Chapter 8

20:21, 3 September 2022

Daniel didn't know how to feel. Now he knew why DG was saying those things. Why he was so persistent. It was just for his challenge.

Daniel felt unreasonably hurt. He shouldn't, he hadn't known DG for more than a day. He had no right.

But, it still hurt. More than he was expecting. He wanted to cry but he knew it wouldn't do anything. His tears would be meaningless to the eyes of DG. But, Daniel knew, he started this whole thing for the sake of his mother and it would stay that way.

"Ha," was all that Daniel managed to mutter. He pushed past the blonde and was faced with the unreadable expression of a pink haired male. For a moment, his poker face seemed apologetic. But it went as quickly as it came.

"There you are," DG said nonchalantly. "I was worried about you."

Daniel knew that was a lie. He averted his gaze "Sure."

It was quiet between them, no longer a comfortable atmosphere. Daniel looked back up at DG to see him staring behind him.

Daniel turned around to see the blonde from earlier still there with an uncomfortable look on his face.

"Jay Hong," DG muttered.

Daniel looked between the two. Did they know each other? Daniel kept his gaze on the blonde who he now knew was Jay and saw his lips twist in something that could only be described as uncomfortable recognition.

Daniel then turned to DG. For the first time that night Daniel saw DG's face hold surprise and stay there. It was like DG had seen a ghost. The color quickly drained from his face as he seemed to panic, backing away slowly, hoping the two wouldn't notice.

Daniel opened his mouth to voice his concerns but quickly closed it as DG disappeared into the crowd. Daniel had the urge to go after him but stopped himself as his phone went off.

Ditch the rest of the party with the blonde.Offer: 136,271 won. (100 USD)

Daniel sighed. Should he really just forget that these challenges ruined his night with a beautiful stranger?

He stared at his phone for a few minutes before nodding his head and blacking out his screen.

"Wanna get out of here?"

Daniel's jet black hair was whipped around by the wind as he gripped Jay's waist tightly. Central Seoul really was beautiful at night. The many lights from buildings and streetlights were comforting. Daniel couldn't help but smile at the world as they passed many cars and inviting buildings.

Jay slowed down by a traffic light as he neared the entrance to a highway. Then Daniel and Jay's phone went off at the same time. Jay chose to ignore it, he couldn't risk the light turning green while he was on his phone.

Daniel quickly released one of his arms as he dug in his pants pocket for his phone.

Get on the highway with Jay and get the speedometer past 209 kph (130 mph), while blindfolded.

Daniel shuddered. There was no way he was doing this. It risked his and Jay's safety and he couldn't be more against it. Even if the thought crossed his mind, he wouldn't know how Jay would make it work. He didn't have a blindfold and Jay's vision would obviously be impaired.

Then again Daniel wondered how Jay could see with his hair covering his eyes.

Daniel looked up at the traffic light, still red. Weird. Normally it would've turned green a while ago. Just then, a black van pulled up to them in the next lane over.

The tinted windows rolled down and revealed multiple people in the back. The interior was decorated with LEDs and had a blue underglow that illuminated the ground.

The passengers that resided within the vehicle were wearing masks that covered everything but their eyes. The designs on the masks varied.

Everyone but the driver shoved their phones out of the windows and forced Jay to look at the screens. Jay seemed to stare for a while before nodding his head.

The passengers cheered and pulled out a sticker that, what Daniel assumed, was on the floor and handed it to him. Daniel started to freak out.

The sticker was intended to cover the reflective shield on Jay's black helmet. The sticker had bold letters stating "FUCK LIVING!"

Daniel's nervousness only grew more when Jay reached for the extra helmet he had strapped to the middle of his bike and handed it to Daniel.

Jay took the sticker from him and placed it on the reflective shield before flicking it upwards. He looked towards the van and nodded.

"I wanna get off! I don't care if I'm stranded, I'm not risking my life like this!"

Daniel was about to remove his body from the bike but, something told him not to. Jay seemed to try talking to him.

"Yeah, I'm aware this isn't a one man job, I'm not about to be the other person in this situation!"

Daniel sighed as tears filled his eyes. He really didn't want to do this but, who else would just swap places with him for something like this?

"Fine!" Daniel fastened his arms around Jay's waist once more as Jay fastened his phone to a selfie stick and slipped it into Daniel's grip. He gave Daniel's hands a reassuring sqeeze and flicked his shield back down.

"What do you mean guide you? I don't know how!"

Daniel glance at the phone in his grip and saw the Game on full display. The multicolored hearts and donations came in quickly as the tension rises; minutes feel like seconds as Daniel tries to compose himself.

He watched his surroundings carefully as the light turned green. He shut his eyes tight and yelled.

"Drive!"
