Chapter Four: Open Sea
22:07, 26 June 2017Without too much more conversation, the trio made it to the beach. Out on the sea, laid a bone-crushing ship as mighty as the sea. She stood broad and tall, a power to be reckoned with.
Power was good, however, being well versed in the sea, Samantha knew that the Dauntless couldn't compare to the interceptor. What good is power if you're too slow to catch anything?
"We're going to steal the ship? That ship?" Will clarified as he shot worried glances towards the Dauntless. "Commandeer. We're going to commandeer that ship. Nautical term." Jack corrected as he pointed towards the Interceptor. "Somehow I don't think the royal navy will see it like that Jack." Samantha retorted as she watched the men prepare the Interceptor for travel.
"Shut it." Jack grumbled before turning about to Will. "One question about your business, boy, or there's no use going. This girl- how far are you willing to go to save her?" Jack asked, Samantha having a keen ear towards Will's responce.
"I'd die for her." The Turner bravely pronounced. "Oh good. No worries then." Samantha and Jack cheerfully exclaimed at the same time.
Samantha had always loved the look of the sea floor, through the clear caribbean waters, Samantha could see each aspect as she swam in between Jack and Will. The pair on her front and back soon discovered that Samantha was far shorter than them when her mouth and nose disappeared under water while the water only came to the bottom of their necks. It was Jack who suggested she swim and not help carry the boat with them to try and save her breath.
"This is either madness or brilliance." Will whispered in awe as he took in the sea. "It's remarkable how often those two traits coincide." Jack retorted as Samantha hummed her agreement.
Soon, the three ditched the boat, Samantha expertly swimming towards the Dauntless, silently breaking surface, not so much as a gasp for air was heard from her.
Jack only sucked in a short breath, having learnt to hold his breath.
Will made the loudest commotion of the three, gasping as he noisily broke the waters surface.
"Silent, lets go." Samantha ordered in a whisper, moving to climb the Dauntless. Jack followed her lead as she made her way from the water with only a slight ripple notifying her presence in being there. After Jack came Will, who tried desprately to keep up while keeping silent as well, putting his stamina to work as the minutes dragged on.
When Samantha's booted feet hit the ground she slowly drew her sword, creeping along with Jack before making their presence known by pouncing from the quarter deck to the main deck.
"Everyone stay calm! we are taking over the ship." Jack annouced as he pointed his sword parallel to Samantha's towards the men. "Aye, avast!" Will shouted, earning a smack on the head from Samantha and a wince from Jack.
Gillette laughed as he took in the sight. To be true, the only one he saw as an immediate threat was Jack, who seemed to have rather good luck at winning fights without use of a gun. Along with that, if he didn't win by some chance, he would easily slip through the navy's fungers like water from a net.
"This ship cannot be crewed by two men. You'll never make it out of the bay." Gillette retorted.
Samantha cocked an eyebrow. "Am I chopped liver?" She asked as she counted three people, not two, present in their company.
Jack rolled his eyes and drew his pistol. "Son, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow. Savvy?" He asked as he cocked back the hammer.
Gillette and his were not quite sure how they ended in there position, all piled in one boat, sailing away from the Dauntless and towards the bay. However unprobable the situation seemed, the man was not completely a fool as he grabbed the attention of the commodore and his men.
The Commodore moved quickly, falling straight into Jack's trap as he prepped the ship for sailing.
So maybe Gillette is every inch the fool everyone takes him to be.
"We need to disable rudder chain or they'll shoot us down as we sail away." Jack ordered as he and Will acted like arguing idiots for the Commodore, who was sure to be watching. "Leave it to me." Samantha replied, quickly disabling the chain before moving to sabatoge as many cannons as she could, just incase.
Not but ten minutes later, the crew of the Interceptor foolishy crossed ships, leaving no one behind to gaurd the already set ship. Samantha, who had predicted such ignorance was the first to cross, with Jack and Will a second behind. Will snapped the lines as he passed them by, Jack took the helm as Samantha helped the sails catch the wind. Soon, the Interceptor was sailing away, leaving her faithful crew and commander on the slower ship.
As the Commodore and his men moved towards the Dauntless's railing, Jack ostentatiously tipped his hat. "Thank you, Commodore, for getting us ready to make way. We'd have had a hard time of it by ourselves." He called as he sailed away, only one man was brave enough- or stupid enough- to attempt to reboard the Interceptor, landing far too short and recieving a watery welcome.
Samantha grinned as she felt the familiar sea wind blow past her and the pull of her muscles as they helped the ship to set sail.
By the time Samantha had finished, the Interceptor was nearly out of the bay, putting more and more distance between themselves and the sabatoged dauntless.
"So, how does it feel to be a proper Cap'n again?" Samantha asked as she leaned against the rail of the quarter deck. "Exhilarating. It feels like..." "Sex?" Samantha offered. "Yes, it feels almost... better." Jack agreed as the wind blew his dreadlocked hair behind his shoulders. "It feels like freedom." Samantha whispered to Jack, her head lolling bacl as she basked in the heat of the sun, contradicted by the sea's cold wind and relieving spray. "Freedom." Jack murmured happily.
Will came onto the quarter deck as he saw the pairs happy expressions. Jack's he understood, but Samantha puzzled him.
"Why do you look so happy? If we return to Port Royal, we will be executed." Will pointed out to the girl. "Aye, but who said anything about me returning to Port Royal?" Samantha asked with a grin as the ship rocked her into a sense of familiarity. "Have you sailed before?" Will asked curiously, he had noticed her quick handy work on deck but couldn't place where a respectable woman might have served."All the time when I was little." Samantha revealed, a reminiscent smile lazily taking her facial muscles. "On what ship? No respectable Captain would let a young girl do the back breaking work of a sailor." Will pointed out.
Jack grinned at his wording as Samantha pushed forward. She moved easily to the stairs, keeping a firm grip on the railing but not a noticible one. She moved down to the maindeck, making her way towards the stairs leading to the crew's cabins. "Who said anything about it being a respectable ship by the King's standards?" Samantha asked with a laugh as she disappeared down to the haul of the ship.
Jack started mindlessly humming a sea shanty, promptung Will to make his way forward to poop deck to practice sword fighting.
"For the voyage is long and the wind don' blow, and it's time fer us to leave 'er." Samantha sang along as she passed Jack a bottle of rum, taking one with her to the crows nest.
