"where the hell is it?" hayeon huffed in frustration, violently searching through her purse.

"hayeon, breathe," sunghoon placed his hand on her arm, trying to calm her down.

she looked up at him with a pout, her eyes glossed over from the alcohol. "i just want my bed."

sunghoon chuckled at the look on her face. "then let's get you to your bed."

knowing hayeon wasn't going to be able to stand very soon, sunghoon abandoned her mission to find her key and knocked a few times on the door instead. he hoped either jiwon or sohee was awake to answer.

a few moments went by, the two standing in comfortable silence while they waited for someone to answer the door.

"hello?" sohee cracked open the door, cautious of who was outside. at the sight of sunghoon and her very clearly wasted best friend, she opened the door fully.

"couldn't find her key," sunghoon explained, using a minimal amount of words as he was helping hayeon inside the apartment at the same time.

slurring her words together slightly, hayeon tried to defend herself. "i swear i have it... trust me you guys."

"i'm sure you do babe," sohee giggled at hayeon, then looking to sunghoon. "i can take her off of your hands, thank you for bringing her home."

"oh no!" sunghoon shook his head, "go back to sleep, please. i've got it."

"are you sure?" sohee double checked, making sure he knew what he was getting himself into.

"i'm fineeeee," hayeon said before sunghoon could respond, clearly not fine.

chuckling at the girl who was clinging onto his arm to even stand, sunghoon nodded at sohee. "i've got this."

thanking him, sohee gladly accepted his offer and quickly returned to her room to go back to bed. ordinarily, she wouldn't leave a drunk hayeon with any man. but sunghoon wasn't just any man.

she trusted him with her, which was rare for sohee. she was very protective over her loved ones, but it was clear sunghoon cared for the girl. sohee knew he would always look out for hayeon's best interest, and she appreciated how considerate he was of her own time as well.

he was a good guy, and good guys were rare to come by. if only him and hayeon would just cut the bullshit and date, she thought. but she knew them better than that.

"hoon," hayeon smiled up at the boy, still holding onto his arm.

"yes hayeon?" he returned her smile, his eyes softening even more at the sight of her.

"thank you," she said, leaning into sunghoon's body.

sunghoon furrowed his brows, confused. "for what?"

"everything," hayeon replied, staring off into space. she couldn't fully register her surroundings, but she knew she was with sunghoon, and she knew she was safe with him.

"of course-" sunghoon began to respond, cut off by the sound of hayeon gagging.

panicked, sunghoon crouched down to her level, inspecting her face. "hayeon, are you okay!?"

despite looking very sick, she gave him and quick nod. it could have been believable if she hadn't gagged again right afterwards, holding her hand over her mouth to stop herself from puking all over the place.

"let's get you to the bathroom," sunghoon guided the girl away from the kitchen, realizing she was about to throw up.

he found his way to her bathroom, opening the door for her and helping her onto the floor near her toilet. immediately once her knees had hit the floor, hayeon vomited out what seemed like half of her body weight.

as gently as he possibly could, sunghoon grabbed the pieces of her hair that were falling in front of her face and wrapped them back behind her head. she was already throwing up, he didn't want her to have puke all over her hair to top it off.

the boy had one hand holding onto a makeshift ponytail of her hair and the other placed on her back, trying to soothe her by rubbing back and forth.

they spent awhile sitting like that, but sunghoon didn't mind. he knew this happened to pretty much everyone at some point, and he just wanted to make sure that she was okay.

when she had finally stopped, hayeon rested her head on the toilet seat, ready to fall asleep.

"hayeon," sunghoon chuckled as he tried to get her up, "you can't sleep here."

"yes i can, it's my house," she argued back, still stubborn as ever. even when drunk out of her mind and half asleep she kept it up, it was almost impressive.

knowing he wasn't going to win any verbal battle with her, sunghoon just shrugged and bent down to her level. before hayeon even had a chance to process what was happening, he had picked her up bridal style and was carrying her to her room.

carefully, sunghoon placed hayeon down on her bed and tucked her under the covers. he made sure to be gentle with his movements, knowing she probably still felt nauseous.

he waited for awhile, and when he thought she was finally alseep sunghoon turned to leave. instead, he felt a hand reaching out for his arm and pulling him down onto her bed.

"hayeon?" sunghoon had no idea what had just happened. he had sworn she was fast asleep seconds ago.

"please don't leave me," the girl mumbled out, sounding a bit sad.

sunghoon's heart broke at the vulnerability in her voice. he remembered how much she disliked being alone, which must have extended to sleeping alone for her too.

deciding to stay, he repositioned himself to actually fit on her bed. he had been practically on top of her when she had first dragged him down to her bed. when he was finally still, hayeon moved in to place her head on his chest in search for some form of contact.

sunghoon tried his very hardest not to panic, instead sitting as still as humanly possible. he was completely caught off guard by hayeon's actions, but he figured the alcohol flowing through her body explained her behavior.

after calming himself down internally, sunghoon moved carefully and slowly until his arm was around hayeon. she had been sleeping peacefully for awhile now, using his chest as her own pillow.

sunghoon watched her soft breaths moving in and out, admiring how beautiful the girl sleeping on him was. he quietly studied every inch of her face, in awe of how all of her features seemed to be perfection.

letting out a deep sigh, sunghoon realized how deep his feelings really were for this girl. here he was mesmerized just by the sight of her, willing to do anything for her.

"hayeon," he whispered, checking if she was awake and if she could hear him. when he got nothing in response, sunghoon continued in a soft and quiet tone. "i know you won't actually hear any of this, but i just need to say it."

"i think you're one of the most incredible people i've ever met. every moment i spend with you makes me feel like i'm the luckiest person in the world. your presence fills every room you're in with joy and love. you make others feel so loved."

"i wish i was able to tell you how i feel. to tell you that my heart never stops racing whenever you come close to me. to tell you how often i stare at you when you aren't looking. to tell you how many times i've dreamed of kissing you, of being with you."

he paused for a moment, feeling overwhelmed by his emotions. it hurt him to know that this was the only way he could ever tell her his true feelings. but he knew he would never have the strength to do it while she was awake.

"anyways, i just hope that you know how incredible you are. you deserve all of the best things in life. and even if we aren't together in that way, i'll still do my best to give them all to you."

he placed a light kiss on her forehead, caught up in his feelings. "thank you for being in my life, truly."

"i don't think i'll ever meet anyone like you in this lifetime or the next. you make me forget all of the bad things in this world, you're the brightest light in my life right now. and i'm seriously so grateful to you for that."

choking on his words, sunghoon held back the three he was about to say.

it was too much, he didn't want to have to admit to himself how deep he had fallen for hayeon. he felt it in every bone in his body, but he didn't want to accept the truth.

he couldn't tell her he loved her, not like this.
