Chapter 7

12:42, 25 March 2023

Taehyung hit the ball so hard and flew really far until it hit the sand but not so close to a hole. He's playing golf with Jungkook, at least he thinks it's his turn to drag Jungkook to something he likes, golfing. So right now Taehyung and Jungkook are currently playing at Liberty National Golf Course.

"It's been two months, huh?" Jungkook asked while watching Taehyung do a square off. Taehyung still focuses on hitting the ball free from the sand. He finally got it out.

"Yeah, but I stop for a moment, I think this time I will take a visit to her office. Just make a friendly visit first, she knows i like her so i won't put any stunt or excuse like 'because we're friends' thing, i want to let her see i do want to take this thing slow and steady--"

Taehyung froze when he turned around to Jungkook but there's no sign of him, instead there's a girl dressed up with white pleated golf skirt and navy polo long sleeve shirt. Her hair tied up with white visors. It's Jennie with her golf stick and a glove.

"Why don't you visit me all this time?" Jennie teases him with a smile. "Uh." Taehyung stuttered, he couldn't speak properly or even speak any words. He couldn't believe his own eyes looking at Jennie right now. Jennie with a smile, it's rare she gives it to him.

"Hi." Jennie put on a sweet smile and giggled a little while witnessing Taehyung statue like that.

He still holds his golf stick from hitting position so his body is still a little bent over. He stands straight right away and tidy up his clothes, he clears his throat to start talking. "Uhm, hi, where's Jungkook?" Taehyung asked.

"I order him to leave." Jennie is still smiling at him, she can watch his reaction like this all day, it's too cute. "Uh, why?" Taehyung is still confused.

"Because he's scared of me? so he's going to do everything I said." Jennie smiles proudly, Taehyung chuckles at her statement. He is indeed scared of Jennie, Jungkook confessed to him recently and he just laughed because this guy was such a child.

"Yeah, he told me yesterday." Taehyung put his golf stick in his golf bag behind the golf cart. "So, what are you doing here, Jennie?" Taehyung put his hand on his waist while leaning on golf cart.

"Actually, I was thinking we could take a ferry to view New York scenery from there, are you in?" Jennie asks. Taehyung is confused, what is up with Jennie? Is this what Jungkook talked about two months ago? Someday Taehyung will lure Jennie to come back to him and it apparently works.

Taehyung is still confused by the sudden invite but he's stupid if he declines the most beautiful girl he's been chasing.

"Of course, hop in." Taehyung pointed to his golf cart to exit the golf course to go to the pier. His hands got cold sweat because he's literally nervous, Jennie being nice to him it's scary. When he took a glance at her, he just saw Jennie casually sitting beside him viewing the golf course. It's a quiet and nervous ride he's ever been to.

They both hop into the ferry, they sit on a deck while looking at a sunset. It took them half an hour to hop in to get a sunset view in New York. Taehyung, still lost in his thoughts, figures out what's this about, should he ask right now. It's too romantic a situation when he's about to ask something that can be related to another fall down. She could get here just to say stop bothering her with flowers and it would flip him out, maybe he can just jump into the water and try not to swim until he faint. There's so many scary thoughts in his mind right now.

"Taehyung?" He jumps out, so she's going with a first name basis? Taehyung faces her while they're sitting on a deck. "Yes?" Jennie contemplates saying something, she doesn't want to say no but she still is not ready to say yes either.

"Thank you for all the blue roses... and a hyacinth, it's so beautiful I could die from drowning in them in my office. It's like I'm working in a garden." Jennie started the conversation with his first gift two months ago.

Taehyung touches his neck nervously and smiles so awkwardly, he is completely shy. "Oh, you're welcome. I think you deserve it. For someone who gets out of their comfort zone to go back where they belong, it's completely brave, you're worth all the flowers, Jennie."

