Chapter 97
18:40, 20 April 2014Me and Eleanor have been trying to practice our tricks for about 3 hours now. I’m getting there but I’m still either not spinning in the air or not landing correctly. It’s pretty hard but I just need to speed up when I’m going up and down the slopes, before I do my trick. The feeling is thrilling when you’re going up and down the halfpipe and it feels like you’re going so fast which scares me slightly. I feel like if you feel like you can’t do the trick while you’re just about to perform it, it’s never going to work so you’ve just got to believe in yourself really...
Now that me and El have done 3 hours, we sit at the top of the halfpipe and watch the boys practice for theirs. I need to tell Eleanor about Jack’s feelings towards her.
“So how did it go with Brad?” I smirk, nudging her slightly.
“It was alright. He’s not what I expected” she shrugs.
“You’re so picky” I roll my eyes and she just laughs. “What happened?”
“Well we went to the café and just talked about snowboarding and stuff. I felt like I was doing all the talking though, you know?”
“Yeah” I frown. “Are you going to see him again?”
“We haven’t planned anything but I’d doubt it. If I see him around, I’ll say hi but I’m not really into him” she laughs and I just smile. We watch as Jack manages to do a spin in the air. “Woo!” Eleanor cheers, clapping for him.
AW!
“How do you feel about Jack?” I smirk and she snaps her head towards me.
“For the last time, nothing is going on between us” she assures me.
“No but how do you feel about him?”
“I don’t know” she sighs. “He’s nice, has good hair, good teeth” she lists and I start laughing.
“I mean, how do you feel about him?” I ask her and she turns her attention back to Jack snowboarding.
“I honestly don’t know, Lucy” she sighs and smiles slightly when she see’s Jack laughing with Conor.
“Come on, let’s have a heart to heart like we did in the olden days” I smile.
“Right, I don’t know if I like him or not. He’s like really nice and shit hot and stuff but I live in Cheshire. It could never work. And I’m in year eleven so I have my final exams coming up and shit. If anything does happen between us, I wouldn’t even have time for it. I don't know if we'd just be better friends” she shrugs and makes a small ball with the snow we’re sat on.
“Eleanor, you’re always welcome at my house and you’re always round here anyway. You can come on weekends and stuff and when you’re not here, you can video chat and call him and text him” I list her options.
“Yeah but on our way here, you said that long distance relationships never work. It just made me think” she sighs.
“You’ve known me since I can remember. I thought you’d know better than to listen to me, El” I shake my head and she laughs dryly.
“It wouldn’t work” she shakes her head. “Besides, he doesn’t like me. It would just complicate things”
She continues to watch him snowboard up and down the half pipe, getting better at his techniques each time. She starts laughing when he falls over, receiving a middle finger from him.
“You better not tell him about this” she gasps, pointing her finger at me.
“I won’t, calm down” I raise my hands up in defence. “But do what makes you happy. Don’t let exams and a long distance get in the way. If you want it that bad, you’ll do anything to make it work”
“Thanks” she smiles. “What do you think I should do?”
“You need to talk to him about it” I nod.
“He’ll laugh in my face” she frowns.
“Will he fuck!” I laugh dryly. “He’d never do that, even if you were the most unattractive, disgusting person on the planet. You know what he’s like”
She laughs, “Yeah. Ok, I’ll talk to him”
“Yeah?”
“Yep” she nods, popping the ‘p’. “I’ll give you the signal and that’s when you need to take you and your precious little boyfriend elsewhere”
“Okay” I laugh. “What’s the signal?”
“I’ll flick my hair” she shrugs.
“No, you’ll look like a freak” I frown.
“I’ll just look at you. You’ll get the idea” she nods. “But don’t you think it’ll be weird because I used to have that thing with Alex”
“Well do you still like Alex?” I frown.
“No” she shakes her head confidently.
“Does he like you?”
“I don’t think so” she frowns. “We decided to just be friends”
“Well there’s nothing to worry about then”
“But Alex is like best friends with Jack” she panics.
“Eleanor, do what makes you happy. Don’t let the past hold you back” I laugh dryly. She shouldn’t have to worry about what’s happened in the past. If she likes Jack, she should feel confident enough to go for it. “But before you talk to Jack, I think you should figure out if you actually want this to happen. You seemed hesitant before so I want you to feel confident about this before anything happens”
“I know what you mean. I think I’m confident enough but I’ll have to think about it” she nods and I smile at her. “Speak of the devil” she huffs and I turn around to see Conor walking towards us. We weren’t even talking about Conor...
