An underground room?

I placed Krylne down then followed the path ahead from the room..

I noticed that outside was the forest..

I turned back and saw a tree?

I walked back inside and noticed Krylne was awake..

"KRYLNE! ARE YOU OKAY?!" I exclaimed

He stared at the floor..

"What's wrong?" I asked

Krylne sighed..

"Mother died.. didn't she?" Krylne asked

"What do you mean?" I asked

"She got stabbed in front of me after all..." Krylne said

My eyes widened.

"How stupid" Krylne chuckled

Stupid?

"What a boring woman... She died so easily" Krylne sighed

I clenched my fists...

"Don't you agree too? Older brother..." Krylne smiled

I opened my eyes..

.......Wait..

What...

A Dream...

Tch... That Krylne..

I still never understood why he smiled that day.

Why would he? He loved Mother the most..

Ever since Mother died...

He...

"Oh! You're awake"

I turned around then saw Jaeryeong..

"O-Oh... It's you" I said

"Of course it's me. Who else could it be?" Jaeryeong asked

I stared at the place where Krylne once laid...

"Nothing..." I said

"I got us some food" Jaeryeong said

"Huh? How?" I asked

"Oh.... That's because--" Jaeryeong said

"That's because I gave her food"

I turned around and stood up.

"What are you doing here?" I asked

"I'm here to protect my Master's Master. Does that make sense?" Wynstro asked

"...Master's Master? Hah.. I see.." I said

"Wonho, is everything okay at the castle?" Jaeryeong asked

"No... Avery's still on rampage. She's after you and Kronos. She even ordered her whole castle to find you. She's that desperate now..." Wynstro said

"W-Why??" Jaeryeong asked

I chuckled..

"I understand... what she wants now" I said

"What?" Jaeryeong asked

"She wants to find me and kill me.. Then after that, she'll kill you secretly. Most likely, after... She'll just say I killed you according to plan and did something to betray the kingdom. She's a mischevious person afterall" I said

"What??! KILL ME?! But Delancey would be sad--" Jaeryeong said

"But Delancey wouldn't know Avery killed you and only hate Kronos" Wynstro said

"Haha... Looks like we're stuck here until then" I said

"W-Wait, what about your father?! What's Satan doing?? Letting his own castle being attacked" Jaeryeong said

"Pfft. You really think The Satan would care?" I asked

"Yes! HE SHOULD!" Jaeryeong said

"And why is that?" I asked

"BECAUSE YOU'RE HIS SON" Jaeryeong stated

I chuckled..

This girl... is seriously interesting..

However, she doesn't know.. that the word "Son" doesn't matter to him... at all

"Hey Wynstro, can you leave us alone for awhile? I would like to talk to her privately. Bring us our food later" I ordered

"....As you wish" Wynstro bowed then left the tree

JAERYEONG POV

"W-What do you want to talk about?" I asked

Kronos walked towards me..

"Want to know?" Kronos asked

"What?" I asked

"Would you want to know... Why Krylne left the Demon Realm in the first place? Why he... hated this place?" Kronos asked

Why.... Krylne hated this place?

........I do wonder why..

"Do you wish to know why Avery wants to marry him?" Kronos asked

Why Avery wants to marry him?

"Isn't it because she loves him?" I asked

"That's half correct" Kronos said

What?

"She wishes him to be free. Krylne wants freedom. He wants to make his own Choices" Kronos said

"Freedom? From what?" I asked

"....You see.." Kronos said as he walked up to me

He leaned down to my ear..

"Krylne had been imprisoned his whole life"
