41: The "New" Girl

07:43, 4 August 2017

JAMIE POV

Fifth period ended and Jimin and I walked to the dance room. Rumors about the new girl have been spreading the entire day, and apparently she doesn't actually start attending the school until tomorrow. She is just going to try out for the team today.

"I wonder what she'll be like." I said.

"Who, the new girl? I don't know, hopefully she's good at dancing." Jimin said lightly. I nodded and continued to walk.

When we got to the dance room and everyone changed, I sat at the corner while the team stretched. Not long after, the door to the dance room opened.

I watched as a figure walked in. Immediately, the room fell silent as they watched the pale girl. Everyone's gaze followed her, and so did my own as I studied her gorgeous aura. She had blonde dyed hair, she was around my height, 5'6, she had a really toned, skinny body, and her fashion was classic yet stylish. I looked at the team to see everyone's eyes widened.

"MOMO?!" Everyone said in sync. My eyes widened. How did everyone know her already?

My eyes grew even wider at the sight of what happened next. Jimin suddenly ran out of the crowd and embraced the feminine figure, and she hugged him back with the same excitement. My heart pinched as I looked at them, and when I turned to see Chelsea's expression, she looked almost as horrified as me. She was actually turning pale, and her gaze turned cold and hard.

"Your back from Japan!" Jimin said with excitement.

"I told you I would come back one day!" The girl named Momo answered. The rest of the team gathered around her as they greeted her. Meanwhile, I watched, still with a pinch in my heart. Who is this girl? How does she know everyone? How does she know Jimin?

Soon, the coach joined the team and opened his arms to hug Momo. She did so in a friendly action, and I watched the happy atmosphere. What surprised me the most was, Jimin didn't even spare me a glance. He kept his smile and eyes on the pale girl, and I couldn't help but to feel a little hurt.

I helped myself up onto my crutches and trudged to the group. The pale girl then looked around, saw me, and looked at me curiously.

"New dancer? Hi! I'm Momo, what's your name?" She asked, extending her hand out in the process. I hesitated, but took her hand in mine as I shook it.

"Um... hi, I'm Jamie, and yeah, I'm the new dancer in the team." I said. She smiled widely and I couldn't help but to stare at her beautiful aura.

"Well, it's really nice to meet you." She said.

"Jamie here, although she's new, is one of our top dancers. She's in front row." The coach said. I felt flattered, but I just smiled and remained silent.

"Woah, really? Is she better than me?" Momo asked in a joking manner.

"She actually might be. She's no joke." The captain responded. I marveled at how much confidence the girl had in herself, as she looked at me with an impressed expression. "She got hurt recently, as you can see, so she has been out for a while." He added.

"Well, I hope you get better soon! Because I want to see what you got!" She said, winking at me in a friendly way. I awkwardly laughed.

"Looking forward to it." I said. She's so nice... but why do I still feel uneasy?

Meanwhile, I kept turning my face to see Jimin, still smiling widely at Momo. I stepped away and let the rest of the team greet her. As I watched, a figure appeared next to me.

"She was our top female dancer a few years ago, and she was like best friends with Jimin. They went to the same dance academy as they grew up." Chelsea explained. I was surprised to see her next to me, let alone talking to me and not insulting me. "She seems all nice, but she's a total brat." Chelsea finished. Then, she rolled her eyes and walked away. I turned back to the team and studied the "new" girl.

She was really pretty. She had big eyes and her hair was layered and nice. Her skin was almost milk-white and she resembled an ideal body. Her crop top showed her chiseled abs, and her shorts revealed her skinny, toned legs.

I looked at her with Jimin, and I felt uneasy. Jimin was smiling wildly at her, but I refrained myself from jumping to conclusions, because I was just told that they were really close friends. That's all.

The only thing that got to me was that... he didn't even look at me once since she came. His eyes were glued to her.

"Okay, okay guys, continue the family reunion later. Right now, we need to see if Momo's dance skills haven't changed. If they haven't, she might just have a spot on our team." The coach said. Momo smiled.

"I guess I have a spot then." She said and everyone responded with,

"Oooohhhh!" Then, they all sat down and Momo stood in the middle of the room, waiting for the music to start.

"You know the drill, let's go with freestyle. Let's start!" The coach said. I kept my eyes on her, waiting to see her skills.

The music started and it took a few seconds for her to adjust. Then, she started and my eyes widened. She was really good. She did amazing waves and jumps, and she looked confident while doing it. Her dancing style was different from mine. Hers was more... feminine-like. Her moves looked like something that would be in some Kpop girl group's dance.

She continued to move and the crowd continued to cheer for her. I looked at Jimin, and saw him laughing and cheering as well. I don't want to admit it... and I don't want to feel this way... but am I... Jealous?

Just... the way he looked at her... the way he smiled... was I being too sensitive? I shook it off and somehow convinced myself that he was just really glad to see his childhood friend again, and that he loved me, and that I was just being crazy.

Finally, for the first time since she arrived, Jimin looked at me and smiled. I smiled back and he winked before turning his gaze back to the dancer in the center of the room.

After the song was over, the whole team cheered. Momo bowed confidently and proudly to her crowd, as she joined them with a smile. I joined them as well, and we were now all crowded in front of the speaker, where the coach also stood.

