Chapter 24

I woke up in a hospital. Harvey was there, and so was Hannah. But there was no sign of Max. Camp councillor Jordan was also there. She smiled at me when she saw I was awake.

"Just in time. The nurse wants to know what colour plaster you want!"

Plaster? I look at her in confusion. Then everything comes rushing back and the pain shoots up my leg again.

"You've broken it Jess, but don't worry. You'll be out of it in 6 weeks!" Hannah says.

"Ugh. Pink please." I say. The nurse walks out and Harvey and Hannah rush up to me.

"Oh Jess, thank god you're ok. I was so worried when you fainted. It's all Max's fault. He was crying when you were on the floor. He thought you were dead. He wanted to come but I told him he's the last person you'd want to see when you woke up." All of a sudden, Harvey starts crying."Please forgive him Jess. Or at least hear him out!"

Time skip to after the plaster was put onMy mum arrived after my plaster was on. She relaxed when she saw the most damage I had done was break my leg. I decided to listen to Harvey and hear him out, so I didn't tell her what happened. Harvey just said there was a disagreement between max and another boy and I got in the way. She tutted and started going on about fighting. Me and Harvey just laughed. Then mum drove us home. I sat and watched a film with Harvey and then he slept in our living room because it was so late.

Three days later, there was a knock at the door and it was Max. He looked extremely nervous when Holly opened the door and he saw me stood with my crutches. I led him up to my room and closed the door so nobody could hear us.

"I'm sorry. There's not even any way possible to get into words and express my guilt and how sorry I am."

I had to give it to him. He looked like he'd had no sleep in ages and that he'd been crying. "The last three days were awful. I was practically alone and couldn't stop thinking about you. I don't blame me if you don't take me back but I wanted you to know that I don't love Mackensie, I love you. I kissed her mistakenly, I was caught up in the moment, I didn't know what I was doing or what consequences it would cause and..."

To shut him up, I smashed my lips into his. His eyes widened and he smiled when I pulled away."I forgive you. We've been dating too long to let it go because of her. But if your lips touch anyone else's except mine ever again, I will kill you!" I said.

Mum suddenly opened the door."Jess, no closing the door when boys are on your room!"Max went bright red."I.. mum, listen to what you're saying. I'm 13 and, wait how is that even possible? I've got a cast on!" All three of us started laughing. It feels so much better to be stress free and be able to laugh. I have to admit, all I had on my mind was Max.
