Chapter 9: Not worth saying anything

02:59, 28 September 2022

"I'm in love with you, Jake."

Jake's eye widened in shock. He felt his legs tremble. "...What? Wait... do you really?"

Sean was also surprised at himself. There were some thoughts that he should've not done this. This awkward tension, not-facing each other. Is this what confessions are supposed to be? Sean took a deep breath. "Yeah."

Jake felt like his insides were screaming with joy once Sean said that word, Sean however, couldn't take it. Was he not ready or was this just one of the feelings you have when you're not that romantic.

Jake smiled. "So, that means we can be..."

"Jake I..." Sean felt his eyes water. "I can't."

Jake felt his heart drop. He was about to say something, but Sean beat him to it.

"Look, I like you. More than that even, but I'm ready for those... romantic things people do. The way I think about it, it feels very weird for me. Too new and.... y'know." Sean scratched his head.

Jake looked down for a while, then turned to Sean, smiling. "It's alright. I understand. We can take things slow for now." his smile grew wide as he said, "And when you're ready, you can tell me."

"Okay." Sean chuckled, his face turning pink, looking away from his now-boyfriend. However you wanna call it. He turned to the sky, seeing it slowly transforming into dark blue, he grabbed the groceries. "It's getting late. I better go."

"Alright." Jake took his groceries. "See you tomorrow?"

Sean nodded. He picked up his groceries and walked down the sidewalk. He turned to Jake again, waving his arms. Jake did the same.

It took a few more moments before the black haired boy disappeared into the streets. Jake couldn't believe what just happened. After that, he felt... confident and excited. If Sean can confess even though he has a fear of romantic things, maybe Jake can confess his secret to his parents.

Feeling happy, he walked to his front door with the groceries. And, not to his surprise, his brother showed up. His smile immediately died down.

"You look happy." Jake's brother crossed his arms, leaning against the wall in their living room. "For once."

"Haha." Jake said sarcastically. He put the groceries down and his shoes away as he did so. "Anyway, I'm in a very good mood. So don't bother giving me a hard time."

"Would you mind explaining what it is that you're happy about?" Miles smiled. It looked like a wicked smirk in Jake's eyes, however. Jake glared at his little brother.

"Why would I explain anything to you? You keep bursting into my private life and making me miserable. Is this what you do in your middle school; to other people? How childish, I thought you were growing up." Jake felt proud as he said those words. He stomped to his room, his brother looking at him; shocked at what he said.

Matt stepped forward. "I'm sorry."

Jake turned to him, about to open his room, but he was curious to hear what his brother had to say. "What?"

"I said I'm...sorry..." the smaller boy mumbled the last part.

"You mean about what you said to me before?" Jake scoffed and rolled his eyes. "A simple 'sorry' won't change what you said to me. If you're truly sorry, you'd stop getting in my way and keep your mouth shut."

Matt put his hands to his side and looked down. In Jake's eyes, he was probably angry about his brother saying that to him, but on the inside... It was a shame.

But, he knew that sorry wouldn't do anything. There was something inside of him that made him regret what he said about his big brother a while back. About everything he has done, but for some reason, he couldn't do it.

Jake glared at his brother before closing the door into his room.

***"And then..." the purple haired boy yawned. "Jun-Pyo said..." he turned to see his boyfriend already asleep on his shoulders and his arms wrapped around his torso. "Looks like this book tired him out. Can't understand this couple anyway..." Zander closed his book and put it on the side of his bed. He made Luke lie on a pillow and tucked him in.Β  Zander blushed. "Saranghae (t: I love you), Luke."

All of a sudden, he saw an aqua haired girl walking past his room. Curious about what his sister was doing, he called after her. "Hailey? Whatcha doing on that phone there?"

Hailey then put her hands behind her back. "Huh? Uh..." she swallowed. "Nothing."

Zander raised a brow. "If it's Jakeβ€”"

"It's not Jake." Hailey scoffed. "Why do you keep assuming it's Jake?"

"'Cause he had that crush on you before?" Zander sighed. "Whatever, at least it's not him. I mean... I guess it would be worse if you were texting Drew or something."

Hailey's heart fainted at that name. SheΒ  was texting Drew. "How'd you feel if I did?"

Zander chuckled. "I'd probably keep him under my bedβ€” no, I'd find him in the school and beat the crap outta him. Who knows what I'd do." He glared at his sister. "Wait... are you...?"

"NO!!! No... it was just a question." Hailey chuckled.

"Oh alright." Zander shrugged. "Then who were you texting?"

"It's... uhm...I..." Hailey put her phone inside her pockets. She was about to lie and then Zander would catch her and thenβ€”

"My little pony~ My little pony~ ah, ah, ah!"