"What did you guys think?" He asked. Everyone shouted compliments towards Momo, who started blushing, except of course, Chelsea, Jessica, and Sunny.

"How about you captain, what did you think?" He asked Jimin. Jimin smiled.

"Your call coach, but I think she did well." He said. Momo winked at him and smiled back, and I only felt smaller and smaller.

"Well I'll think about it and tell you tomorrow." The coach said. "For now, go sit with Jamie or something and watch the team practice." He added. I felt tense. She smiled over to me and nodded, then we walked to the corner of the room as the rest of the team got in position for practice.

Once we sat down, I saw her looking at me from the corner of my eye, but I couldn't bring myself to look back.

"You're really pretty!" She said to me. I finally turned to her, taken aback. I didn't expect for her to compliment me like that. Especially when she was such a perfect-looking package.

"Th-Thanks! So are you." I returned. She smiled at me.

"Thanks, but seriously your gorgeous! How long have you been here?" She asked.

"Around two months." I answered. She nodded.

"You're new like me and you made it on the dance team? You must be really good at dancing!" She said again. She shined her perfectly aligned teeth at me. "Do you have a boyfriend here?" She asked suddenly. I slowly nodded. Her face lit up.

"Oooh, who is it?" She asked. Before I could answer, the speaker blasted the music, and both our attentions went to the team. Jimin looked over to my direction, but I couldn't tell if he was looking at me or Momo. Either way, he had a bright smile on his face.

The team got in position and waited for the beat to drop. When it did, they were off, popping, locking, and waving. Momo clapped along and cheered as they moved. Meanwhile, I stayed silent, and contemplated whether this girl next to me was really the kind of person Chelsea described her to be, or if she was just a beautiful person inside out.

.

.

About an hour later, the team ended practice and everyone but Bangtan left. They came our way as Momo and I walked towards them as well to meet them. Jimin approached us happily, and for a split second, I thought that he was coming to hug Momo. Momo expected that as well, because as Jimin got closer with his arms open, she did the same, but in a less obvious motion.

However, to my surprise, he turned to me, picked me up, and spun me around. In the midst of surprise, I laughed as his secure arms fastened around me. When he put me down, he was chuckling himself and he back hugged me as he kissed my cheek. I blushed, but I felt comforted, because this proved to me that I was worrying about nothing all along. The rest of Bangtan were with Momo, and when I turned to her, she looked surprised, embarrassed, and kind of... hurt? Jimin kept his arms around my waist from behind as we joined the group again.

"So Momo, what do you think of my girlfriend? Isn't she freaking amazing?" He asked her. Momo was still in shock, but a moment later, she snapped out of it.

"Jamie is your girlfriend?" She asked. He nodded happily and I blushed. "Since when?" She asked, sounding slightly disappointed, yet genuinely curious. This kind of got to me, but I awaited his response.

"A little less than two months ago." Jimin replied.

"Yeah, can you believe it Momo? It seems like just yesterday when he said that girls were too crazy and that dance was all he needed." Rap Monster added. I laughed.

"Yeah well that was before I knew that there were girls who weren't actually crazy." Jimin defended.

"Taehyjng has a girlfriend now too! Her name is Rachel." Jhope added.

"Woah! Taehyung and Jimin! You guys grew up while I was away!" Momo pouted, suddenly completely changing moods into a friendly one. Jimin and Taehyung laughed.

"Let's go somewhere to eat! We'll go change first." Jungkook said. Momo and I nodded as they ran off. When they were gone, a new atmosphere surrounded us. It was no longer peaceful and happy, since neither one of us said a word. I threw in an awkward cough to emit some type of sound, and that's when Momo started talking.

"You were dating Jimin?" She asked. I nodded.

"Yeah, sorry I didn't get a chance to say his name earlier when you asked." I said. She shook her head.

"Jimin's the best. I've known him since we were little." She said. I nodded with interest. "He's a really great dancer too." She added, as if I didn't know already. I nodded once again, but to not be rude. A few moments later, the boys came out, loud as usual. Jimin walked towards us again, but before he could get any closer to me, Momo locked her arm with his and dragged him away.

"Where are we going to eat?" She asked. Jimin looked back at me, but shook it off and started to walk with her. My heart felt a slight pinch, but no one else realized the scene because the boys were too busy being loud.

"Come on Jamie!" Jin said as he put his arm around my shoulder.

"Yeah, let's go!" Jungkook said, putting his arm around my other shoulder. I laughed and nodded as I joined them, following behind Jimin and Momo.

When we got to the café, Momo's arm was still around Jimin's as she dragged him to a seat. I followed, still with Jin and Jungkook by my side, and we sat down in front of them.

Jimin happily shared a menu with Momo, and I sighed as I shared one with Jin and Jungkook. In our booth, Taehyung sat next to us, while Rap Monster, Suga, and Jhope joined Momo and Jimin. I couldn't help but to feel slight anger towards the gorgeous girl, who was all over my boyfriend, but I refrained myself from expressing any feelings. It's okay Jamie. He loves you. They are just really close friends.

With that, I looked back down at the menu, and decided what to eat.
