I'm awoken by the sound of my phone buzzing and vibrating. I groan as I flip to my right side to stop it, the constant sound of it ringing in my ears. I yawn as I check my messages, empty. Great.

It's 5am. I get up from the floor, putting my blanket over what should be a bed, but instead I've been living off minimal food and a worn out, battered mattress on the floor, which I'm pretty sure has insects hidden within them. Ew.

I brush my teeth in a dirty, rusty sink, and do my usual full face of makeup. Yeah I might be quite literally homeless, but, beauty comes first. Being a woman means coming with priorities, and the way I look is one of them. I take nearly two hours to get ready, constantly checking the time on my phone because today is the day I begin my new life, here, in Mystic Falls. I feel anxious, so many new and unfamiliar faces, and because I'm practically the bait, all eyes WILL be on me. I can't wait for this shit to end, it's not even started yet, but I can't wait for it to end.

As I finish my last makeup step, doing my lip combo, I move away from the crooked mirror and call out for my baby, Harry. "Harry where are you boy?" I shout. I'm beyond surprised that he moved with me. It wasn't easy brining him from England, but he's here. I can't imagine my life without him. I raised him when he was just a couple of weeks old and now he's 3 years old. He's been with me through a lot. In the distance, I hear a meow. I walk over to a corner to see him shivering on the floorboards. Oh baby, I put my jacket over him, ensuring he's warm. It isn't ideal for a cat to be living in these conditions, so I'm willing to sacrifice my own health for him. After all, he's just a baby.

I take a final look around the dirty shed I'm supposed to call home and make my way to school. I'm anxious to see what today brings, but I really can't deal with people. Honestly, I'd rather be living as a homeless girl than do this. I sigh, be positive, today could be the start of something new, give it a chance.

I roll my eyes at myself, my thoughts suddenly deciding they're optimists, and walk out of the forest, the leaves on the ground crunching under my feet.
