40: Affectionate Day
05:23, 2 August 2017JAMIE POV
Jimin walked out of the locker room and made his way over to me. The rest of the team left, so it was just the two of us.
"Hey..." I said.
"Hey. So what did Minho have to say?" He asked as he sat down with his water bottle next to me.
"Not much, nothing to worry about." I said.
"I'm not worried, just curious. What did my enemy have to say alone to my girlfriend?" He asked.
"He asked if I was okay. You know, with my leg and all." I answered. Jimin rolled his eyes.
"Weirdo, why does he need to be alone with you to say that." He murmured. I shrugged. "Okay! Let's get started with the dance, shall we?" He asked. I smiled and nodded as he helped me stand up. I ditched the crutches as I balanced in Jimin's arms. He held me up carefully as he led me to the middle of the dance room. Then, he used a remote to turn on the song we are supposed to use to make the dance and I listened to it.
"Let's freestyle first to get used to it, then we could see if anything can be put together for the choreography." He said. I nodded. "Don't move your feet. Just your upper body. Okay?" He said. I nodded.
He stepped back and I closed my eyes, letting the music sink in. A moment later, I started moving my upper body to anything that came to mind. I did waves, pops, and synchronized movements that I felt matched the song. After a while, I stopped and opened my eyes, only to see Jimin smiling at me wildly.
"Your so freaking amazing." He said. My body suddenly started to heat up. "I love what you did at this part." He said, mimicking the moves I did. After watching him, I was impressed myself.
"Okay, how about we add a little part to that move by doing this?" He asked. He extended my move with a swift turn and bend, and I watched as he completed his move swiftly. I nodded.
"I like it! Oh and how about to this other part," I repeated one of my moves. "We add a couple turns?" I asked. He took my idea into consideration as he tried to bring it to life. I liked what I saw.
"This is so much fun." I said. He turned to me after looking at the mirror, panting, and his concentrated face turned into a cute eye smile.
"Now can you do the moves one more time with the adjustments, so I can mimic them?" He asked.
"Okay, I'll try." I said. With that, he replayed the song and I danced now to my memory. Jimin studied my moves as he slowly did them, and after I stopped, he nodded. Then, he played the song again and did the moves by himself.
"Okay, since you made the upper body movements, let me add the lower body movements." He said. I nodded and watched him. He brilliantly moved his legs, smoothly and with great precision. He mixed my moves with his, and before we knew it, we had a rough draft for a small segment of the dance.
"I think this is a great start. We just have to keep going and we'll have a rough draft of a choreography soon." Jimin said with a huge smile. I returned it.
"Let's continue then, shall we?" I asked. He nodded.
.
.
After two hours, Jimin and I sat on the floor of the dance room, covered in sweat. Although I barely moved the bottom half of my body, I still tried my best with my top half. I sat against the wall and Jimin laid his head on my lap. He looked up at me as I drank water, and he smiled.
I looked down at him with a curious expression, with my mouth full of water that made me look like a bloated fish.
Jimin chuckled and sat up, pecking my lips, as I struggled to swallow the water.
"You're so beautiful, you know that?" He said. I smiled as my heart melted.
"You're so handsome, you know that?" I returned. He smiled and leaned in again. Our lips met and the heat on my body was no match for the heat from my blushing face. We moved our lips in sync and I soon wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He put one of his hands on my cast, and with the other, he held the back of my head.
Moments later, we broke apart, out of breath. We put our foreheads together as Jimin chuckled.
"I'm so glad that you're mine." He said. I looked up at him to see that his eyes were still closed. My already pounding heart practically jumped out of my body. Jimin, you're everything to me.
"I love you." I managed to say, but I couldn't say much more because my heart wouldn't work with my mind to make out words. All I knew was, he made me feel special, loved, and cared for, and that is literally all I can ever ask for.
"I love you too." He said as he separated our foreheads. He looked me in the eyes. "More than anything." He said seriously. At that moment, I knew, that I fell more in love with this boy, and that our love was worth fighting for. Before the thought of my father ruined the moment for me, I quickly thought of a comeback to stop myself from tearing up.
"More than dance?" I laughed. He understood that I was teasingly testing him, and he smiled. He put his finger to his chin, as if thinking about his response.
"Well... you are my girlfriend AND dance partner, so in a way, I'm allowed to love both equally." He said. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"More than Bangtan?" I asked. His eyes widened as his hands went to his heart, as if I asked a horrifying question. Then, he held up his left hand and put his right hand to his heart.
"Scout's honor. Bros before girls." He said. I laughed.
"Fair enough. Bangtan are like my brothers now too, so I can like them more?" I asked. He immediately shook his head.
"Don't look at any other guy than me." He said.
"Aww Jiminie is scared that I'll fall for someone else." I teased. "But that's impossible because I'm too deeply into this jamless boy." I said. He arched his head back as he laughed and I watched as a bead of sweat slid down his perfect jawline.
"You are my jam." He said as he winked. I rolled my eyes and at that, he stood up and offered me his hands to take.
"Let's go get something to eat. I'm starving." He said. I nodded and grabbed his hands, which strongly pulled me up swiftly and safely.
.
.
