Chapter 10: A Platonic Date Part 1
18:29, 1 September 2022TW: mentions of Vandalism (idk if that's something I need a put a warning to but I'll do it anyway :3)
Jake's POV:
Ever since I've confessed to Sean... Or... I guess it was Sean who confessed to me; everythings been so calm lately. Maybe the right word isn't calm but it's rather: I'm feeling so damn happy. It's simple, but it's what I've been feeling lately. Like, even my brother stopped getting in my way, it's getting a little odd.
Anyway, today, Sean, Milly, and I have been working on the song together. I've been trying hard not to burst out the fact that Sean and I are 'platonically' going out since he isn't comfortable, but I think that he already told her. Maybe Milly found out herself, but I didn't bother to bring it up since I didn't want to make Sean feel uncomfortable. And I guess that holding hands and calling each other pet names can wait as well.
I think what I'm most worried about is making Milly get mad. She told me something after music practice...
~~~
"Hey Sean! I'm gonna have a little chat with Jake for a bit. Would you mind waiting with the others?" Milly called out. Once Sean nodded, Milly pinned me against the wall.
"Wah- Hey, Milly what are you-"
"I know what this is about with Sean and you, Jake." My eyes widened. Did Sean tell her?
"Uh... I-"
Milly clenched her fists like she was about to hit me. I flinched. "And you know Sean is sensible when it comes to love and you're the first person he fell for so you know what?" She glared at me. "If you hurt him in any way I won't hesitate to punch that sick smirk off your face. You got that?"
I nodded slowly. I was too breathless to think right now.
Once Milly unpinned me, she skipped towards Sean.
Sean's POV
Ever since I've confessed to Jake, everything has been well. Today, Jake, Milly and I were doing vocals and sounds for the song again and I didn't stutter at all. Honestly, I think I have been feeling a bit comfortable standing with Jake.
Nothing has been awkward and I don't think I'm worried about anything. Maybe it's because I'm having a good day. I... am a bit nervous about going to the mall with Jake, though. Oh and for the record, this is not a date. It's just a hang-out between friends.
There is one person I'm worried about, though. And that's Hailey. She's been acting a little strange ever since she's been late that day. I decided to confront her about it. I'm pretty sure Zander knew something was up, but he didn't utter a word. So, I thought it was best that I talked with Hailey myself.
~~
"'Sup Hailey."
Hailey put her phone inside her pockets and chuckled softly. "Oh, hey Sean. Nothing much. Just... Uh... school work and stuff."
"Oh, I see." I scratched my head. My tummy turned into having butterflies. I guess it's about time I head straight to the point. "I notice you've been going through your phone a lot, um..."
"Oh. That."
"Is it a someone?~" I smirked.
Hailey's face turned red. "No! It's... uhm..." I could tell she tried to fight back, but nothing worked on her.
"Don't worry I won't tell Zander." I chuckled, softly. "You can tell me, though. Who is this person?"
Hailey paused for a moment. She sighed. "I can't tell you right now." She put her hands together.
I raised a brow. I guess I could understand her right now. I put a hand on her shoulder and smiled. "Don't worry, Hailey. Who ever this person is, I'm sure we all could accept it, right?"
Hailey chuckled. "Yeah... right."
Sean sat on the bench near Lander mall. His hands were trembling and he felt his head sweat. He didn't know if it was because of the weather or the the fact that he was about to go on a date with Jake Sterling himself.
He decided to wear a shirt with short jeans and his headphones resting on his shoulders. It's not like they're gonna be going on a restaurant or anything. It's probably just a stroll in the mall.
This is the second day they were both together: platonically, though. The DJ leaned against the bench.
Do I really want this to be just a friendly date...? Maybe I actually want this to be something moβ
"Hey, Sean!"
Sean's thoughts disappear when the peach haired boy suddenly showed up holding two cups of ice cold pink lemonade. "Oh! Gosh, Jake you scared me."
"Oh, sorry." Jake chuckled and sat right next to the tall boy. He gave the extra pink lemonade to him. "Sorry I think I got here late. And then I saw someone selling lemonade nearby, I decided to get it for you." He scratched his head.
"Oh, that's great. I love pink lemonade." Sean took a sip and smiled. "Thanks, Jake."
"No worries." Jake took a sip of his pink lemonade and leaned against the bench to get some air. "Ah... the weathers getting really hot now, huh?"
Sean nodded. "Yeah." Then he sighed.
Jake thought for a moment. "So, what do you wanna do?"
Sean turned to the peach haired boy with a tilt. "Oh, I was hoping you knew?"
"I was too busy asking you out, I didn't know what to do once we got here!" Jake protested.
"Well, I'm fine with anything." Sean shrugged, chugging his pink lemonade. "What do you wanna do?"
"No, what do you wanna do?" Jake scoffed.
"I'm the older one here and I asked: what you wanna do because I care what you do."
