Chapter 20

18:47, 4 January 2015

While the rest of the team had gone to find Hanna and make sure she was safe, Hotch and Gideon had stayed behind with Garcia in order to find the Daria.

Somehow, Garcia had managed to track the servers which had been observing Hanna’s electronic movements: credit card transactions, phone calls, emails etc. The servers changed frequently however the first two digits always stayed the same meaning they were from the same computer.

They realised that Hanna had been smart and easily covered her location however she was stupid enough to buy her airplane tickets from Nevada to Quantico in her own name.

“Why would she do that?” Garcia questioned.

“Because she wanted us to find her” Gideon answered simply “She wanted to make it easy for us”

The two agents were hovering over Garcia’s computer screens.

“Yeah but isn’t that like a really stupid move? I mean sure she wanted us to find her but were we worth risking her life for?” Garcia asked.

“She seemed to think so” Gideon frowned a little.

“Can you trace the Daria’s server?” Hotch asked and Garcia actually scoffed.

“Sir, you’re talking to your fairy godmother, your sugar plum fairy, of course I track their server” she informed him before quickly tapping a few keystrokes into the computer “However it might take a while to get an exact location since they’re using special software”

The two agents sighed and glanced at each other.

“Garcia’s right though, why would Hanna be that stupid?” Hotch said after a while.

“Maybe she thought we could save her” Gideon shrugged.

“We can” Hotch sounded determined.

“We have to think about this logically. Hanna will never be safe; the Daria is a massive organisation that will never be completely wiped out. Hanna will have to be kept in safe houses all her life” Gideon mumbled.

“It’s the only way” Hotch stared intently back.

“But is it really saving her?”

“What’s the alternative?”

There was a brief silence filled only with the tapping of Garcia’s fingers hitting the keyboard.

“Maybe she didn’t want us to save her” Gideon suddenly thought out loud.

“What?” Hotch frowned.

“Well, this whole time she acted like she was horrified we couldn’t take down the Daria for her, she said she was wrong about us but she never seemed surprised” Gideon began and Hotch caught on to what he was saying.

“She cleared out her apartment then went to see her friend Benny at the sandwich shop” he continued.

“Then she had her favourite sandwich one last time before coming to see Reid”

“Her oldest friend and the boy she was in love with” Hotch finished “She even went to see Johnny”

“Right so she said goodbye to her apartment, her father figure, her only love and her friend” Gideon summarised “That’s the profile we’d characterise someone who was going to kill them self”

Before Hotch could answer, Garcia cut in.

“Sir, I’ve found them” she whispered.

“Where?” Gideon asked.

“Level two of the FBI headquarters in Quantico”
