Chapter 18

Drake woke up with Nicki still knocked out in his arms. He chuckled to himself as he realised that they were both still completely naked under the sheets. He slowly detached himself from her, making sure not to wake her before making his way to get dressed. He remained topless but put on some boxers and grey sweats before he went downstairs to start on their breakfast.

He was just dishing out their food when he heard the door open and the voices of two females fill the house.

Sandi: Aubrey

Drake: The Kitchen

Sandi made her way into the kitchen to where she found drake finishing up on breakfast.

Drake: Morning mother dearest

Sandi: I see you kept my house in good condition

Drake: indeed we did. I made sure to clean everything up before I went to sleep last night

Sandi: Good choice

He heard carol greet him from the other room and he happily returned the greeting.

Sandi: So where's Nicki

Drake: I'm assuming she's still asleep

Sandi: okay...

She side-eyed him slightly.

Drake: What ?

Sandi: I was your age once, me and carol already know the things you two get upto when your alone

He smirked at her before giving.

Drake: Well last night was only the 4th time so its not that bad really

She shook her head.

Drake: well if you don'tmind, my sleeping beauty awaits her prince charming

He winked before picking up their plates and heading up the stairs where he found nicki still sound asleep. He put the plates on the bedside table before he made his way onto the bed and hovered over her. He leaned down and placed soft kisses on her face causing her eyes to flutter open. 

Drake: Morning baby

A few days later...

Nicki: Where are you taking me brey

Drake: well the car is staying here so if you come and walk with me i'll show you 

He got out of the car, before walking to her side and opening the door for her to also get out and join him. He took her hand in his and they walked through a park into what seemed like a forest. The place became more and more familiar as they walked further in. They walked for about 5 minutes before they reached a place that nicki knew all to well.

Drake: still remember this place

Nicki: yeah

She chuckled a little at thefact that he still knew exactly where it was.

Nicki: how could i forget.

it was the den they had made when they were about 10 years old and it used to be where they would spend most of their free time. It was like a secret place that know onebut the two of them knew about, and its where their friendship had mostly developped through the years. The last time they had come there was when they were about 15, but nevertheless all their memories still remained with them.

Drake took a seat and Nicki took one beside him before laying her head in his lap. He ran his fingers through her hair as she just looked up at him. It was as though the world stopped for those 5 seconds that they got lost in each others gaze. There was now not a single detail of nicki tht drake hadnt memorised. In the past 9 years that they had been friends, he had taken the time to get to know her and study her as a person and now he could tell you anything and everythingabout her.

Drake: remember the day we kissed when we were here

Nicki: that was such an awkward moment, but its weird how it didnt seem that way

Drake: i guess we just knew there was something there

Nicki: i guess we did.how old were we again, I can't even remember

Drake: 14 or 15, i think. 

They both laughed. He leaned down and let his lips attach to hers and she just smiled back at him.

Drake: well at least now its no longer awkward

He leaned down and kissed her again, as she returned the kiss. They pulled away and he just let his hand interlock with hers. He didnt know what it was, but something about today was telling him that he wanted to spend as long as he could with her. They spent another 30 minutes in their den before he continued to take her around the city reminiscing on there memories; some from years ago,others as close as a few months.

They were now stood by the shore looking out at all the waves. Nicki had her against drakes shoulder as her hand stayed interlocked with his. Today had been a perfect day for nicki, one that she just managed to spend the whole day with someone she loved, and nothing made itbetter than the fact she knew she would leave the world with all the memories she did have.

Nicki: I love you brey

Drake: I love you too nic

He placed a kiss on her forehead before tightening the grip on her hand as she did the same.

Drake: come on. one last thing for the night

She walked with him and not too long later she saw a group of people that she couldspot anyday. She chuckled as the guys jumped around trying to get her and drakes attention.

Drake: Still remember the first time you hung out with this lot 

Nicki: how could i forget

They all cheered as her and drake got closer to them and joined the circle around the campfire. She stayed hand in hand with drake and let her head remain rested on his shoulder as they sat with everyone else.

Courtne: Aww look at you

They both smiled as everyone else showered them with complients about how cute they looked. It wasnt long before everyone engaged in conversation, But there had to be that one moment of silence that would need to be broken.

Nicki: guys

They all looked at her.

Nicki: as much as you all dont want to discuss it,we all know its gonna happen, but the one thig i want is for you guys to be happy. i know i can't be garunteed this once im gone,but i want you all to be happy without me. if you didnt know it already i prefer to see you all smiling and laughing rather than sitting all depressed and crying about me. For my memorial, i want you toall sit around a campfire just like we're doing right now,and i want you all to laugh. laugh and smile about the times we had together. Dont cry because it's over, smile because it happened guys... can you promise me that 

They all looked around at each other before smiling through the tears that were threatening to leave their eyes.

Noah: i think we could do that 

She smiled at them and it wasnt long before the jokes and banter began again.

They had been hanging out for almost 2 hours now and nicki was starting to feel as though something was gonna happen. She wasnt feeling like she had done throughout the course of the day and already she could see where this was leading. she lightly squeezed drakes hand, but before he had a chance to process it all she fell into his lap. Already sensing she was unconcious he took off his jacket and placed it on the sand while abel held her up before they laid her onto it. He put her in the recovery position and just sat by her keeping an eye on the time.

Nicole: she was fine just minutes ago

Drake: but thats how its is, she's fine one minute then the next she's gone

Drake became uneasy as he checked his watch again. She had been out for almost 5 minutes which was far longer than she would normally be gone for and he knew soon he'd have to call an ambulance. They were all silent as they watched, hoping for her to wake up. Drake checked hi watch again and this time he got his phone out an called for an ambulance,of which everyone was sayong he shouldn't but he knew he didnt have a choice

Receiver: Okay, so how long as she beenout for now

Drake: About 7 minutes

Receiver: did she have any medical issues at all

Drake: She's battling lukaemia

Reciever: Cani have her name please

Drake: Onika Maraj

Receiver: And you're still getting nothing from her, can you feel her pulse for me 

Drake passed the phone to abel to hold while he went and checked her pulse.

Drake: Its very weak,

Receiver: Okay,can you make sure she stays warm for me and check her pulse every so often to make sure she's still got one, the ambulance will be there in a couple of minutes and if you losse her pulse call back immediately

Drake: Okay

He hung up, but by this point is hands were shaking, he knew he had to call carol,but he physically couldnt. he couldnt find the stregnth.

Drake: Nicki baby,its time to wake up now. come on, you can do it

Noah: Drake she's gonna be okay

Drake: someone call her mother please

They passed it on to ashey as they alreay knew he wouldnt be able to do it right now.

Drake: Nicki, Please. It's time to wake up now, come on nic

They could hear him siffling already and they knew it wouldnt be long before the tears would follow.

Courtne: Come on drake, you can be strong for her and you know it 

Ryan: she'll be fine 

They were just as worried as he was, even though they tried to reassure themselves

Drake: Nicki, For me please, come on 

They could hear his voice breaking and the tears were already making their way down his face.

Drake: Nic, Come on nic,

So far none of them apart from ashley had seen him cry over nicki before and they had to admit that it was quite a painful sight to see; especially if there was nothing you could do about it.

Drake: Come on nic, this can't be the end nic, you can do it and i know you can. At least say a proper goodbye to you mother...