"Well, I asked first, and I prepared this pink lemonade for you, and I asked you out. So, it's better if you choose where we're going first." Jake smirked. "And I have more reasons so I win."
Sean rolled his eyes. "Fine." He rested his head with his palms and winked at the peach haired boy. "But, soon I'll get to win."
Jake blushed and looked away, coughing. "We'll see about that."
Sean stood up and put his empty pink lemonade in the trash bin. He thought for a moment. He looked at the arcade, the food place, and the shopping malls nearby. Suddenly, a light bulb lit up.
"Oh! I got an idea!"
*****
"Woah!" Jake laughed. "How did I never see this before!?"
"Eh, teenagers have a way of holding their phones everywhere they go; they forget what's beautiful." Sean crossed his arms and smirked.
Sean decided to lead Jake to a fountain outside of the mall. There was were statues of fishes and dolphins. Their mouths were sprouting water, and it was like the fountains were dancing. The waters were going in and out of the sea creatures's mouth.
People really go outside of the mall, but what they didn't know is that they were missing out on the big things. At least, that's what Sean says. "It's mostly beautiful at night, y'know." he picked up a quarter from his pocket and threw it into the fountain. "I go here by myself. I actually never brought anyone here before though."
"Oh." Jake turned to the tall boy. "So I'm the first?"
"I think so." Sean thought to himself. "I guess I was about to take Daisy here once, but I thought the market was a closer place."
Jake's face lowered down in the mention of the white haired girl. He shook his head. "How do you always know the prettiest places? Like, you took Daisy to this wonderland market thing to talk about her problems and now here."
Sean sighed, relaxing because of the cool air. "Music takes me anywhere. I always thought that it was stupid for people to be holding their phones 24/7, focusing on shopping and on their boyfriends and girlfriends when they could just go anywhere and relax for once." he stopped for a while and put his hands on his pockets. "Or maybe that's my fear."
Jake raised a brow. "What do you mean?"
"If I fall in love and focus on just that one person, I might accidentally not focus on the world around me. I might focus on them cheating, not working out, and..." Sean shivered and sat down to the side of the fountain. "Iβit's hard to explain, sorry."
"No, no. I get it." Jake smiled. He sat next to the black haired boy. "Hey, if you are ever ready to have a real relationship; even if it isn't with me, I promise I'll let you focus on your music and the world. We'll go together, as friends or maybe as something more." he held Sean's wrist. "Just don't deny your feelings."
"Thank you, Jake." Sean grinned and looked down. "Well... what about you?"
Jake tilts his head on Sean's sudden question. "What about me?"
"I mean, I always talk about myself; let's talk about you this time." Sean smirked.
"Okay?" Jake laughed. "Well let's see..." Jake thought about something to talk about, but nothing pops out of his head. "Oh, gosh, how do you talk about things so much clearer than me?"
"Just say whatever passes through your mind."
Jake began thinking. He didn't know where to start. He tapped his legs with his hands. The fountain began almost sprinkling both of them. Jake chuckled. "I guess it's my first time falling for a guy." Sean tried not to look at Jake as he said those words. "Like I said before... I'm really scared of getting made fun of. But maybe that's the least of my worries now."
Sean raised a brow. "Really?"
"My parents." Jake sighed. "If they found out I was in love with a boy, I don't know what they'd think. I think my brother knows; ever since he found out, he's been a jerk to me."
Sean's eyes widened. "How old is your brother?"
"13." Jake groaned. "And I don't know what's wrong with him." he looked down, crossing his arms. "I could tell my parents, but he'd tell them my secret."
"Oh..." Sean turned to the blue sky and then to Jake. "Do your parents ever pay attention to your brother?"
"Theyβ" Jake stopped. He never thought of that before. They never focus on his brother. Or rather, just focus only on Jake and Jake only. Without a proper answer, Jake responded with. "I... I don't know."
"Maybe... your brother just wants attention." Sean said. "And well, if that's not the case and your parents don't accept you, the club and I will be here for you."
"Yeah." Jake thought about what kind of things his brother could get into. Shaking his head, he continued with, "Thanks Sean."
***
A blonde teen stepped foot in the middle of an alleyway, expecting to meet his former friends. He wore his regular gaming shirt and jeans, holding his phone.
"Oh you're here."
The boy turned in front of him and spotted his older friends. Unlike him, they were muscular, bandages from the fights they always get into; and scars all over their faces and arms. Sometimes, the boy was afraid to even talk to them, but he had no choice.
"Are you ready?" One of his friends held a red bottle of spray paint.
The boy shivered, but he had no choice. He grabbed the spray paint and smirked.
"Yes, yes, I am."
Hey hey heeey~
Alright guys. I'm getting pretty close. I am now in the half part of this story. My goal is to finish this before ep.10 arrives. And yes, I do have school so I really need to organize my schedule haha ;w;
This is actually one of my favorite chapters since Sean isn't running away from Jake or anything XD But... we'll see if that continues π
Anyway, thank you all for reading. And I'll continue writing this now π