"Taehyung." Jennie hummed his name again. "I'm not mad at you anymore." Jennie continued. "Thank you, I know I was a jerk. I mean, you're beautiful and I like you. maybe i am an asshole when we're in office but it's only because i need to keep my integrity at my office." Jennie chuckles at his confession.

He clearly doesn't understand why she suddenly smiles but he likes it and she's beautiful when she smiles. "What?" Jennie shook her head and sighed. "You're so cute when you're blabbering. I can't believe I saw Mr. Kim sulking because of a woman. I bet your employees would cringe if they saw you like this." Taehyung scratches the back of his neck, he is kinda nervous and shy but mostly nervous.

Jennie clears her throat and speaks again. "Taehyung, I don't want us to avoid things or to move forward. It's scary"

Taehyung is still oblivious to what she's saying, he doesn't know where it leads to. "So? what do you want?" He asked.

"Let the faith decide, but starting from now, I'm not gonna run away. I'm willing to go with everything slowly and steadily." Taehyung widens his eyes, it's what he was supposed to say back in a golf course to Jungkook but instead Jennie heard it.

"Okay." Taehyung replied. With that, they both enjoy their ride on the ferry looking at city lights.

...

Jennie walks to her office and finds another flower but it's different. It's much more like a mixed bouquet of flowers. When she sees the card it turns out to be from Yoongi.

'Congratulation for your brand new Law Firm, Ms. Jennie Ruby Jane Kim. Let you conquer the court again.'

Sincerely, Yoongi Min

Jennie smiles while staring at the card, she's glad Yoongi and her start to be friends again. She was expecting him to disappear after their discussion a month ago but seeing this maybe Yoongi overcame the bad news. She decided maybe Lisa, Yoongi and her can hang out together like they're used to so she called Yoongi.

"Hey, did you get the flowers?" Yoongi knows why Jennie calls him so she just chuckles at his words. "Of course, thank you. and i'm sorry i didn't tell you i quit, it's just sudden feelings for the part of moving on from everything." Jennie explained.

"No, no, I understand. i'm glad we're fine and although it's hard for me not to forget because the idea of having him it's beautiful of course, but the part when i got no chance a slightest it's hard." Yoongi confessed.

Jennie feels guilty for not telling him sooner but what is done is done, she couldn't say sorry to him every time they meet or talk about it, it's not healthy. Right now, they can only remember him without feeling guilty and think it's an accident, they both not knowing it.

"Anyway, since we're good, how about we hang out with Lisa? you know she wants to make it up to you since she didn't tell you everything back then she's always pestering you with her story, she's still complaining to me about you sometimes ditching her if she wants to hang out with you." Jennie reminds him, Lisa it's like their little sister sometimes like their child because of her childish actions when she's not getting anything she wants from them and they're nagging at her until she becomes upset like a child.

"Hm, I know, I've been treating her like a coworker all this time. Sometimes I can see her pouting while working with me." Yoongi chuckles but it only makes Jennie sound mad because Yoongi can be that cruel.

"YOONGI! you cannot do that to her!" Yoongi only laughed louder, "Okay, I'm sorry,I made it up to her. How about tonight? we're having dinner at an Italian restaurant she likes?" Yoongi suggested.

"That sounds good, but you're the one who's going to tell her, okay?" Jennie replied. Yoongi just hums and they end the call.

.

Yoongi knocks Lisa's office and Lisa turns her head towards him and feels confused because Yoongi rarely comes to her office.

"Hey, what's up?" Lisa asked. Yoongi just leaned on her door to make a quick invite. "You want to have dinner with me? Jennie just asked to hang out together again, just the three of us." Lisa suddenly showed her wide smile.

"Of course!" Yoongi just chuckled. "Don't be such a jumpy kid, I'm trying to forgive you for not telling me about Jennie." Lisa pouted again and snorted.

"Ugh, okay!" She got back to focusing on her laptop.

.

Taehyung:

You're still working? I'm thinking of having lunch with you.

