Never Alone, Alana

She walked away. Once she thought I had stopped looking at her, she jogged towards Legolas. She leaned on his shoulder and wrapped her arm around his waist. He held his hands above his head for a few seconds unsure of what to do. He put his arm around her shoulders and the other arm holding her hand, which was on his waist.

The pit in my stomach dropped even more when I realized he was doing all those comforting things to her. I wanted to kick myself. 

He was being a better friend than I was and he hardly knew her. I thought she would have more sense than to trust a stranger. We have been traveling for a week now, and they have been inseparable. It’s unbearable. 

I watched as Legolas leaned closer to her to tell her something. My stomach clenched. There was no way I was going to let my little Alana get hurt. She deserved happiness. But I already had hurt her I realized.

I looked back at them together. She laughed at something Legolas had said. He lifted his hand up to her face. But I couldn’t tell what she did. 

She couldn’t understand why I was mad. She was reckless and with no experience. I mean she has been in battle before. But only the one’s we were sure to win. She didn’t think on the field and risked her life way too many times. 

I just didn’t want her to be hurt. Her fighting skills were capricious and she had no style. I just… If I was in the fellowship, my ultimate goal was protecting Frodo and now I had to protect her? I mean I was good in battle but I couldn’t fight and protect two people. 

She just didn’t think that her actions would affect others. But they do. No one lives in a vacuum.

I kicked up the stones that in my way, mad at myself that I had been mad at her. I was still mad though. 

She just couldn’t see how many people cared for her. 

She has never and will never be alone.