Jimin and I walked to a nearby convenient store and bought ourselves some ramen, sausages, kimbaps, and ice cream. I grabbed a table for us outside the store and waited for him to come out. After a few minutes, he came out with our heated ramens and sausages, and with the other things in a bag in his hand. He put the bag down on the table and placed my ramen in front of me, then sat down and put his down along with the sausages.
"I hope you don't mind that we're eating this today." He said. I shook my head.
"Oh no, not at all. I'm really glad that we're eating this actually." I said. He smiled and nodded. I started to eat my ramen as I blew on the hot noodles, and slurped them. After a while, I looked up to see Jimin staring at me.
"What?" I asked. He chuckled.
"You have a passion for eating." He said. I shrugged.
"You have a passion for watching." I replied.
"Well, I'm sorry that you manage to make my heart race when you do literally anything." He said, smiling while looking down and starting to eat. I couldn't help but to smile as well.
"You're going to run out of cheesy lines one day." I joked. He teasingly wiggled his eyebrows, and I knew that he was trying to think of a cheesy comeback.
"But I'm never going to run out of love for you." He said, while chewing his noodles. I gave a small laugh.
"Are you serious when you say that?" I asked. He looked at me curiously.
"What, you don't believe me?" He asked.
"I just want to know if you really mean what you say." I said, slowly starting to get shy. I looked down, playing with my noodles with my chopsticks, when his hand suddenly caressed, then softly took mine. I looked back up at him to see him with sincere eyes.
"With every inch of my body." He said. I started to heat up as I smiled at him. Thank you Jiminie. Thank you for giving me something to fight for.
"I love you too Jiminie, thank you for being my happiness." I said.
"Thank you for being my jam." He said back. However, when he said it this time, it wasn't in a joking way like always. His tone of voice gave it a deeper meaning than usual, as if the word 'jam' meant more than fun. We started staring into each other's eyes, and stayed like that for what seemed like minutes. I stared into his perfect, dark eyes and got lost in them. It was as if time stopped, and nothing else in the world mattered. Only us.
After a while, we fell out of the trance of each other's eyes.
"Let's finish eating and go home, it's getting cold." He said with care. I nodded, and with that, we both continued to eat our ramen, sausages, kimbap, and ice cream.
.
After we were done, we threw away our trash and started to head home. It was silent as we walked, and the sun was setting. We moved slowly, but in a comfortable atmosphere.
"Hey Jamie?" Jimin suddenly asked. I turned to him.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"So, when is your leg going to be better?" He asked. I shrugged.
"I'm going to get a checkup soon with Elizabeth, so I'll let you know. I mean, I think it's better." I said.
"Yeah, but Taehyung kicked it and stuff..." Jimin said while sighing.
"It's fine, that was really no big deal." I said.
"I'm sorry again about my mom. It's just, she's really picky for some reason, but it doesn't matter because I chose you, and I'm not changing my decision, nor do I want to." He said. I nodded.
"I'm sorry you haven't met my dad yet. He's... picky too I guess." I said. He nodded.
"But isn't it better for him to know? The sooner we tell him, the faster he can accept it, right?" He asked.
"It's a little more complicated than that..." I said.
"Jamie, we can wait as long as you want. I respect your decision." He said. I felt a little guilty after hearing those words, but at the same time, I was relieved.
"Thanks... I'm really sorry Jimin." I said. He shook his head.
"Whatever'll make you happy." He said. Why is he so amazing?
"What the heck did I do to deserve you?" I asked, more asking myself than him. He chuckled.
"You were you." He said.
"Jimin you really know how to make a girl feel special." I said.
"You are special. I'm just helping you to realize it." He said. I was touched. Never did I expect to hear anyone call me special. If you told me two months ago that I would be dating the most amazing guy on Earth, and if you told me that I would be happy, and that I would get stronger just because one person loved me, I wouldn't have believed you.
We got to the front of our houses and I stopped to hug Jimin. I leaned in and gave him the most appreciative hug I could. As I did, I felt a light line of tears form in my eyes, because the joy this boy brought me was beyond what I ever expected to receive.
"Thank you Jimin. I know I say this a lot now, but I hope you understand that each time I say it, my affection for you only grows. I love you." I said. He leaned back to look me in the face. Before he did, I quickly blinked the tears away.
"I love you, more than anything." He said. My heart softened. I tiptoed and caught his lips with mine and softly kissed him. Once we broke apart, we smiled at each other and stared into each other's eyes once more. His dark eyes melted me and I honestly wanted to stare at them forever, because those eyes always assured me of my safety, his care, and our love.
"Goodnight Jiminie." I said. He nodded.
"Goodnight Jamie." He said. I smiled and slowly moved out of his embrace, using my crutches to trudge up the front steps of my house. He watched me, making sure that I didn't slip or fall. One last moment, before I walked in, I turned back and saw him still standing there. He winked at me and I smiled once more, before walking in and closing the door. At that moment, all of the emotions sank in, leaving me with no control over my body. Everything was numb and soothing, and I leaned on the door for support.
Today was such an affectionate day. I felt closer to Jimin, and I knew that we grew together today. It was different than other days, something was different. I don't necessarily know what it is, but whatever it is, I hope it never goes away.
