Chapter 23- Snapped
04:36, 2 February 2025"Are you sure you found him?" I ask Rocket.
"Yeah," He says, "We got reports on him there."
"Well then," I nod my head, "Lets get there as fast as we can."
I sit down on a seat, happy that this can finally be over. I'm going to kill Thanos with the snap of my fingers, just like my father had done once before. Murdering Thanos seems to run in the family.
Thanos was on the planet Vlaxen. Never heard of it, so it probably wasn't an important planet. But, I do know that Thanos is probably getting ready to exterminate half of the population. But, it most definitely would take some time for him to round up that many people.
There were 2 billion people on Vlaxen, so he would need to kill 1 billion. And trust me, that would take a long time to get them.
Vlaxanians are colored red. Some of them have the ability to harness electricity through their veins, but most of them are normal. What I would assume is that Thanos is going to try and kill the ones with powers so there will be no retaliation.
My knee bumped up and down as we flew through space. I'm about to kill Thanos. It won't be painful, but I still feel bad about it. But, he's a mass murderer. Committed more than genocide. On Earth, that's the death sentence.
And besides, Thanos dies anyways, right? I'm just doing it before he can do any damage. But how to kill him, that's the question. I feel like disintegrating his whole body would be too much on my powers. Thanos always said go for the head, right? I'll just get rid of his head.
I feel the ship stop and land underneath my feet. I look through the big window. The sight is terrible. Thanos is sitting in the middle of a gazebo, on top of a makeshift throne. He's staring down at the people below, who are getting separated, with a wicked grin on his face.
Thanos' army is holding some people back, while raiding the people. So, I do what my instincts tell me to do. I snap my fingers and remove their heads from their bodies. Thanos' grin is turned upside down when they flop to the floor.
I step out of the ship and make my way to Thanos, "Thanos! This needs to end."
He gets off his throne, "I'd be correct to assume you did this?"
I nod my head and smile, "I get why you want to do this. You want to make the universe a better place for it's inhabitants. But, this is not the way."
He's 20 feet away now, "And how else would I do it?"
I shrug, "There is no way to do it, really. No matter what you do, everything is always going to end up the way it was before."
15 feet, "I'm giving people a chance at life! A new beginning."
I shake my head, "What you're doing is eliminating people's will to live. I mean, when you lose half of the people you know as a friend, and half of your family, there is no longer a point. What you're doing will make the universe worse."
10 feet, "No, I'm making the universe better."
"Thanos," I warn, "If you do this I'll have to kill you."
"But can you?" He asks, "Can you kill me?"
I smile sadly, "Yes, but I don't want to."
"Why?"
I frown, "No normal almost-17-year-old girl would want to kill someone. No normal human, alien, god, or anything, would want to kill someone."
"Well then," He grabs my neck, "Your choice."
Tears slip down my face, "I- I do-on't want-t t-to do th-this."
"Your. Choice."
"F-Fine th-then." I snap my fingers and he falls to the ground, "I'm sorry."
I walk back into the ship, "To Earth please."
I sit down and calm down. I gained the powers I used. But, my most natural one I have, I can't even use. Maybe I should stop being afraid of it. I've had it all my life. I should embrace it. It's the one natural thing I have. The thing that makes me basically royalty. I. Am. An. Asgardian.
Something seems to get brighter, and I look around to see what it is. And then I catch it. I'm the one glowing. It highlights my veins, but the small glow also goes through my pores. But, 15 seconds after is started, it's over.
"What just happened?" Asked Peter, in a daze.
I smile, "I embraced it."
"Embraced what?" Gamora asks.
"My Asgardian powers." I think of an idea, "Wait. Stop the ship. I wanna try something."
The ship stops and I focus on my room back home. And when I open my eyes, I'm there. I'm home. I close my eyes again, and I'm on Asgard. In the palace. I run to Thor.
When I make it to him, he looks confused, "What are you doing here?"
"I- I need," I take a breath, "I need the Tesseract."
"Why?"
I smile giddily, "I embraced my Asgardian heritage. Turns out, that's what I needed to do to learn to control my powers. I could take the stone to another universe, one where no one can harness the power."
"But what about Thanos?" He asks.
I frown, "He's dead. I killed him."
He looks at me with pity, "Are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah." I assure him, "I'm fine. I guess I just feel a little bad. I feel as if I could've changed him. But I failed."
He pulls me into a hug, "I'm sure you did what you could."
I pull out of the hug, emotions aside, "Well? Where's the tesseract?"
He grimaces, "Here. On Asgard."
I slap him, "No offense, but Thanos could have gotten to it!"
He nods his head, "Yes, but we do have our most powerful soldiers guarding it."
I sigh, "Take me to it."