Hailey jumped as she heard that sound. She put her hand over her ear. "Do you hear that?"Β

"Hailey, if this is a way you could avoid talking about who's on the phone, I'llβ€”"

"No, I actually hear it. "

Zander stayed quiet for a bit, until he finally heard the musical sound coming from his little sister's room. He groaned under his breath.

"Shoot, I hear it. Okay, we are talking about this later." Zander glared at Hailey beforeΒ  dashing into his little sister's room. "Bethany, what did we talk about? No My Little Pony until the morning!"

Hailey rolled her eyes and scrolled through her messages. She sighed with relief. If her brother knew what she was up to, he would've done something to Drew. Or maybe the club would.

She went to a few doors and when she reached her room, she immediately jumped onto her bed. She sighed, looking through the conversations she had with Drew. She didn't know why, but it was nice talking to him. He always answers quickly and it's like he's really there.

But, she didn't want to admit that...

All of a sudden, her heart started aching.

***

Dear Diary....

I just confessed. Why did I do that? Why did I do that?! I think I was stupid. That was the most stupid move I could make!

Sean stopped writing in his diary. There were mixed feelings inside his mind. Did he make the right choice? Was it the right time to confess? Maybe the worst part was talking to Milly about this. How would she react and what to do next?!

He tried to calm himself down when a notification bell rang his phone. He started panicking again; thinking it was Jake, he picked it up, relieved to see that it was Milly.

Pink haired devil: SO I herd you and Jake went grocery shopping together~~~~

Sean's face turned red as he read that message. He responded back to his friend:

Sean: Can we talk?

Then, there was the sound of the Facetime call. Sean answered it and Milly's face popped out the screen. She looked so excited and the room she was in looked a little dark with string lights and a black pillow in the background. "Hey, Millyβ€”"

"What happened? What did you tell him? Did you do anything? Tell. Me. Everything..." Milly's face was all over the screen. Rolling his eyes, Sean put his phone down and laid against the pillow.

"I'm too embarrassed to say this..." He was about to facepalm himself. "I kinda... uh..."

"Yes, yes. Don't worry. Elliot showed me this breathing technique that can calm you down in the matter of seconds so don't worry about panicking." Milly shook her phone. "I'm trying to keep my cool now..."

"I confessed to him."

"YOU WHAT?!" Milly screamed. "And you had to tell me this on camera!? Why the heck did you mention this now?! I would've shook your shoulders! I am so freaking proud of you!"

"You said to tell me what happenedβ€”" Sean sighed. "Thank you, Milly. But honestly I'm scared of what might happen next. I told him I wasn't ready for those romantic things yet and that maybe we can go out sometime. What if something bad happens?"

"We'll cross the bridge when we get there, my friend." Milly laughed. She stopped. "But seriously. You got this. If something bad happens, we'll take care of it together. The club, too."

Sean's worry disappeared once Milly said that. He made a small smile.

"Huh...?" There was a distant screaming coming from Milly's room. "Coming mom! Hey, Sean, I have to go! My mom is making my favorite meal for dinner and I need to be the first to try it!"

Sean rolled his eyes. "Alright." he picked up his phone and waved at the screen. "G'bye, Milly."

"See ya later love alligator!~" And with that, Milly exited the call.

Then, there was another notification bell. Sean's panic started again when he realized it was Jake who texted him.

Jake: Wanna have a meal at the mall on Saturday?

Sean thought to himself. At least it isn't a gesture of love or anything. His heart beat rapidly. Even staring at Jake's contact made him a bit nervous.

With hesitation, he responded with:

Sean: Okay. :3

This... took so long. I am so sorry.

I for one don't like this chapter cuz it's so boring, it's written horribly, and it's so unreasonable for Jake's brother to say 'sorry' out of know where!- But we'll find that out eventually.

Don't worry. Cuz you won't have to wait long for the next part cuz I worked on it this weekend and it should be out by Thursday and... I think it's pretty good than this one so to speak 😎

Here I'll give you a spoiler:

"Hey Sean! I'm gonna have a little chat with Jake for a bit. Would you mind waiting with the others?" Milly called out. Once Sean nodded, Milly pinned me against the wall.

"Wah- Hey, Milly what are you-"

"I know what this is about with Sean and you, Jake." My eyes widened. Did Sean tell her?

"Uh... I-"

Milly clenched her fists like she was about to hit me. I flinched. "And you know Sean is sensible when it comes to love and you're the first person he fell for so you know what?" She glared at me. "If you hurt him in any way I won't hesitate to punch that sick smirk off your face. You got that?"

I nodded slowly. I was too breathless to think right now.

Once Milly unpinned me, she skipped towards Sean.

Anyway I won't waste any more of your time. Thank you all so much for reading and I'm still so sorry for taking so darn long. And i'll see you all next time!
