I woke up the next morning and my dad was sitting on the couch looking at a napkin. "Hey." I yawned as I walked over.

"Hey. Change of plans last night?" He asked as he shoved the napkin is he pocket.

"Yeah. Elena got a call from Stefan who is doing better now. Sorry I forgot to tell you." I smiled lightly. He nodded and looked down. He was usually a lot more- interactive. "Is something wrong?"

"Yeah, uh, yesterday I went to look for your mom. It was a dead end." He sighed as I nodded. "I went to the grill and she came in. She wants to see you and meet Elena." He explained as my heart dropped.

"I don't want to see her." I replied crossing my arms. "She doesn't deserve to meet Elena either."

"She threatened to kill students from the school. There isn't really an option." Dad responded unsure as I sighed.

"So then we have to get rid of her." I shrugged. If she was going to kill people she didn't deserve to be alive.

"We can't just kill her Emmie. She's your mom." He spoke almost upset that I would even think of that.

"I have to get ready for school." I sighed lightly looking to him. I got dressed and knew better then to pack a stake.

They day went by and it was eventually lunch time. I spotted Tyler and Matt with some of their other friends and I sat next to Tyler. "After school game on. Winner buys the other fries."

"Deal." He bet as he put his hand out. I shook it lightly and he smiled.

"Hey guys I'm gonna need your help." Dad said walking over with Flyers. Tyler looked to me and I shrugged. "We're gonna be recreating the battle of willow creek. Tyler's been nominated as head of the production committee." Dad said as I looked at the flyer.

"By who?" Tyler asked confused.

"By me. I've seen your sketches and they're good." Dad responded as Tyler looked at me.

"I may have recommended you for it. Whoops." I tilted my head with a smile.

"Look I'm not really creative and I-" Tyler started to say.

"Yeah well you just pick the team and try to be creative. Just don't mess it up." Dad insisted as he dropped the rest of the flyers and walked away.

"You get to help." Tyler suggested looking at me. It was kind of my fault for him having to design.

"Fair enough. I'm kind of artsy myself so I don't mind." I shrugged lightly. I casually sketched a picture every once in a while and doodled on my tests.

"Matt?" Tyler asked.

"Yeah I don't really want to do that." Matt shook his head. He recently had to kick his mom out so I knew he'd been sad lately. Not to mention Tyler beat him up and made out with said mom.

"Emma." I heard my dad say as he motioned his head towards the door. I noticed Elena and Stefan and realized it was about mom.

"See you later." I smiled lightly as I walked away towards them.

"What's going on?" Elena asked looking to me.

I sighed angrily. "Bad things."

We got to the classroom and I sat in the teacher chair. "I called Damon. He should be here soon." Dad sighed.

"Is something wrong?" Stefan asked looking to dad.

"I saw Isobel last night." He said as I looked to Elena who blinked in surprise. "She wants to meet Elena and see Emma again." He responded. "She threatened to start killing students if I didn't set up a meeting between the three of you."

Elena sat there in shock. I would too if she didn't intentionally leave me for good reason.

Damon walked in and dad thanked him for coming. "What's with all the furrowed brows?" He asked looking at dad.

"I saw Isobel last night." He replied as I leaned back in the chair with my arms crossed.

"Isobels here in town?" Damon asked as he looked to Elena and then to me with worried eyes. I looked to him showing the annoyance of the situation on my face.

Damon started questioning him about what they talked about but their wasn't much talking. Just my lack of a mother threatening dad for assistance.

"I don't know." Dad responded to another question.

"Did words completely escape you?" Damon asked angrily.

"Don't get mad at him. It's been 2 years since he's seen her. He's allowed to be shocked." I sassed at Damon. I was pissed so yes I was going to take it out on everyone.

"Well at least tell me what she wanted?" Damon asked looking to me.

"She wants to see us. Elena and I." I grumbled.

"Elena you don't have to if you don't want to." Stefan explained to her.

"I mean she'll kill people if we don't so there isn't really an option." I added as Elena looked to me.

