Chapter Five: Stolen Ship

22:12, 26 June 2017

Samantha was only just coming down from the crows nest, some three hours later when Will spoke up. "When I was a lad living in England, my mother raised me by herself. After she died, I came out here, looking for my father."

Samantha moved past him to inspect the wood work of the ship. "Is that so?" She asked as Jack did the same thing.

Both pirates looked at each other, moving slightly closer.

"Stop doing that." They ordered in tandem. "No you stop!" "I said it first." "It's my boat!" "Who made you cap'n?" "Answer me!" "Alright, one, two, three!"

"Lets drink rum!" Jack exclaimed as Samantha turned to Will. "I'm sorry, you were saying?" She asked, ignoring Jack's pouting.

Will, however, didn't seem bothered by their antics at all as he was lost in thought. He looked up at Jack and Samantha with an idea taking hold in his head. Samantha winced, knowing that knowledge means power and there are some bits of knowledge that she would rather Will not know of.

"My father, Will Turner. At the jail, it was only after you learned my name that you agreed to help. Since that’s what I wanted, I didn’t press the matter. I’m not a simpleton, Jack. You knew my father." Will concluded as he stared suspiciously at Jack.

"I knew ‘im. Probably one the few who knew him as William Turner. Everyone else just called him Bootstrap or Bootstrap Bill." Jack infirned as he stared at the sea.

"Bootstrap?" Will murmured to himself.

"Aye. Good man, bloody great pirate. Smart little shit too, what I would've gived..." Samantha trailed, not daring to continue at the look if Will's broken expression. "It’s not true. He was a merchant sailor. A good, respectable man who obeyed the law." Will denied furiously as he glared at the two. "He was a bloody pirate, a scallywag." Jack announced to Will as if it were a fact, which it was, but not in Will's mind. "My father was not a pirate." Will denied once more, forcefully drawing his sword. "Bloody hell. William put down the damn sword." Samantha demanded.

He turned on her.

"I don't know who you are or why you are pretending to be someone you obviously aren't but it's clear your a pirate, you probably traded Elizabeth for your freedom! You probably killed my father." Will accused the woman, who remained rather calm. The only indication that she was scared came from deep within her eyes, where a slight shift from her normal thick, deep, sea eyes changed into a burning sapphire.

"Put it away, son. It’s not worth you getting beat again." Jack spoke up as Samantha inched her hand towards her knife. "You didn’t beat me. you ignored the rules of engagement. In a fair fight, I’d killed you." Will pointed out. "Then that's not much incentive for me to fight fair, then, is it?" Jack retorted.

Will turned back to Samantha, clinging onto some sense of logic. "And she doesn't know how to sword fight." He added.

"Doesn't know how to sword fight? Really?" Jack exclaimed. He then leaned forward, loudly whispering a second bit to Samantha. "They bought that?" Samantha glared but said nothing.

Jack shrugged, then tightened his grip. In that moment a few things happened. First, Samantha's eyes widened in realization. Next, Jack inched to the side of the wheel. She leaned back so as to not slit her throat then swung down. Jack finally pulled the wheel, ducking as he did, sending an ignorant Will hanging off the side of the boat.

"Sparrow, we still need him." Samantha quietly hissed, she wasn't heard by the terrified Will who attempting to regain his hold. "I know luv, give me a moment." Jack replied as he moved forward slightly. "I know luv, give me a moment." Samantha mimicked as she moved to stand slightly down the steps.

"Now, as long as you’re just hanging there, pay attention." Jack ordered Will, who desperately tried to look as attentive as possible. Somehow he also managed to look like a confused puppy that just lost it's food. "The only rules that really matter are these – what a man can do and what a man can’t do." Jack started to explain, waving his hands expressively. Samantha rolled her eyes slightly. "For instance, you can accept that your father was a pirate and a good man or you can’t. But pirate is in your blood, boy, so you’ll have to square with that someday. Now, me, for example, I can let you drown but I can’t bring this ship into Tortuga all by me and Samantha's onsie, savvy?" Jack asked with a grin as he backed up toward the wheel.

"So," he started, spinning the wheel back about so that Will dropped onto the quarter deck. "can you sail under the command of a pirate? Or can you not?" Jack asked with a grin as he handed Will back his sword.

Will sat up slightly. "Tortuga?" He asked. "Tortuga." Jack confirmed. "Tortuga!" Samantha cheered with a grin.

It took about a day and a half to sail to Tortuga. Jack took the first day at the helm, Samantha took that time to rest and nap for her shift. At dusk, Samantha took over, working into a few hours after sunrise the next morning. As the pair traded off working the helm and checking the corse, Will took care of what needed to be done on the ship. Around dusk the day after setting sail from Port Royal, Samantha expertly steered the ship to dock, Jack and Will helping to slow her down and tie her up.

Samantha was jumping for joy as they walked through the town, happily greeting this girl or that.

"Hey, look at that! 'Ow are ya?" A woman greeted joyously, hugging the slightly younger girl happily. "Good, sailin with Sparrow. How's tha Cathouse?" Samantha asked with a grin, earning the attention of Jack and Will quickly. "Oh good, good. We have more than enough women to sate an armada." The woman boasted, she then looked Samantha up and down with a grin. "We still have room, if you would like..." she trailed with a suggestive smirk. "Nah, sailin is in me blood. Another day Madam." Samantha admitted with a shrug. "Anoter day luv!" She called before rushing after an rather impatient sailor.

The trio started walking again. "Tortuga." Samantha sighed happily. "More importantly, it is indeed a sad life that has never breathed deep this sweet, proliferous bouquet that is Tortuga, savvy? What do you think?" Jack continued their conversation from before the reunion.

"It'll linger." Will diplomatically admitted.

"I’ll tell you mate, if every town in the world were like this one, no man would ever feel unwanted." Jack exclaimed. "And no woman in the world would know poverty." Samantha added in a hushed whisper to Jack, who grinned in agreement.

"Scarlett!" Jack greeted. "Scar! Luv! How are- ouch." Samantha tried to greet but winced as she placed a sharp slap on Jack's cheek then marched off. "Not sure I deserved that." Jack stated in confusion.

"Giselle!" Samantha exclaimed, running over to the blonde happily. "V- Sweetheart! You don't mind if I slap your company do you?" The woman asked softly as they strutted towards Jack. "Go for it." Samantha allowed.

"Giselle!" Jack exclaimed cheerfully. "Who was she?" The blonde interrogated with an unimpressed and pissed look. "What?" Jack faltered.

Giselle slapped him hard, grinned at Samantha, then left with a turn of her heel.

"I may have deserved that." Jack lamented.

"Oh you hear alot of stories about the sailors and their sport. About how every sailor has a girl in every port. But if you added two and two you'd figure out real quick, It's just because the girls all have a lad on every ship." Samantha sung joyously as they made their way to find the quartermaster.
