twenty nine

hayeon woke up to the smell of food filling the air and laughter coming from the kitchen, immediately putting her in a good mood. she may have gotten 3 hours of sleep after staying up all night stressing out, but today was a new day.

opening her door, she saw jay hard at work cooking something on the stove while sohee sat next to him at the kitchen island, laughing over something he had said. not wanting to third wheel between two people who clearly had something going on, hayeon quietly retreated back to her room only to be met by jake right in her face as she turned around.

"jake!" she yelped, "what the fuck?"

laughing at her surprised reaction, jake made no apology for his small prank and instead changed the topic. "why'd you come back in?"

"the lovebirds are in the kitchen together," hayeon explained, grabbing her brush off the night stand and running it through her hair. she might as well start getting ready for the day if she couldn't go eat breakfast.

"jay and sohee?" jake asked, getting a nod of confirmation back from hayeon. "god, he's just got to ask her out already."

"wait, so he really does like her?" hayeon perked up, excited for her friend.

"you can't tell anyone i told you that!" jake shushed the girl in a panic as he realized what he had said. "but yeah, he's literally always talking about her. reminds me of how sunghoon used to be about you."

"what." hayeon stopped jake, immediately growing serious.

"oh my god someone's going to kill me if i don't shut up," jake cursed himself, letting two secrets slip in less than minute.

"sim jaeyun i will shove this hair brush in your eye if you don't tell me what you just meant by that."

"i'm innocent!" he screamed in response, sprinting out of their door only to be greeted by sunghoon right in front of him as he came out.

looking puzzled, sunghoon glanced between his panicked best friend and hayeon standing behind him with a violent grip on her hair brush, not getting any answers from visual clues.

"what's going on?" he finally asked, but he got no response as hayeon took jake's pause in front of sunghoon as a chance to lunge at him.

jake screamed and sprinted forward, causing the girl to end up chasing him through the entire house, waking everyone else up in the process.