"She's right. Plus if I don't meet her I'll regret it." Elena nodded lightly.

"Well why does she want to see you?" Damon asked looking from me to Elena.

"I don't know maybe to apologize." Elena shrugged.

"I doubt it." I mumbled. "We should just get it over with. The sooner the better." I said standing up. "After school."

I walked out of the classroom and saw Tyler in the halls. "Hey."

"What's up?" He asked.

"Wanna raincheck to around 6 on those plans for pool?" I asked looking at him.

"Well now that we have this stupid float I don't know if I'll have the time." He sighed lightly.

"Sorry about that. I'll try to help you with it tomorrow." I pursed my lips to a small frown.

"You should make sure you don't have plans next time so we don't have to raincheck all the time." He said as I sighed.

"Yeah I know. I'm bad at plan making, life sucks, I'll see you later." I said before walking to class. I couldn't have some normal fun nowadays.

The school day ended and we went to the grill. I sat at a table with Elena and apparently she brought Stefan.

"I thought you had plans?" Tyler asked walking over to the table.

"I do." I said with a nod. She's be here any minute and I didn't want her to know any of my friends. I didn't want them getting hurt. "I'm meeting up with someone. I'll see you later."

"I guess. It just depends on who's important." He replied with a bit of agitation. I rolled my eyes when he started walking away. He didn't understand any of this. It was a blessing and a curse.

I looked back to Elena when I noticed she was talking to Stefan across the room. All the sudden her face changed. I looked to see my mom. She looked exactly how I remembered. I hadn't seen her in so long. It hurt to see her. I could feel my heart sinking and beating. She sat down and smiled to us. I looked at her with my arms crossed while Elena looked to her sort of surprised.

"Let me guess." She said as she looked to me. "Emmaline." She looked to Elena. "And Elena. It's nice to meet you." She said to Elena. "And it's nice to see you again, Emma."

"I wish I could say the same." I responded as I looked to my drink.

"Elena you really do look just like her. It's eerie." She said as she turned to Elena.

"You've met Katherine?" Elena asked surprised.

"She found me after I turned. Genetic curiosity I suppose." She shrugged lightly. "She would be fascinated, especially because you both look so similar."

"Is that how you walk in the day?" Elena asked looking at her necklace.

"Katherine helped me obtain it." She smiled holding it.

"How about we get to the point. Who's our father?" I asked sitting up straight.

"I won't even bother asking why you're upset." She looked at me sternly like she would when I was in trouble as a kid. "Your father was a teenage waste of space."

"We'd like a name." I shrugged lightly.

"You would wouldn't you? You two come with a lot of questions." She said almost bored.

"Why did you compel that man to kill himself?" Elena asked as I looked to her confused.

"For dramatic impact. I wish it would've worked better on you." Mom responded.

"Human life means that little to you?" She asked surprised.

"Of course it does. She left her own daughters to be what she is." I looked to Elena.

"It's just part of being who I am. I cared more before I turned." She defended herself.

"No that's not. We know other vampires. It isn't true." Elena shook her head.

"Your boyfriend over there by the pool table? Stefan Salvatore. That must mean you are after Damon right? I mean it would only make sense." She shrugged looking to me. I rolled my eyes lightly. I wouldn't be with Damon now. He was still an ass no matter if I was nice or not.

"Why did you want to see us? After all this time you knew about us, why?" I asked looking at her.

"I was curious about you two. I mean you found each other. Plus I also want what your uncle wants." She looked to Elena. "I want Johnathan Gilberts invention." She explained. She was so cold. She was no longer loving. Damon talked about humanity switches and she definitely had hers off.

"How do you know him?" Elena asked.

"He had a crush on me when we were younger. He was the very first person to tell me about vampires." She explained.

"Why did you want to be one?" Elena asked.

"It's a very long list of reasons Elena. I'm sure both of you have thought about them." She nodded.

"No." We both shook of heads.

