understanding

Clarissa stayed with her mother the rest of the day although not much more talking was done. When the chief entered Olivia's office she figured it was to reprimand her about something else she or the squad had done to pass off 1PP so she asked amanda to take Clarissa to get a snack.

Amanda decided to take Clarissa to the diner across the street and said "ok babydoll how about a burger and fries for a little early dinner? I'm sure your mama won't mind."

Clarissa nodded then followed her to a table and hesitated in asking a question. "Aunt amanda?"

"Yes babydoll?" She replied affectionately using  the nickname amanda had given her since birth.

"Mama said you and my uncles saved her when my....William raped her. Is that true?" She asked still trying to process and understand everything.

Amanda was a little thrown by the question. She hadt realized that olivia had spoken to her about that yet. "Um...sort of...mostly though your mama saved herself. We just got her help from doctors when she needed it."

"Did he hurt my mama really bad?" Clarissa asked picking at her food a bit while looking down at it.

Amanda bit her lip unsure just how much olivia had told her. "You know babydoll....I think that is a story your mama will tell you more about when your a little older." She said avoiding the question a bit.

Clarissa nodded and took a slow bite of her burger and then said "was she happy when she found out she was pregnant with me?"

Amanda half smiled "you know at first she was scared. She wasn't sure she would be a good mama but when she seen pictures of you in her tummy for the first time she smiled bigger than I've ever seen her smile and that was because she knew she had you to be a part of her life from then on." Amanda said honestly although leaving out a few details. "But you know one thing I know for absolute certain is you and your brother are the best gifts she has ever gotten." She said and tickled her neck a little bit causing Clarissa to giggle out loud. The two then sat finishing thier meal.

Clarissa held tight to Amanda's hand as they headed back to the precinct where they passed the chief as they were exiting the elevator. Clarissa whispered "He always looks grumpy."

Amanda let out a small laugh. "He does doesn't he babydoll?"

Clarissa ran back to her mothers office. Olivia now looked a little stressed but hid it as she seen Clarissa come in. "Hey my love. So where did you disappear to?"

"Aunt manda got me a burger and fries for dinner." She giggled hugging her mother.

"Aunt amanda always spoils you." She laughed lightly.

"Ready to go home mama?" Clarissa asked.

"Actually my love I just found out I have to work late." She started and heard Clarissa groan and pout. "But listen Aunt amanda is going to take you home and Lucy will stay with you and noah until I can get home ok?"

Clarissa sighed. "Yes mama."

Olivia kissed her daughters head "I'm so sorry my love. I'll see you in the morning ok?"

Clarissa nodded and left once again with amanda.
