hayeon sat upright on her bed, scrolling through her instagram and laughing at her friends' replies. somehow there always seemed to be something happening in her comment section.

after seeing sunghoon's reply about her vomiting, however, she began thinking back to the night before. realization hit her that she had big gaps in her memory of how she got from the bar to her bed in one piece.

hayeon sighed, annoyed at her brain for not working properly, although that was mostly her own fault. she hopped off her bed and walked into the kitchen of her apartment, coming to an abrupt stop when she saw a note sitting on the counter.

left aspirin by your bed, hope you sleep well pretty girl, the note read, in handwriting that she knew very well did not belong to either of her roommates.

did sunghoon take her home? she had assumed he had just dropped her off, but had he gone all the way up to her room with her?

now that she was thinking about it, she had no idea how the aspirin she took that morning appeared on her nightstand. she was just so hungover she didn't even question it at the time.

the girl used all the effort she had to try and conjure up a memory of the night before, but all her brain could focus on was his note, more specifically the fact that he called her pretty girl.

hayeon knew he was just as drunk as she was last night, although she apparently seemed to surpass him by the end. therefore, she wondered if that was why he was so boldly flirting with her in the note. he had done so multiple times during their night out, which she just kept blaming on the alcohol, but something about this in particular she could not get over.

groaning out loud in annoyance, hayeon threw herself onto their living room couch and shoved her face into a pillow, screaming into it.

"oh my god who is dying right now?" she heard sohee say as she stepped out of her room and sat down to join hayeon.

"me," hayeon replied. "no forget that, i'm not even dying. i'm just already dead."

"you are so dramatic," sohee playfully teased her friend, grabbing the pillow from off her face and forcing hayeon to look back at her. "what's going on?"

"guess," was all hayeon said in response, sick of her brain constantly being stuck on this one boy.

"what'd he do now?" sohee asked, ready to hear yet another sunghoon rant. it was obvious to her and everyone else around hayeon and sunghoon that they had feelings for each other. not only did they talk to each other every single day, but when they weren't talking to each other they were talking to the rest of their friends about the other.

somehow though, neither of the two seemed to realize that they liked each other back. sohee felt like she was back in middle school seeing the way both of them refused to communicate their real feelings for each other.

"okay so you know how he's always flirting with me as a joke?" hayeon started.

"not a joke," sohee interrupted, earning a glare in her direction from an already annoyed hayeon.

"whatever," she ignored her friend, continuing with her thoughts. "well it somehow got worse while he was drunk. and i don't remember half of last night so i have no idea what i said to him in response to all that or how i even got back here and now i want to kill myself."

"okay first step put the suicide plan down," sohee responded, "and he was here last night. he brought you home."

"he was here!?" hayeon shot up straight, freaking out a bit as her guesses were confirmed. "as in inside of our apartment?"

"he took care of you," sohee said, shrugging like it was nothing.

"what the fuck do you mean took care of me," the still very hungover girl demanded information, feeling like she was seconds away from passing out.

"by the time you guys got here you were pretty wasted, so after like 7 failed attempts to find your key he knocked on the door and i let you guys in."

"i was going to take you off his hands and let him go, but he told me he'd take care of it and to go back to bed. it was cute, i'm pretty sure he held your hair back as you threw up."

"oh wow that's peak romance right there," hayeon rolled her eyes.

"it is!" sohee insisted.

"he saw me puking my guts out sohee, i don't think that's something most people would necessarily find attractive."

sohee sighed, knowing she was about to start back up a battle she would lose every time. "that boy is madly in love with you, don't even."

as sohee had expected, hayeon grabbed whatever was closest to the two and lightly hit sohee on the arm with it, earning a squeak from sohee's mouth.

"ow!" she exclaimed. why did their remote of all things have to be the closet object in their proximity.

"sohee you can't keep saying that! we're literally just friends he doesn't see me like that."

"okay ok i'm sorry," sohee backed down, rubbing her sore arm that hayeon had hit. "i won't bring it up again, but just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't true."

"it's not," hayeon decided. she wasn't about to ruin what she had with sunghoon just because she got caught up in her feelings for him. it would never end well for them.