"That's a lie. Elena, someday you will grow old and Stefan won't. Forever doesn't last long when you're human. And Emma I'm sure the thoughts crossed the mind when wanting to avenge me with your father. Becoming one to find one." She explained with a shrug.

I hadn't thought about it. It crossed my mind once. When dad told me he couldn't find her I thought it'd be easier to find her if we were turned but I soon realized that was dumb. I just didn't understand how she knew.

"I'm sorry but we don't have what you're looking for." Elena said as we stood up. She grabbed Elena's hand.

"Sit down and tell your boyfriend to walk away." She warned as she held Elena's wrist.

"Let go of her." I warned.

"Do as I say." She responded as we both sat down and looked at her.

"I want the invention." She smiled.

"We don't have it she just said that." I said looking at her with my hands in my lap now.

"I know that but Damon does. Emma, I trust you'll be better able to get it." She looked to me.

"Why me?" I asked confused.

"Because it may have only been thirteen years but I raised you. I watched over you and I know you. You have the fire." She explained as I furrowed my brows.

"And if I don't?" I asked confused. I was sure I could get it, I just wasn't sure if I should.

"Well then innocent blood will be on your hands." She shrugged lightly as she stood up. "It was nice seeing you two." She said as she walked away. Elena was about to cry and on the inside I was but on the outside I was angry. I breathed a little heavier and I held my fists.

"You okay?" I asked looking at her as I put my hand on hers. She stood up and I looked to see Bonnie. She looked at Stefan and Bonnie left. That little witch.

I looked at Stefan. "I'm gonna go outside. Get some air." I said as I looked at Elena and then walked out.

I went towards the back of the building and I stood there. I needed to hit something. I looked around when I just instinctively decided that the brick wall was the right thing to punch.

"Ah shit." I winced as I held my hand.

"You okay?" I heard as I saw Damon.

"No I'm not okay. Everyone is a piece of shit and the people that aren't just keep getting hurt." I said angrily. "I just need to hit something. I have a punching bag at home." I sighed lightly as I put my hand through my hair as the other one was bleeding.

He looked to me worried but he didn't say anything.

"My hand." I winced painfully as I looked at it. "Why does it have to be like this? After everything she just comes out of nowhere and she doesn't even say sorry. She doesn't even care that she left me." I stood there and then I was crying. I didn't realize I was until I saw the water falling. I looked at the wall and hit it again and I started bleeding more.

"You are gonna break your hand." Damon explained as he came between me and the wall.

"She's a cold hearted bitch. She used to love me. She used to tuck me in and read me stories. Talk to me about girl drama and help me with homework, but now she just wants to use me." I cried looking at him. "Who does that to their own kid?" I asked as my hand shook and my tears fell. Crying made me look weak but right now I didn't even care. I had every reason to cry. My mother didn't love me anymore. He looked down at my hand and up at me.

"Calm down." He whispered as he wiped the tears. I couldn't see his expression through my tear filled eyes. I took a deep breath and looked at him.

"How does a mother not love her own child anymore?" I asked as I kept crying. "How do I live with knowing that she doesn't give a shit about me?"

He pulled my head into his chest and I cried. He rubbed the back of my head lightly. "You just have to say screw you to the world. Life's a bitch. You can't let it win." He explained as I sobbed on him.

I backed away still sobbing. I wiped my eyes and took a few breaths. "She doesn't matter. She shouldn't make me cry." I tried to convince myself as I kept breathing. Tears kept going but I looked up at the sky to make them stop.

He wiped my last few tears and looked at me. "Your dad is looking for you. Go to the front and get home. You need rest." He said as he held the side of my head. I hadn't noticed until now that he was holding onto me.

I nodded lightly and looked to him. I walked away without saying anything. I made sure my face was dry and I saw my dad. "Where were you?" He asked worried.

"In the back punching a wall." I replied as I showed him my hand. "I need ice."

"Let's go home." He sighed lightly as I nodded.

What did I do to deserve this much anger and sadness?
