Chapter 96

“He what!?” Lucy gasps after telling her that Jack likes Eleanor. Everyone’s gone to bed now in their own rooms so me and Lucy are just staying up and talking for a while.

“Yeah, he told me before” I chuckle, pulling the covers over me as I get in bed. I sit and watch Lucy walk around the room getting ready to go to bed.

“I kind of saw it coming to be honest” she shrugs and I nod in agreement. “Well what do I have to do with this?”

“I said that you’d talk to Eleanor for him”

“Well what shall I say?” she frowns, pulling one of my t-shirts over her head and pulling her hair out of the whole.

“I have no idea” I shake my head.

“He’s timed this badly” she chuckles, joining me in bed.

“That’s what I said” I laugh along. I don’t understand why he didn’t say something about this before Eleanor went to talk to this guy.

“Maybe he didn’t know how he felt with her until now” she shrugs.

“You either like her or you don’t” I frown in confusion.

“Yeah but when I first met you, I thought you were shit hot but the biggest dickhead in the world. Look where we are now” she explains and I gasp.

“Gee, thanks” I huff and she giggles.

“I figured out my feelings for you though” she shrugs. “And now I can’t go a day without you”

“I have that effect on people” I smirk and she nudges me slightly, laughing.

“Well I’ll talk to Eleanor tomorrow” she smiles. It would be much easier if Jack just talked to Eleanor about this rather than Lucy having to do his dirty work.

“Anyway, let’s ‘chill’” I smirk, using air quotes.

“I said maybe!” she giggles as I pull her closer to me.

“Well you’ve got my hopes up now” I shrug, leaning closer to her until our lips are touching.

Lucy’s POV

After a couple hours of snowboarding, Eleanor went off to meet Brad and the rest of us decided to take a quick break in the café here. We have to meet Lily in about half an hour and she’ll be teaching us a few tricks. I’m pretty scared but so excited at the same time. Imagine being able to do a trick on a snowboard...

I’m a little panicked that we have to be able to do all this before the competition on Saturday which is 2 days away but I’m sure we can pull something together by then. Even if we don’t win this competition, it was still fun learning how to snowboard and stuff.

We have our hot drinks then take our boards back out to the ski slope where we always meet Lily. She waves us over to her and I smile before joining her at the bottom of the big slope.

“Hey, are you alright?” she greets us.

“Yeah, are you?” I reply for everyone.

“I’m great” she smiles. “So do you want to go straight onto tricks today or do you still want to snowboard down the hills?”

“Tricks!” Jack smiles widely.

Lily laughs, “Great. Well we’ll have to go to the halfpipe to practice. Come on!”

We get to this ‘halfpipe’ and it’s basically exactly what it sounds like. It’s half a pipe...

“So this is where the competition will be and you’ll basically just be snowboarding up and down it and doing a trick in the air. It sounds harder than it is, believe me” she assures us. “You’ve already done the hard bit which was getting your balance on those boards and stuff”

“Do we have to do a big trick?” I ask. I know that I’m not capable of doing some amazing trick.

“No not at all” she shakes her head. “Where’s Eleanor anyway?”

“She’s with this guy” I shrug. I feel awkward talking about this in front of Jack. If he likes Eleanor, he must hate the idea of her being with another guy.

“Is she!?” Lily gasps and I nod, laughing slightly.

“She’ll probably join us soon. She’s picky when it comes to guys” I roll my eyes and she laughs.

“Let’s go over to the entry ramp” she guides us over to the ramp that we’ll enter on. “Okay so I want you each to learn a different trick so from now on, we’ll probably be training separately. It’ll be easier if I have one on one sessions with you all but you can all watch if you like” she shrugs.

“Is no one else going to be using this?” Conor frowns.

“No. There’s another one in the main resort. People assume that this one’s just for the competition so it’s barely ever used” she explains. “If you want, I’ll show you one of the tricks and you can decide amongst yourself who wants to do it”

“Okay” I nod. Lily shows us four different tricks.

The first trick was where she just did a ‘High School Musical’ jump into the air off the halfpipe, held into the board and spun around once.

The second trick was basically doing the first except you have to spin around three times.

The third trick was where you have to do two flips in the air and finish with a spin, and the final trick was where you do two flips in the air, one side flip and finish with a spin.

“I’m not sure about the last one but if one of you is confident enough and you feel like you’ll put effort into learning it then I’m not stopping you. There just needs to be one trick that really wow’s the audience and the judges. That’s what gets you the money” Lily winks, making me laugh.

“I’m not doing it” I back away. I’d mess up big time.

“Do you want to?” Conor asks Jack.

“No, I’d fuck it up and break my back or something” Jack shakes his head.

“I’ll do it then” Conor shrugs.

“Are you sure? It’s pretty difficult” Lily frowns and he nods, reassuringly. Jesus Christ, he’s brave. I know he can do it though.

“I’ll do the easiest trick” I raise my hand and Conor rolls his eyes. “Conor, you know what I’m like”

“True” he smirks.

“Okay, Jack what do you want to do?” Lily asks him.

“What do you think Eleanor would want to do?” Jack asks me.

“She’ll think she’ll be able to do the trickier one but will end up moaning about it so let El do the easier trick and I think you should do the trickier one” I smile and he nods.

“Okay so you and Eleanor are doing the easiest ones, Jack can do the trickier one and Conor’s doing the hardest” Lily confirms and we all nod.

“The most reckless” Conor corrects her and I think we all roll our eyes.

“I’m back!” Eleanor smiles, joining us all at the ramp.

“How did you know where we were?” Conor frowns.

“I followed the smell of your body odour” she snaps and I gasp.

“I don’t smell” Conor argues.

“No, I could just see your quiff all the way from the main reception” she smirks, pointing to the main reception.

“Bitch please, the only reason why you’re on this holiday is because your Dad’s here. At least I got invited” Conor fires back and she holds her heart in shock.

“I’d much rather be at home than be here with you. Your body odour’s making me cry” she fans her hand around.

This is the part where I step in and stop this from getting serious but this is entertaining and I know they’re both not taking this seriously. They’ve had much worse arguments than this and never let anything happen afterwards. They have a very strange and unique relationship.

“Should I step in?” Lily whispers to me.

I shake my head, “No. Conor will either say something really hurtful or Eleanor will end up hitting him. I’m hoping for both, they’re the most entertaining”

She starts laughing, “So are they’re actually having a fall out?”

“They’ve never really liked each other. They have a complicated relationship” I sum it all up.

“If you think I’m making you a throne out of ice now, you’re mistaken” Conor huffs. “But let’s be serious, you couldn’t pull any boy anyway so I shouldn’t have to worry about that”

“And there’s the snap” Jack whispers to me. Eleanor’s face drops and she pushes Conor’s shoulders back.

“Guys, not in public” I moan and Eleanor furiously walks away from Conor.

“Just you wait until we get back to the cabin” she warns him.

“Mmm, can’t wait” Conor winks at her making her growl... Literally.

“Okay, Eleanor” I step in. “We’ve decided that you’re going to be doing a similar trick to mine”

“So something that a two year old could perform?” she frowns and I sigh. She has a comeback for everything...

“No, just something a little bit easier to learn than the rest of them” I shrug.

“Exactly” she nods and I roll my eyes.

“Well you wouldn’t be able to do anything harder so you’re stuck with a two year olds performance I’m afraid” I snap receiving a high five from Conor.

“Eleanor, would you like me to show you what you’ll be performing?” Lily interrupts and Eleanor nods. Lily shows her the trick and El seems pretty confident about it. “You think you can do it?”

“Easy” El shrugs and Lily smiles widely, proud of her attitude.