Jennie grinned while looking at his text. They're not a texty type of people, they just chat when they need something, invite each other, or something important. Truthfully, Taehyung is still scared to take a step to Jennie since they just make up and go with whatever they think it's comfortable, more likely Jennie's comfort. Taehyung of course wants more but his admiration for Jennie makes him follow her pace.

Jennie:

Can we have lunch at my office? I have to go to a meeting after lunch. I don't want to be late.

Taehyung:

Okay, be there in five.

Jennie arch her eyebrows. Five minutes? but their office is thirty minutes away. Suddenly there's a knock on her door and she is shocked. Taehyung really arrived after five minutes.

"Huh? How come?" Jennie tilted her head to him, Taehyung just chuckled looking at Jennie's reaction. "I was already at your building bringing lunch, i thought you won't leave the building and i was right." Taehyung pull up his paper bag full of food.

Taehyung is the sweetest at this moment for Jennie. She's so grateful for Taehyung to just take things slow, it's like he's courting her but in a friend's way. Jennie just thinks complicated ways to say it because she wants to be friends with him. She wants to know him personally before starting everything. But someday she can clearly see she said yes to him.

Jennie can find his sincerity and kindness when she flashbacks about her said to him this is not going to work, he was hurting and she could see his eyes were liking her so much. His eyes pleaded with her to take things slow and steady, his optimism that is going to work and his desire to be with her. Jennie can see he is just not a handsome guy who can lure every woman in New York but she can see too little by little his loyalty.

Taehyung trying to be with her in her deepest downfall can be evidence that he's serious. Maybe their inappropriate encounter was faith, he's maybe used to having sex with anyone but Jennie's personality makes him want to explore her more. Her badass could be his type and make him a purr kitty from being a fuck boy looking guy.

"I know, I'm handsome but don't turn into daydreaming so long about it." Taehyung sarcastically said to make Jennie widen her eyes and shake her head.

She clears her throat and sits properly. "What have you bought?" Taehyung let out a salad, grilled chicken with brown rice, and juice.

"I thought girls always want to be healthy in front of guys so i try to buy some healthy food." Taehyung said. Jennie furrows her eyebrows. "Well, I'm not some girl, I yelled at you when you're my boss. I need real food too."

Suddenly Taehyung let out a steak and a milkshake. "Okay if you say so." Taehyung said. Jennie chuckles at his sarcasm. "You choose." Taehyung smirks at her.

When can a handsome guy be this cute? Taehyung can already pass to be her longtime boyfriend from now on. So, Jennie just picks brown rice because she is so sure he wants a steak but they start a fight over who gets what.

Jennie grabs a plastic container of grilled chicken but Taehyung grabs her wrist to stop her and hands her a steak. Jennie pushes the steak but it turns out they just push and pull all the food.

"Okay, i'll take the steak but from now on just buy the same thing as you want, i don't diet." Jennie said.

"Noted." Taehyung replied.

They have a friendly lunch at Jennie's office. Jennie is so excited because Taehyung is literally a social butterfly.

After Jennie finished her lunch she excused herself to the bathroom, she saw entire employees eat from the same container as hers. When she asks where they got it, they say Taehyung bought it all for them as a warm welcome to work with her.

Jennie widens her eyes, Taehyung apparently not just focuses on her too but on everyone around her because Taehyung thinks her surroundings should support her in her new journey. He wants her staff to be welcome there and knows Jennie and her close ones are good people.

Jennie couldn't believe Taehyung could be this sweet, it's too much and she is grateful she gets to be close to Taehyung although she doesn't have a name for their condition right now, so she just sticks with 'friends' thing.

Taehyung waves her goodbye when he accompanies her to her meeting room. He cheered her up because this meeting involved Jennie's first big case. Taehyung suddenly hugged her tight and made Jennie startled.

"You can do it! I know you can. Just trust yourself, Jennie." He whispers to her and makes her shiver because of his deep voice. Jennie can feel the warmth she needs after their kisses in her old office, it's there again.

