"what if she has buck teeth?" jiwon asked hayeon through the phone, anxiety clear in her voice.

"she doesn't have buck teeth," hayeon reassured her friend.

"what if she chews with her mouth open?" jiwon continued with her questions despite hayeon pleading for her to stop.

"jiwon," hayeon stopped the girl. "i set you up on this blind date, can't you just trust me?"

"but what if-"

"jiwon," hayeon groaned, "i'm going to kill you."

"okay, okay, i'll stop," jiwon backed down. "i'm just excited!"

"this is you excited?" hayeon asked in disbelief. you'd never be able to tell through the questions she was asking.

"i haven't been on a date in months," jiwon explained, "it's killing me hanging out with you and sohee. all you guys do is talk about sunghoon and jay."

"that is not true!" hayeon protested, but deep down she knew she was probably right.

she could hear jiwon scoff even from over the phone. "be so serious."

"okay maybe it's a little true..." hayeon admitted. but she couldn't help herself, every day she spent with sunghoon was better than the one before.

"don't get me wrong i much prefer this than when you were both miserable over each other," jiwon laughed.

hayeon grimaced. "it's been months and yet you still bring that up."

"okay, so back to my date," jiwon continued her rambling, going back to her theories on what could possibly go wrong.

"hayeon?" the girl heard jiwon say through her muffled phone speaker. she must have finally stopped coming up with new situations of what could possibly cause her date to go wrong.

"i'm here," hayeon replied, "how far away from the restaurant are you?"

"i think just a couple blocks," jiwon answered, anxiety clear in her voice. "i'm scared."

"you're going to be fine," hayeon reassured her, "i promise. it's literally impossible for anyone to dislike you, and i have a feeling you're really going to like her."

hearing jiwon let out a deep breath over the phone, hayeon sighed. she knew it was just pre date jitters, but she still wished she could still be there to comfort her friend.

"okay, i'm here," jiwon finally said after collecting herself.

"you've got this!" hayeon cheered, trying her best to pump jiwon up with compliments and confidence. "you're hot as fuck and one of the best people i know, you have nothing to worry about."

"okay...." the other girl reluctantly accepted the praise. "i have to go now, wish me luck!"

"you don't need luck!" hayeon shouted into her phone's speaker with enthusiasm, hearing the call end right after.

she put her phone down and sat down on her bed, waiting for something to happen. hayeon didn't have much going on that day, but she knew that jiwon would freak out after her date. that was enough entertainment for her.

opening up one of the books on her beside table, she tried her hardest to distract herself as she waited for news from jiwon. her brain could barely even concentrate on what she was reading, but she skimmed the pages of her book out of boredom.

she had gotten through almost half of the chapters when she stopped to check the time on her phone. it had already been almost two hours. how long was this date going to take?

she was about to text jiwon first herself, just to make sure she was still breathing. but then, finally, her phone buzzed.

i posted this book on a whim just having an idea i wanted to execute and not thinking a single person would read it, and now here we are at almost 200k reads. it's actually insane.
