Chapter 20 | Discussion

- KYOKO POV -

As I tried to catch my breath, I wiped the sweat that had formed on my forehead. Holding my hands at my side, I held my bow in one hand, looking down on the dead snake demon that I now stood on top of.

Stepping off of it, I planted the end of my bow on the ground, attempting to hold myself up.

Looking around me, part of the trees had fallen and had been destroyed by the snake demon's rampage.

There ... haven't been demons around the barrier for a long time ... so why now?

Usually ... Sesshomaru would be around here at this time of day ... but where is he?...

Standing up straighter, I turned around reaching my hand out towards the demons snake head. Yanking out my arrow that had been shot into it, the demons dark red blood had now dried.

As I stared at it in my hand, the sound of rustling caught my ears. Whipping around, I quickly positioned the arrow on my bow, easing it up at the bushes where the noise had come from.

Pulling the arrow and the string back further, I waited for them to come out. It's a demon - I know it is.

Coming out, the little green demon Jaken was riding the back of the two headed horse demon I had assumed was named A - Un.

Lowering my bow, I felt my eyebrows lower in annoyance. I was about to shoot him had he not come out sooner ...

Ignoring the two of them, I faced back to the demon that lay on the ground; Walking over towards its back to where another one of my arrows had been planted in their skin.

Hearing Jaken come off of A - Un's back, he landed with a small thump and walked towards me.

"You! Priestess! I demand you tell me if you have seen Lord Sesshomaru!"

So Jaken hasn't seen him either?

"I don't know, Jaken, I was about to ask the same of you." I said now yanking out another one of my sacred arrows from the snake demon.

Now angry, he pouted loudly. " I can't believe Lord Sesshomaru left me behind again! He probably went off to see that useless human!"

Useless human? Last time he mentioned a human their name was ... Rin.

"Is she ... his lover?" I asked, still avoiding making eye contact with him.

"What?! My Lord Sesshomaru would never take a human as his lover! How absurd!"

Then ... why does he go to her?

Coming over next to me, he began again." I don't know why my lord Sesshomaru keeps that dumb child around!"

Child?

"Is she nice?" I asked trying to find out more about this Rin.

"Hah!No! That little pest is so naive and weak!"

Okay? Sliding my quiver off my shoulder, I kneeled on the ground, putting my two arrows in it.

"Does ... Sesshomaru not like humans?"

Pouting, he then stopped drooping in despair. "Oh! - I do not know! Ever since my Lords half brother Inuyasha was unsealed from his slumber, Lord Sesshomaru has been showing strange behavior towards others!"

Sesshomaru has a brother? I ... think I've heard of this Inuyasha before ... I just can't remember where. So ... his brothers return has caused him to show different behavior towards others? Or is it ... the girl?

Standing up, I then slung my quiver back over my shoulder. I shouldn't be thinking about things that are none of business anyway...

"Well- that sounds ... concerning?"

Starting to walk away, I then spoke, excusing myself from this awkward topic of conversation. " Anyway ... Bye."

As I walked forwards back towards the shrine, I thought hard about what Jaken had said. Sesshomaru has changed? How was he before? ... and ... why do I feel so ... envious?
