Chapter 22- Guardians
04:35, 2 February 2025The annoying feeling of rope wrapped around my wrists was the first thing I noticed. Because, Peter's first idea was to hit me in the head. So, here I am. Near the back of their ship, with the group staring at me.
"Who the hell are you?" Rocket asked again.
"Abigail Stark." I answer.
"Why does Stark sound familiar?" I hear Peter ask himself.
I shrug, "Because, Peter, you're originally from Earth. I'm sure your familiar with the Stark family."
You can see the lightbulb go off in his head, "Yeah! Those billionaires!"
I nod my head, "Tony Stark is my father."
Rocket smiles, "Here's a great idea, if her father's a billionaire, why not get ransom?"
I snort, "I got a team of superheroes back home who would kill you for that."
Rocket raises an eyebrow, "Superheroes?"
I purse my lips, "Yeah. Iron Man. Ant Man. Spider-Man. Captain America. Hawkeye. Black Widow. Doctor Strange. Hulk. Thor. Manipulator."
Gamora snorts, "What kind of superhero name is Manipulator?"
I scowl, "Mine, thank you very much."
Rocket crosses his arms, "So what? You got superpowers?"
"Actually, I do." I snap my fingers and get rid of the ropes, standing up, "What we really need to do is talk about Thanos."
"I am Groot."
Rocket looks at him, "How were we supposed to know she could do that?"
"I am Groot."
Rocket rolls his eyes, "Well, it is Peter's fault after all. He did knock her out."
I clap my hands, "Rocket, Groot, back to Thanos."
Rocket snarls, "How do you know our names?"
I bite my lips, "Because I know you."
Gamora glares at me, "How do you know our names?"
I gulp, "You are the Guardians of the Galaxy. Of course I know you."
Peter steps closer, "But Earth is oblivious to Aliens. So, try again."
"Fine," I huff, "I'm from another universe. Or, you could say an Earth where this universe is a TV Series."
"Okay, and?" Gamora asks.
I smile, "The Guardians of the Galaxy is a very popular movie on my Earth."
"So, how did you get here? To this universe?" Rocket asks.
I frown, "Did you forget the whole, 'I have powers' ideal, or what?"
"So you can go from universe to universe without any help?" Rocket asks, intrigued.
I sigh, "No, I can't. It's a hard power to control. I once got stuck in 2 different universes trying to get back to this specific one."
"Why would you wanna go back here?" Rocket scans me, confused.
I straighten my posture, "Because I have a job here. Once it's done, I have jobs in other universes. Other universes to save. Or, more specifically, certain deaths I'm trying to avoid in those universes."
Rocket looks shocked, "So, you can also time travel?"
I shrug, "It's another advantage of my powers. I believe I could teleport if I learned control over my powers, but, as I said, these powers are one of a kind. At least, in this universe."
Gamora scans me too, "Where'd you get your powers?"
I smile sadly, "The multiverse travelling power I was born with. The others were, well, some could say given to me in a very not fun way."
Peter looks confused, "What is the multiverse?"
I roll my eyes, "It's the theory of multiple universes. I'm sure even Drax could understand."
"Hey!" Drax exclaims, "I am not as stupid as Peter Quill."
I chuckle, "Well, this was fun, but back to Thanos."
Gamora crosses her arms, "What about him?"
"I need to find him." I answer.
"Why?" She asks.
"To kill him." I reply with venom laced in my voice.
"And what makes you think we'll help you find him?"
"Because Thanos is the reason I need to save this Universe. He is, after all, the one who destroys it." I say.
Gamora looks shocked, "My father may be evil, but to do that? His goal is to eliminate half of the universe, not all of it."
I scoff, "You have no idea what he'd do, or who he'd kill to do it. You know why I hate him so much, Gamora? Because he killed you. To get the soul stone, he had to sacrifice someone he loved. He only loves one person, and that is you. So, he pushed you off a cliff to get what he needed."
Gamora looks at me with disbelief, "You're lying."
My vision gets blurry, "You are so cool, Gamora. Your intentions are true. In a way, you seemed like a part of me. And when he killed you? It felt like a piece of me was gone forever. And the worst thing is that while everyone was brought back, you didn't come back. It was undoable. So, no. I'm not lying."
Peter looks pissed, "We'll help you."
I nod my head, "Good."
I walk back to the seat I had been tied to, accidentally replaying the image of Gamora dying over and over in my head. Gamora was me. She's like a sister from another mister and mother. She may not know it yet, but I do care for her. How I feel about her may not be mutual, but it doesn't matter.
I am going to kill the son of a bitch who ruined everything. Who was the cause for my father's, Natasha's, and Gamora's deaths. The most impactful deaths in Marvel history for me. At least, it no longer will be.
