Chapter 14 | Wounded

- KYOKO POV -

The morning was warm, the snow and ice having been completely melted and dissolved by the sun that now showed, no longer hidden under gray clouds. Having made my way down to the bottom of the mountain, I set bamboo fish traps along the side of a stream. Waiting, I was left with my thoughts.

Sesshomaru must have his own reasons for slaying the demons that come near here. Why else are they not coming as frequently? Sitting down on a rock nearby, I contemplated reasons in my mind. It ... doesn't make sense.

Rustling, the sound of ruffling bushes made me turn back behind me. Emerging from the bushes, Jaken and the horse dragon demon came towards me.

Looking curious, Jaken spoke to me, " What are you doing Priestess?!"

"Fishing?" I said blankly.

Watching the water, I noticed that they did not leave. " Jaken, do you know why Sesshomaru is slaying the demons that come for the Muranaga?" I asked turning to him.

Opening his mouth he stopped for a moment before he spoke with his shrill voice, " Milord will not tell me, and it's none of your business!!"

So that's a no. Hearing the water I felt somewhat relaxed. Before they came here, I didn't get to do this often. Sighing I rubbed my temple. I shouldn't get used to this though, they might leave again like before.

Jumping up I tensed up sensing an demonic aura. Grabbing my bow, a wave of terror shook my body . A demon.

Coming fast towards us, the demon that had once been in the distance was now before me; gigantic and menacing. Releasing my sacred arrow quickly, a purple light sprang forth as I let the arrow go, hitting the demon in the chest. However, the demon did not disintegrate. What?

Bearing their fangs and claws, they suddenly extended their arm out as if it grab me. Ducking out of the way, I moved back, readying another arrow.

"You fool, run away!" Jaken said from his hiding spot in the trees.

Scoffing towards Jaken, I hit the demon again and it's arm disintegrated. Roaring out in pain the demon lunged towards me. Stepping out of the of the way of the flying dirt and it's hand now in a fist, I took out a paper talisman.

Laying many on the ground, soon they surrounded the demon in a circle. Before the demon could come at me again I put my hands together in a clap. Doing so, the demon became trapped in the barrier I had just made with the talismans I placed. As the talismans started to take affect, inside of the barrier they electrocuted the demon continuously until he fell back, blood coming from his mouth and cuts.

Panting I wiped the sweat running down my cheek. Walking towards the demon I walked up on top of its chest; pulling out the first arrow I had shot at it. Looking down on the bleeding demon I scowled. It was dead.

As the wind moved my hair behind me it swayed in a violent and fast matter. Looking in front of me, I stiffened. Sesshomaru. His white hair swayed behind him delicately and swiftly. His yellow fire like eyes pierced me as he stared at me. Did he watch the whole thing?

I ... must look awful. I ... probably had an ugly look on my face just now. Turning away, my heart throbbed in pain. What was this ache that has me feeling so ... ashamed of myself?

Coming towards me Sesshomaru didn't seem to mind the scattered bits of demon flesh and blood before him. Trying to move off the demons chest as fast as I could, I was immediately met face to face with Sesshomaru who appeared out of nowhere.

Grabbing my hand he then looked at it for a moment. Before I could ask him why, he then brought my bleeding finger to his mouth and put it in his.

I could feel by body go into a shock and I pulled back immediately, feeling my face flush red.
