chapter 20

and you never call.and I always bawl.your chip on your shoulder,make it ten times bigger and colder

"should we do something with the group again soon?" finn asks as you lay down on his bed. you were at finn's house just hanging out at his for the afternoon. you both were planning to go over lines but also were both procrastinating.

"i don't mind, we can. what were you thinking?" you ask as you sit up, scrolling through insta as you listen to finn.

"we could have a picnic day or we could go shopping?" finn says as you laugh.

"yeah, sure finn, what about the fans?" you say as finn rolls his eyes.

"fuck, i forgot about that." he says as you giggle.

"we could have a picnic? i know a park near my house. no one goes there." you say as he nods.

"okay, should we do it on a saturday?" he asks as you nod.

"we can text the group chat later about it." you say, turning over on your back as your arms stay up with your phone in your hands.

"whilst we're talking about it, we can organise our date if you want." finn says as a smile creeps on your face.

"okay, what did you have in mind for that?" you ask as finn sits beside you.

"i wanted you to decide. would you rather it be casual or fun?" he asks as you stand up to face him.

"hm, depends what lets me to kiss you the most." you say as he chuckles.

"you're very cheesy but honest." he says as you laugh.

"well, if i know you like me, then i'm cutting to the chase." you say as he laughs. he then scoots close to you as your legs wrap around his stomach. you were pulled close to him as he had his arms around your waist.

"i could just kiss you right now if you want." he says as you blush.

"i wouldn't mind that." you say as he smiles back. he kisses you softly on the lips as you kiss him back. he pulls you slightly closer as you both move in rhythm. he brings his hands against your back, secure but strong. you move your legs closer to his stomach until you both let go.

"you're a really good kisser." he says as you giggle. you both pull apart as he drops his head against the pillows. you look at him as he smirks, his arms pulling you on top of him. you lay on his chest as you hear his heartbeat. you listen to each beat and each breathe he takes in and out. you smile as you wrap your arms around him. 

"this honestly counts as a date for me." you say to him as his hand glides across your back, giving you chills.

"alright, i can set up fairy lights and we can watch your favourite movies. text me them so i can download them." he says as you nod.

"and i want cookies and chocolate." you say as he sighs.

"alright. i'll make cookies." he says as you giggle. you look up from his chest as you smile towards him. he looks down at you, a slightly double chin peaking out. you look into his eyes as he looks at yours. he kisses your forehead as you close your eyes, your nose scrunching up. as he lets go, he looks at you again and just sighs.

"you're so beautiful." he says as you smile. you sit up as he continues laying down, as you look at him with a smirk on your face. you lean down and peck his lips as you feel your heart flutter.

this. this was all you wanted.

the little moments like this with finn was the moments you always loved about him. when he would say the little compliments, when he would do the softest gestures by just kissing your forehead, by just making you cookies cause you asked.

it was all you could ever ask for.

"thank you. for being you." you say as he smiles.

"i'm glad by being myself i'm making you smile." he says. you lay back on your chest as he plays slow songs as they sooth your ears. 

he coughs as he clears his throat.

"do you wanna stay...for dinner possibly?" he asks as you smile.

"sure." you answer as he wraps his arm around your waist as he turns over to face you. 

"turn over." he whispers in your ear, with a croaky morning voice, as you turn over, you back against him. you feel his warm air that creeps in your neck as his arms rest around your waist. you smile as he pulls you closer to him, spooning you.

this.

this is what caring was.

"FINN! PIZZA IS HERE!" you hear finn's mum yell as you laugh. finn was dead asleep as you look towards him. you kiss the top of his head as you get up from his embrace as you move downstairs. you see his mum with the pizza boxes as you smile.

"finn fell asleep." you answer as finn's mum smiles.

"right. here ya go, you can have them upstairs." finn's mum says as you seem shocked.

"really? you sure?" you say as she nods.

"i trust you won't make a mess, so just eat it upstairs and bring it down when you are finished. also, i know finn won't come down to eat." she says as you smile.

"thank you mrs wolfhard." you say as finn's mum laughs.

"oh beautiful, call me karen." she says as you smile. (i don't actually know what finns mum is called cause i think its a secret so we're going with karen.)

"thank you karen." you say as she smiles. you turn around to go upstairs as you hear karen sigh.

"i just wanted to say, thank you for making finn happy." she says as you turn back.

"sorry?" you ask, not possibly hearing what she was trying to say or continue on.

"you make finn really happy, and he told me how he played you on at first but you stayed. i'm glad he has found someone that really cares for him and i thank you for that." she says as you smile.

"its honestly no worries. it's good i get to meet a amazing person like him too." you say as finns mum smiles.

"in school, not a lot of people stayed with him until he got this career. they then just used him, pretended or tried to be his friend. he was in the worse place. he felt no one truly cared for him." she continues on as you listen to her, closely listening as you feel your heart crack.

"he was so alone for so long, not feeling like he had anyone. but i remember when you first auditioned and he told me how beautiful you were and were so glad that the duffer brothers had chosen you. when you came to set, he was so excited to meet you and be your friend and see you. and i'm so glad you turned out exactly the type of person he wanted." she smiles towards you as you drop the pizza boxes on the kitchen table as you hug her.

 you feel tears well up in your eyes, the touching story of finn wanting to be your friend just made your heart warm.

"i'm glad i met him too." you say as you feel mum smile. she lets go of the hug as she wipes your soft tears.

"okay now go have some pizza's before they go cold and finn gets angry." she says as you smile, walking off. 

you were so touched by the kind words of finns mum as your heart melted. it was so beautiful the way she spoke of finn and how he was so excited when you thought he didn't care. he truly did, and you were so happy he did. 

you walk into finns bedroom as you place the pizza's on the end of finns bed as you see him slowly rubbing his eyes.

"wakey wakey. we got pizza." you say as he smiles.

"and i got you." he says as you laugh.

"don't be as cheesy as this pizza." you say as he laughs.

"wow, we should stop." he says as you laugh. 

you bring the pizza over as for the rest of the night was just you both enjoying each others company. both eating pizza, laughing, cuddling and just enjoying each others presence .

you were both happy.

but, happiness doesn't always last.
