16:30, 24 September 2025Murphy stood stiff for a moment, processing what was happening, before a smirk formed as he pulled Sophia closer, returning the kiss.
"Damn, didn't realize you missed me that much, princess." He teased when Sophia quickly pulled away, covering her mouth with her hand.
"You-- Shut up! I don't know why I did that." She mumbled. Though she had a bit of an idea. As far as she knew, Murphy was dead. Seeing him alive, in front of her, she got overwhelmed with emotions and didn't know how to react.
"Mind telling us where the mountain men took you?" Bellamy questioned after clearing his throat awkwardly.
"Mount Weather." Sophia frowned, looking at Bellamy. "Something felt really off about that place, too, Bell. When I escaped, they shot me with a tracker--" she noted Bellamy and Marcus move away from her. "I took it out back at the dropship before coming here."
"They could still find us. If they go to the dropship site, if they see the note, you've just put us all at risk!" Kane scolded.
"Yeah, well I didn't exactly see the note when I first got there. Besides, I came here so we could all infiltrate Mount Weather and get our people back! I don't trust that place. They're holding our people captive and they don't even realize it!" Sophia snapped back.
Kane let out an exhausted sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Take Sophia to see Abby. Make sure her leg isn't infected. Bellamy, you and Finn go look for the tracker at the dropship site. Take it as far away from here as possible and destroy it."
"But Clarke-" "Will be found. She may very well be at Mount Weather, too." Kane cut Finn off.
Sophia frowned. She was about to tell Finn that she did, in fact, briefly see Clarke, alive in Mount Weather, when Murphy gently nudged her side, grabbing her arm.
"You got the worst luck with that leg, don't you, Princess?" Murphy questioned as he helped Sophia to the medical facility, noting how she limped slightly on her left leg.
"1st, quit calling me that. 2nd, yeah, I guess you're onto something. Knowing my luck, I'll probably end up losing it one of these days." Sophia looked down at her leg.
"Well then, maybe I won't be the only one limping around camp." Sophia looked up to see Raven limping over. Sophia felt Murphy shift awkwardly next to Sophia as he looked away guiltily, knowing it was his fault Raven was like this now.
Sophia gave Raven a tight hug, her chin resting on the other girl's shoulder. "It's good to see you again, Raven." She mumbled. "You too, are the others..." "Still in Mount Weather. The grounders may be onto something about that place."
"What do you think the grounders were protecting us or something from that place? They got a weird ass way of showing it if that's the case." Murphy huffed.
"I don't know what I think about the grounders, Murphy. But I do think they know something about the mountain men that we don't know." She mumbled as they got to Abby.
Sophia sat quietly as Abby looked after her leg. She winced slightly when the older woman started stitching her leg.
"My daughter...did you see her when you were in Mount Weather?" Sophia looked down where Abby was kneeling before nodding briefly. "It was only a split moment, but as of before I left, she's still alive. For all I know, she might have plotted an escape for herself and could be on her way." She said, watching Abby get up with a nod.
"Your leg should be fine after a couple of days. Take it easy in the meantime. No unnecessary movements." Abby said as she left to check on other patients. Sophia sighed softly as she started to push herself off the table.
"I could be wrong, but did the doctor not just say no unnecessary movements?" "Jesus-- fucking- Murphy!" Sophia scolded, glaring at him before looking at him in confusion when he walked up to her, turning around a kneeling as if offering a piggyback ride.
"What are you doing?" Sophia questioned skeptically, making Murphy roll his eyes. "Just get on before I change my mind." He tapped her leg. Sophia squinted, still skeptical, before hooking her legs around Murphy's waist, her arms holding his shoulders. "You realize how stupid this is, right? Especially considering it's us."
"Yeah, yeah, I got it. Just shut up and be grateful." Murphy said as he carefully got up, reaching behind him to hold Sophia's thighs as he started walking out of medical, through the halls of what was left of the ARK.
"Why are you being helpful?" Sophia questioned. "Would you rather me drop you on your ass?" Murphy questioned back. "No..." "Then quit asking."
The pair eventually gets to the one empty room in the ARK. "All the other rooms are taken. We're sharing."
"Of course, cuz let me guess, the few that didn't get to Mount Weather still don't trust you because of everything you did, and by extension, they still don't trust me?" Sophia questioned. "The kiss didn't really help." Murphy pointed out, making her face heat up.
"That didn't mean anything! It was an accident." Sophia insisted though she couldn't deny the pang of pain that shot through her when she said that.
"Right..." Murphy muttered that the same pain went through him. An unspoken want for the kiss to mean something washed over them both.
"You didn't really think I died, did you?" He questioned after a long moment of silence. Sophia shrugged, looking away. "You weren't at Mount Weather. The guards said they looked for any other survivors. They told me you died..." Sophia wasn't sure why, but she started to get emotional. Her vision was blurring as a few tears slid down her face.
Murphy seemed shocked. Sure, he remembered times on the ARK where Sophia got emotional. Hell, he remembered when Jasper was at death's door, how emotional she was. But this was the first time she was emotional over him, at least that HE'S seen.
"You--" Murphy sat down next to Sophia. "You know it's impossible to kill me, right? We're cockroaches. Nothing's going to kill us. Even if there's some fiery explosion in a desert or something, we're survivors. We're the ones who are going to outlive everyone here because we're too stubborn to die." Murphy said, trying to comfort her. It was an awkward attempt, but the message seemed to get across. Sophia let out a weak laugh as she leaned against Murphy.
"Murphy?" Sophia lifted her head. "Yeah?" She hesitated when Murphy looked at her. "I...thanks...for...being here..." she said awkwardly, looking away in embarrassment.
"Right- yeah...no...of course. Yeah...you're welcome." Murphy mentally cursed himself for fumbling over his own words as the two sat on the bed that Sophia had claimed as hers. An awkward tension in the air now between the pair that once taunted each other when they first got back to earth.
