Chapter 7

22:52, 21 July 2022

Daniel stared at the challenge on his phone. Was he contemplating doing this or not? No. He wasn't. All he was going to do was get Vin off of the ladder and to safety.

Daniel sighed as he handed his phone to the same lady Vin did and stood on the ladder. He was terrified. Crouching a bit, he placed his hands out in a protective motion just in case he were to fall.

Daniel took a deep breath and focused on Vin who seemed to be most concerned about keeping his head down. Daniel placed his right foot in front of him, lodging the step into the crevice of the small heel that his dress shoes had. That seemed to give Daniel a balance that was easily breakable if he shifted the wrong way. Yet, he still felt a sense of security. Being this high up was so frightening that Daniel wasn't sure if it was adrenaline that gave him this carefree feeling. He was so nervous but he felt well prepared for the incident.

He slowly made his way to Vin, making sure to take his time as he went over each step. Within five minutes, Daniel was in front of Vin and he quickly knelt to keep his balance. He placed his left hand down on the guard rails and gripped it tightly as he spoke.

"Vin, I'm sorry but, this going to hurt," Daniel said gently, waiting for Vin's permission before he touched him.

"I can take it just, don't look at my face," Vin said keeping his head down.

Daniel quickly examined the ladder and Vins' foot to determine the best way to break him out of this tricky situation. Once he saw how, Daniel switched to sitting down, one leg hanging down between a gap and one outside of the guard rail. He then turned his head to look at the woman holding his phone.

"Hold this side tight," He shouted at her.

"They say you need to stand up or you'll bail too," The lady responded as she and a few others held the ladder as instructed.

"I don't care! If they think this is a fail then their delusional. I'm trying to help Vin, who's injured, not entertain them," Daniel yelled back as he turned to the people in the next suite over.

"Okay, on my count, I want you to push the ladder just a bit so I can pull his foot out," The guys in the suite nodded as they all held on tightly to the ladder. "Once I get him out I'll try to head over there with him."

If he lets me.

"Okay Vin, you ready?"

Vin nodded.

"Okay go!"

The boys moved the ladder towards Daniel as he slipped Vins' foot out of the ladders hold, surprised when Vin didn't scream or push him off the ladder instead, he just held his head down.

"Vin?" Daniel hesitantly placed his hand on Vin's shoulder.

"What," He snapped back. "You already helped me out but, it's too late for that. I bailed." Vin seemed to be sulking, wallowing in self-pity. The guys neighboring the woman's suite pulled the ladder back and held it in place as Vin got into a crawl position and made his way to the other side with Daniel not far behind.

Once the two reached the other side, applause could be heard as the guys on the other side were watching Daniel live on their TV. Daniel was baffled at the text on the screen.

Challenge complete! Congratulations Player! Now depositing money into the provided bank account.

Daniel was at a loss for words as he remembered Vin. He looked around and found nobody but the three boys renting the suite. He then remembered his phone that was still with the woman and turned around.

Instead of the woman, he was met with the worried eyes of DG. He seemed out of breath before feigning indifference once he met Daniel's gaze.

Daniel was furious. Where the hell was DG when this was happening? Didn't DG say he was going to protect Daniel?

Daniel turned around and exited the suite, quickly heading back to the women to get his phone. He'd question DG once he got his phone back.

As Daniel made his way back up the stairs to the seventh floor he was bombarded with the excited chatter of people overflowing from the women's suite.

Daniel pushed through multiple people before he finally found the women by the window.

"Can I have my phone back please?"

"Oh," The women handed Daniel's phone back to him. "How's Vin?"

"I'm not sure, I think he left as soon as he entered the suite. I'm not sure how though." Daniel scratched the back of his neck before he turned to find DG. "Sorry, I have someone to find."

The women nodded and Daniel started walking through the room. Where had he disappeared too?

Daniel caught a glimpse of pink and headed in that direction, oblivious to his surroundings. He bumped into multiple people without realizing but, this time someone stopped him.

Daniel recognized who it was from their appearance. Blonde hair and bangs covering his eyes.

"You're the guy from the diner," Daniel said confused. "What're you doing here?"

The stranger nodded his head before making gestures with his hands.

"What do you mean you were supposed to come here?"

The stranger lightly shoved his phone to Daniel's face. To his surprise, it was on DG's stream. What surprised him even more was  the challenge that was in the top left hand corner of the screen.

Get Daniel to go the party and fight with Vin Jin.
