- KYOKO POV -

As the wind blew hard against the shine, I moved closer towards the fire, trying to warm myself. Glancing out towards of the shrines entrance I looked out in the the distance. I felt almost ... guilty that those three were out there in the cold ... but they should be fine ... their demons after all.

Biting my lip I tried to bury my feelings of pity. It was their choice to stick around, they could leave when they wanted to.

Fumbling my fingers I sat against the wall, furrowing my eyebrows. There are usually demons at this hour, why aren't their any?

Standing up, I grabbed my bow and coat, walking out of the shrine. The bright day that had been here before had grown dark before me as the snowfall blew harshly against me, almost knocking me over.

As I trudged through the snow I walked a ways down along a dirt path - which was now covered in snow. What is going on?

As the snow blew in my face I stopped, sensing the aura of a demon. Readying my bow I positioned it in front of me, ready to kill whatever was coming towards me. As the demon came closer I loosened my hold a little.

Coming out of the wood, the demon came lunging towards me. Moving to release the arrow, the demon disintegrated before me.

In front of me stood Sesshomaru, a sword in his hand.

"Sesshomaru ..."

His yellow eyes shined faintly and were somewhat illuminated by the dim moonlight.

Lowering my bow I walked towards him with the intent of getting a answer from him.

"Have you been killing the demons?"

Trying to be serious I gave him a stern expression. However the snow around me was not helping as I felt discomfort from the freezing cold.

As we both stood there I once more felt impatient. If this keeps going on I'm never going to get him to talk to me. I need to try a different approach.

Sighing, I exhaled seeing my breath in the air. " Don't you get cold?" I said making eye contact with him. Questioning was getting me nowhere, so I could at least try small talk.

"No." He said. I felt my heartbeat race. I guess he'll answer to small talk. I take it he doesn't like being questioned ... that's a big ego ...

Trying to hold back a chuckle I stood a ways close to him. " Well ... Goodnight."

Leaving, I felt some sort of achievement. He's a strange character I'll admit. Maybe one day he might learn to talk more.

The morning light glared on my face causing me to squint. The snow outside was starting to melt. Going down the steps that led up to the shrine; I sensed Jakens presence. Walking along the dirt path and trees that had lost their green leaves, in the distance walking, Jaken sat on the horse dragon demons back, his back turned back to me.

Catching up with them, I walked a ways beside the two of them. Taking no notice to me, Jaken then began to talk to himself." My Lord is being so unreasonable these days, I just don't know what to do!" " oh how I wish Milord would tell me why we linger around here! My Lord Sesshomaru should have no need for the Muranaga!"

Glancing at him, Jaken finally took notice to me. Startled, he fell back off the horse dragon demon, landing on the ground with a thud.

Trying not to evilly smile, I questioned why I found this tiny demon annoying and fun to tease at the same time.

As Jaken laid there for a short while, the horse dragon demon moved both of their heads towards me. Bowing down their heads slightly, the two extended them out. They were gesturing that they wanted to be pet. Hesitant, I never thought I would be invited to ... pet, a demon. Reaching out I rubbed one of them on the head. I didn't exactly hate demons or were disgusted by them ... but the most I'd met were unearthly beasts.

Finally getting up, Jaken yapped at me, "How dare you sneak up on me woman!"

Annoyed I glared at him my eyes brows furrowed down in irritation." I told you to call me Kyoko."

Lifting himself up, his mouth gaped seeing his horse dragon demon allowing me to pet them. " A- Un, get away from the human!"

Rolling my eyes, I moved onto the other horse dragon demons head giving them a rub under their chin. Ceasing my touch, I ignored Jakens complaints; readjusting the quiver on my back. I can't believe I just petted a demon. Am I becoming crazy with them here?