Oh, she’s just going to wind him up.
“What were you saying about me?” Conor frowns.
“Nothing” Eleanor smirks.
“Bitch” Conor mutters and sits down next to me.
“What’s up?” I smile at him.
“Just come to see what you’re up to. My session’s in about five minutes” he sighs.
“Aw. I’ll stay and watch you” I smile and he smirks. I look up at Eleanor who’s now stood up, smiling at Jack as he practices his trick. She cheers and claps for him whenever he gets it right and shouts supportive things at him.
“Did you tell her?” Conor mumbles.
“I didn’t say that he likes her but she told me that she likes him and she’s going to talk to him about it” I smirk.
“I don’t like the idea of her getting with my brother” he sighs and gives her a glare.
“Shut up, I know you love her really” I laugh dryly and he rolls his eyes.
Eleanor’s so close with Conor although they’ll never admit how much they like each other. I don’t know why... I love their relationship though. I’m glad she’s not too friendly with him because I know I’ll get jealous over the slightest thing, but knowing that they’ll never show that they like each other makes me feel comfortable with them being alone together. Not that I don’t trust them both. I know Conor would never cheat on me but just knowing that nothing will ever happen between them relaxes me loads.
And their arguments are well entertaining. I don’t even have to step in because I know they’re not taking things too seriously. Conor’s going to miss her like crazy when she goes back to Cheshire. I love being around them both and with Jack. I’m so grateful for this holiday. Nothing beats a holiday in the snow with 3 of your best friends.
I’m happy that my Dad trusts me out here as well. I would’ve thought he’d constantly be checking on me and Conor especially because we’re sharing a room but he trusts Conor enough to know that nothing serious is going to happen. I’m so glad that my Dad gets along with Conor too. I was so scared about telling him about this whole relationship but he’s taken it so well and trusts us both with it. Things would change in a second if he found out what happens in the bedroom but let’s not tell him that.
I know my Mum and Lauren know about what me and Conor do and I’m glad Mum doesn’t make a big deal about it. She really understands my relationship with Conor which is why she takes everything so well. When he cheated on me, when he used to make me cry, the whole thing with Ben... She understands it all and I’m so grateful for that. I know I can count on her for advice about anything.
“Conor, you’re up!” Lily shouts.
“Bye, babe” he kisses my cheek and walks away.
“Aw, you’re so cute” Eleanor coos.
“I never thought I’d see the day where you say something that me and Conor did was cute” I frown and she shrugs, smirking slightly.
“I don’t hate him” she laughs dryly.
“This is too much in one day” I hold my head, teasingly.
“Shut up” she laughs, pushing me slightly.
-
It’s 11pm and we’ve all just finished video chatting Mum and Lauren. Dad and Matt have gone to bed leaving Eleanor, Conor, Jack and I in the living room. We’re so tired tonight so we’ve just decided to chill in the living room for about half an hour and go straight to bed. We’ve been training practically all day and Dad and Matt have decided to watch us practice tomorrow for a short while.
“How are you doing on your trick then?” I ask Conor, snuggling closer to him on the sofa.
He sighs, “Yeah, pretty good. I reckon I’ll be able to do it by Friday but I’ll have to work all day on it”
“Good” I smile.
“How are you doing with your little spin?” he teases and I laugh slightly.
“Alright” I shrug. “It’s pretty hard”
“I already know how to do yours just by watching you train” he frowns and I roll my eyes.
I look over at Eleanor and Jack talking quietly to each other on the sofa. They’re definitely having ‘the chat’. I give Conor a surprised look and he just smirks down at me. They’re both sat with their legs crossed on the sofa, facing each other and Jack’s staring at Eleanor in shock.
I lie back down on the sofa and cuddle up to Conor so it doesn’t look like I’m listening to their conversation. Conor catches on and closes his eyes to make it look less obvious.
“I don’t understand” Jack mumbles.
“I know you’re both listening” Eleanor says to Conor and I.
“Okay, we’ll go” I smirk, rising from the sofa and pulling Conor up with me.
“That was entertaining for a second” Conor sighs. I laugh and pull him into the bedroom with me, leaving those two to talk.
