Chapter 2

00:13, 2 August 2025

Everywhere I look, there are groups of people huddled around one another. Its early September, the weathers cold and I already feel out of place. The wind nips at my ears, and it's at this moment I regret not wearing something warmer. Goosebumps arise on my arms, and soon enough on my neck when the breath of an unknown person hits my neck.

I swiftly look behind me only to be met by the most gorgeous green eyes I've ever seen. "Sorry, didn't mean to startle you." The stranger chuckles. I make a face at him, almost a dirty. "Okay..." I say, but it comes out as a whisper, making me feel somewhat embarrassed. I look into his perfect eyes and begin to walk away.

"Hey, wait!" He calls out. I don't even bother looking back. "I didn't formally introduce myself. I'm Stefan. Stefan Salvatore." He smiles. Stefan Salvatore, what a pretty name.

"You have a pretty name." I say, looking him up and down and returning the smile. "Well you have a pretty face." He hits back with. I giggle. "I'm Y/N." I say as we walk towards the school doors. If anything, I'm actually not mad that a strangers talking to me, because without Mr pretty over here, I'd have no idea where to go.

"Y/N," He repeats. "Is there something wrong with that?" I question. "Oh, no, no. Its unique." He replies. I smirk, "I must say, I do have a thing for being different to others, hence my style in clothing, my humour, my interests. The list goes on."

We both giggle, "You give me confident, but not over confident vibes. Maybe you are different, a good different" Stefan laughs, quickly adding on the last part just incase I was to get defensive. Well get to know me Stef, I'm THE most overconfident person you'll know. Nobody loves Y/N like Y/N does.

Stefan holds the door open for me and we enter the school. I take a moment to look around me, at my surroundings, at the people and the place itself. It sure is different from back home. "Admiring huh." Stefan says. I side eye him, "Admiring isn't the word. Taking it all in is." He nods.

We start walking again, "It's just so different from back home, like all of it. The people, the classes and even the lockers. There's colour here but there, it was all dull and grey and miserable." Stefan looks at me, "You're not from here?" I shake my head.

"I'm from England, I won't go into the specifics but it's so much better here. Maybe not the house though." I whisper the last part, hoping he doesn't hear me. "What was the last part. Sorry I misheard." He says. I brush it off, and we walk upstairs. "Am I just walking aimlessly, I'm going to be late." I say, realising it was nearly time for lessons to begin.

Stefan takes out a sheet of paper. I look, intrigued. "Timetable?" He asks. I reach into my little side bag and take out a scrunched piece of paper. He laughs. What's so fucking amusing about a teenage girl being poor after fucking being abandoned? I give him a big dirty, "What?"

"You came to school, with only that?" He points, "Do you even have a pen?" He giggles. Well shit, I don't. "Yeah actually, I do." I lie, flipping my hair to the side. Who am I if not sassy. I open the timetable and see my first lesson, sociology. "Stefan you don't happen to have sociology first lesson do you?" I ask. He tuts, "Uh no, biology." Great stuff.

"I can meet you after lesson though, for break or lunch if you want?" He asks me, I nod. "And, you're class is over there. On the left." I look over to where Stefan directed and see students begin to enter. "Okay thanks." I smile, beginning to make my way to the class.

"Oh and Y/N, here." Stefan says, grasping onto my arm. I look behind, only to see he's given me his jacket. I look at him, confused. He's cute and all but, I could never take his jacket, especially not in this weather. "Oh, Stefan no, I can't" I say. He shakes his head, "Y/N, look at what you're wearing, you're bound to freeze in  this weather. Take it." He says, passing me the jacket. "It'll benefit you more than it will me."

I look at him. I'm in two minds. Do I? Do I not?

"Y/N, I promise, take it. I'll be fine." He reassures. He looks behind him at the clock, "I need to go or I'll be late, but keep warm."

I watch as he walks away from me, glancing back one last time before becoming out of sight. I catch myself smiling at this cute gesture. As I put it on, a blonde girl walks past me, "Cute jacket!" She exclaims before walking off. I tilt my head, confused.

Anyhow, I began walking to my class, hesitating slightly at the door before walking inside.
