Chapter 3
00:14, 2 August 2025I enter the classroom, a bunch of unfamiliar faces staring into my soul. I awkwardly smile and walk to the back of the class. The only spare seats being next to a brunette boy, or a girl with dark brown hair with a warm brown glowing complexion. She seems like the safer option. I walk over to the seat, "Can I sit here?" The girl smiles and nods swiftly. There's something about her. I don't know what, but I can almost feel it?
"I'm Bonnie!" She says, introducing herself whilst smiling. I return the smile, "Y/N".
I turn to look at my desk and immediate notice I have no equipment. "Here." Bonnie says, passing me a textbook and a few pens. "Thanks, I got up in a rush this morning." I lie. I didn't get up in a rush, I'm a poor girl and I'm homeless. The unnecessary stuff for these guys are practically my necessities.
Class begins, and everyone's taking notes. I'm bored out of mind, looking out the window, at the other students, drawing on my hand and I'm surprised I haven't fallen asleep. "So, are you new?" Bonnie asks, distracting me from my thoughts. I nod. "Where did you come from?" She further asks. "I don't know, my mum's vagina if I'm being completely honest." I joke, laughing at myself because I truly do believe I'm the funniest person alive. "At least you're honest." She shrugs, "No pressure to tell me anything you don't want to."
I sigh, "Uh, I moved here from England, I don't really have parents, kinda broke but that's the least of my concerns. There, I feel like I've summed I up well." I say. Bonnie looks at me and gives me a half smile, "I hope you're okay." I nod to reassure her that I'm fine, but in reality? I'm not. I'm far from fine. Whatever's opposite of fine on the spectrum is what Iam.
Bonnie and I continue to talk throughout the lesson, not really paying attention to the teacher and not having the slight care of taking down notes. I fear this may be somewhat of my bad influence? Heh, who knows.
As the class begins to pack up, Bonnie taps my shoulder, "Hey, you should hang out with me at lunch. A couple of my other friends will be there, but they're really sweet. You'll love them." I think about it, "Thanks Bonnie, but uh I'm already meeting someone for lunch. Maybe next time?" She says okay and I start making my way out of class.
I begin walking down the hallway and to the stairs, "Wow, forget about me that quick?" A familiar voice speaks from my side. I turn to look and am met with Stefan's eyes glaring at mine. "NO, I WAS COMING TO LOOK FOR YOU?" I say in defence, a little excited to see that he followed through with his word. "After I told you I'd meet you outside your class, you decide to go down the stairs to find me. Interesting." He says blandly, with a hint of humour in his tone. I smile, he's cute and he's already making me happy?
"So is it break now?" I ask as we walk through the corridors. "Yeah for a couple minutes until your next lesson, which is?" He questions. I laugh, "I don't even know, I'll figure it out later." He nods.
I mentally debate whether I should tell him I've already made a friend, well she is a friend I guess? She asked me to hangout at lunch, but, I don't want to miss an opportunity of being around Stefan. From what I've gathered, he's funny, sweet, kind and altogether a gentleman WITH personality. I'm keeping him.
I eventually check my timetable to see what my next lesson is. Maths. "Uh, I have maths next." I tell Stefan. "Maths?" He says, his brows furrow in confusion. I raise my eyebrow and he looks at me like I'm some alien. "Maths?" He repeats. "Yeah Stefan, maths. What about it?" I sigh. He giggles, "Its math, not maths."
I gasp, "The disREPECT." I begin. "Like sorry I'm not American enough for you, but I haven't even been here a MONTH?" He apologises and we walk to my next lesson. Before I go in I ask, "Are we still meeting for lunch?" I feel like the way I said it came out a little desperate but I'm glad I got it out of the way. "Yeah Y/N, of course." He smiles before going to his own lesson.
~~~~~~~
My math lesson FINALLY ends, and I wait outside my class for Stefan to arrive. Surprisingly, I notice him before he sees me. When he does lock eyes with me, I can't help but wave, and he returns it with a simple hand up in the air for a few seconds, then comes to me.
"How was maths?" He asked, and I could immediately tell he was trying to tease me. "MATH, was good." I say, emphasising the word 'Math'. "Actually no why am I lying, it was absolutely shit." Stefan laughs, shaking his head, "You know, you're actually funnier than I thought you'd be." I give a look of offence, "You know, you're actually not as annoying as I thought you'd be." I roll my eyes and begin to speed walk, several paces infront of Stefan.
"Y/N wait up!" He somewhat shouts, meeting me at my pace quicker than I thought. "Gosh, you're so dramatic." he smirked. "Stop complaining, you love it." I snap back with. He doesn't say anything. "Exactly." I say, following with, "So what are we doing for lunch?"
"Well, are you hungry?" He asks. "I'm friggin hungry." I reply with. He explains that there are food shops, cafes or the mystic grill which we could visit. "I'm not that hungry, I just want a light snack." He nods understandingly and we find a quiet café near the school. We both order coffee, Stefan, his usual coffee, and me, an iced with a chicken wrap.
"Who even came up with iced coffee?" He retorts. "I don't know, but they deserve everything they want and more." I remark as the waitress brings us our food. He then begins to go on a rant about how unusual it is and the concept is strange. It's funny seeing how angry he gets over something so innocent. Of course I know he's joking, but still, he has humour, something I haven't seen in a man for a while. Well, in England anyway.
I place the chicken wrap, which comes in two parts, into my bag. It'll be useful later. "Done?" Stefan asks as I finish my drink. I nod, he pays and we leave, making our way back to school. On the way back, I asked what'd been playing on my mind all day, "Stefan, why are you doing this?" He looks at me, "Doing what?". "This? Being nice to me, waiting for me after class. I mean, you barely even know me. For all you know, I could be a witch with like I don't know, red energy power and the ability to mind control others."
Stefan laughs, "I'M BEING SO FR RIGHT NOW." I jokingly say to him. "Well, a witch and mind control is nothing I'm not used to, but red energy powers, God Y/N you're creative."
Nothing he's not used to? I think he notices me dwelling on it because he follows though with, "I'm joking Y/N, of course I'm not used to that stuff. All that supernatural stuff probably doesn't exist right?"
I look at him and don't say anything. I cant put a pin on whether he was being serious or not. "But seriously, why did you come to me, and you even gave me your jacket, to a random stranger," I add.
We arrive at school and start walking inside, "Y/N, the moment I saw you, I knew you were different. I know it's too soon to be talking but you seemed like a pretty and nice girl, and here we are, you are a pretty and nice girl." He pauses, "And the jacket, you're right I did give it to a stranger, but I don't know, I feel like I've known you for a while. You have a warming presence and maybe even a healing aura? I'm just rambling but you get the point."
Before I could even say anything, we were outside my class and Stefan says, "I'll see you tomorrow?" And then walks off.
I'm sorry but did he say he basically likes me? Because he just implied it. My thoughts race as I enter my next class.
The only thing I can focus on is him. He's practically engulfed my mind?
The second thing I can't wait for, other than seeing Stefan tomorrow, is this boring lesson ending.
