Chapter 23

23:22, 10 March 2018

I wake up to another sunny day. Today we are doing a couple of sporty activities and then there's the third day disco. I put on some leggings and an Adidas sports bra with a black velvet Adidas jacket and my black and white Adidas trainers. As you can see, I'm a big fan of Adidas. We all meet again and get divided into our groups. Our first activity is tennis. We head to the tennis court and do 4 vs 4, girls vs boys. The boys win because none of us really know how to play and they kept hitting the ball really hard so we couldn't manage to hit it back.

We then have a break and sit and talk and have a drink for 10 minutes. Then our next activity is running. Both Mackensie and I complain. Both of us agree that we shouldn't have to do it if we don't want to, and after a lot of arguing, Kayleigh lets us sit and watch the others run around a track for an hour. Both of us just sit and sunbathe and talk about relationships. Even though I didn't like Mackensie at first, I can relate to her a lot and she's actually really nice when you get to know her. Max stops running for five minutes and joins us to wind us up at how stubborn and lazy we are. He keeps  prodding me so I nimbly kick his face.

"Owww!" He says pretending he's really hurt, but then laughs and runs off to join the others again.

"You've really got some lad!" Says Mackensie admiringly. I feel slightly uncomfortable about this because she seems to be staring a bit too much at Max when she should be looking at her own boyfriend. Maybe it's me over reacting and being an over protective girlfriend but it still annoys me. Luckily, she quickly changes the subject and starts talking about what she's wearing at the party.

Time skip to party We had a pot noodle for tea because there'll be a buffet at the party. I put on some light makeup, fill my eyebrows in and put on a khaki jumpsuit with gold zips and have matching khaki sandals with gold zips. I put my hair into Dutch braids and go to meet Max. We head towards the party where we can hear the music blasting loudly.

The party goes by quickly. We dance to most songs and the buffet food is really nice. I have the best time. I dance to the last song with Harvey and Libby. When the party is over, we meet up with Hannah, Luke and Charlie. That's when I notice that Mackensie and Max are not anywhere to be seen.

I suppose I sort of knew already then. I started thinking maybe that's what happened but I tried to shut it out of my mind because I didn't think it was true. Deep down, I knew what was to come.

We went outside to see if they were there. Everyone was making their way back to their tents, some singing the songs that had gotten stuck in their heads from the party. There was no sign of Max or Mackensie. That's when I started to shake. Harvey took hold of my arm and told me not to worry.

We went looking in the tents but they weren't there either. Then we asked people if they'd seen them. Some girl said she'd seen them both head off into the woods. I shook my head of any thought and proceeded to follow Harvey towards the entrance for the woods. After two minutes of walking, we heard voices. We quietly made our way towards them. Harvey was the first to see. He looked horrified for a minute, then tried to cover my eyes. But curiosity had gotten the better of me. For a split second before everything went black, I saw it...

Max and Mackensie were kissing. I heard a loud scream and it wasn't until later that I realised it was mine. I heard frantic footsteps rushing towards us, and there he was right in my view. I slapped him. I did the same to Mackensie. Both didn't do anything. They were too shocked. Max was repeatedly trying to explain himself but I wasn't listening. I couldn't hear anything other than the pounding of my own heart. Then I heard Charlie shouting. I saw him punch Max, then I saw Max punch back. I sort of stumbled in between them to try and stop anything else from happening, but Max frantically shoved me away so I didn't get hurt. Except there was no point because I already was. And the shove made me fall to the ground. I heard a crack and a pain shot up my leg. I heard a screaming again. Except this time it wasn't shock, it was pain. Then everything went black for real. I had fainted.
