Chapter 19 | Response

- KYOKO POV -

With his eyebrows still lowered, I became nervous, fumbling my fingers that were now behind my back. That ... was probably going too far ...

"Sorry?" I said trying to force a small smile. Maybe ... if shouldn't have done that ...

As I watched his face relax, a sudden gust of wind blew against my back, causing my hair to fly around crazily - even though it was tied back. As I tried to remove the loose hair out of my face as the wind calmed down - to my surprise, Sesshomaru had left.

Wait - where did he go? Turning my head side to side, I caught sight of him in the distance to my left. He was departing from here. I didn't even hear him move ...

"Hey!" I said following him. Where is he going?

Going over the small grass hill, I sprinted towards the trees in front of me, seeing Sesshomaru in the distance walking along a paved dirt path.

As we trudged through the woods, the trees around us shaded us from the blazing sun above; the small chips of birds and the howling wind sounding around us.

Stopping in my tracks, I stayed put as Sesshomaru continued forward. Jaken mentioned they were looking for someone. Does Sesshomaru linger and walk around here because he's looking for them?

"Sesshomaru" I said making him stop and turn back halfway to face me.

"Who are you looking for?"

I need to know. His presence here is interfering with my thinking and responsibility. I'm not focused. Maybe if I help him ... he'll leave. This should be a good thing ... so why do I feel ... upset?

As I awaited for an answer, Sesshomaru stood unmoving. He then spoke. " It does not involve you priestess, do not meddle in things that do not concern you."

Meddle?!

Now angry, I walked up to him - glaring. " So you can ask me personal questions but I can't? How is that fair?"

"You do not have to answer me priestess, you could have chosen not to."

I could've chose not to?! Why you -

Before I could finish what I was about to say, Sesshomaru had walked up to me, now closer than he had ever been towards me. Reaching out with his hand, Sesshomaru carefully took the Cherry Blossom that I had placed behind my ear.

Holding it, Sesshomaru twirled it around with his fingers - before holding it still and turning his back to me.

Walking away, I was left by myself.

Feeling my face become hot, I dropped my bow, grabbing my face, pulling it in annoyance and embarrassment.

As I stood there, I felt my heartbeat quicken and thump in my chest. What is wrong with him?... even Tatsumori was never this forward with his - teasing humans play ...

Putting my hands down, I knelt down and picked up my bow, gripping it.

Get a grip Kyoko.