"Thank you, Tae. You're the best." Jennie smiles in his arms.

After work, Jennie goes straight to Lisa's favorite Italian restaurant, Osteria La Baia. When she arrived, Lisa and Yoongi were already there looking through the menu. "Hei, did you guys order it already?" Jennie sits and starts to ask.

"No, we're just got the menu. Here." Lisa hands her another menu. After some time they're ordering. Lisa stares at both of them awkwardly while waiting for the food. It's Lisa's first time to sit between them since the break up and all the baby things.

"So, Jen. How's the law firm?" Yoongi starts the conversation and makes Jenne startled by his sudden question. "That's fine, I just got a meeting from a big case, it's a fraud case." Jennie replied. "Oh, that's good though. You're back at the court in no time." Yoongi said.

Their conversation starts casual and fun. They're laughing over how Yoongi is mad at Lisa and they start to apologize to each other. Jennie looks at Yoongi and thinks she missed this. Yoongi was a source of her happiness too. He always entertained her with a sarcasm joke and his gummy smile. She just thinks if Kim Minho was born, he definitely got a gummy smile from his mom and dad.

Jennie feels odd, this time whenever she thinks about Minho she just smiles to herself without being hurt or sad. It's like Minho is finally her happy memory. Part of it may be because she reconciles with Yoongi and they're just fine right now.

Another part is Jennie was making a mistake with Taehyung and thinks she always ruins everything. But, Taehyung's eagerness makes her feel worth it and dare to reconcile too with him. It's like she realizes when she overcomes all of her troubles, she will find a light.

"By the way guys, I need your advice." Lisa suddenly speaks. They both turn their heads from their drinks to her and Lisa continue,

"So one of Jungkook's cousins will celebrate his birthday by going on a vacation to Aspen, Colorado with his big family that includes Jungkook. He wants me to go with him. I think it's too soon since we're only been dating for three months, don't you guys think the same?" Lisa asked.

Yoongi just hums not knowing the answer but Jennie starts to talk. "I think how long you guys date doesn't matter here because it's not about ready or not, it's about finding the moment. When you're in love you will want to be with your girlfriend as much as you can. This time he thinks his cousin's birthday could be his way to spend more time getting to know you and see what you or his family thinks about each other. i think it's a good thing" Jennie supports what Jungkook did for Lisa. Jungkook is just so moving forward but not in a scary way, it's just everything happens at the right time.

"I must say I agree with Jennie. Jungkook is a nice guy, when we're hanging out he is just so nice around guys too, i bet he'll be caring so much around you to let their family accept you." Yoongi added.

"Yes, you guys are right. He also says he wants to make me stay in New York for Christmas and New Year. I'm never spending my holiday in New York. I always run to the Hamptons or Montauk for peace but he asked me to accompany him to feel Christmas in New York. I said yes because it's endearing, he already planned many things to do for us." Lisa tells them.

"You're willing to spend the holiday here? Wow. You really hate the crowd in New York and all the traffic they're making, you must love him that much."Jennie and Lisa just chuckle. Somehow Lisa snapped her head like she remembered something.

"Hey by the way i remember, Taehyung's birthday is in december since Taehyun is his twin, i remind you if you want to do something for him it's on december 30th." Yoongi tilted his head, confused why Lisa suddenly talked about Jennie's former boss.

What is his business with her? Meanwhile Jennie widens her eyes, she never tells Yoongi about Taehyung.

"Huh? what's up with him?" Yoongi starts to ask. Jennie gives her a sign to shut up by gritting her teeth and furrowing her eyebrows but it doesn't seem to work.

"Oh yes, Taehyung oppa chased Jennie unnie so long, it drives Jungkook crazy because Taehyung oppa is always whining at him why Jennie unnie never wants to say yes to him." Lisa nonchalantly says, still drinking her wine.

Lisa completely forgot Yoongi is also friends with Jungkook and Taehyung, she also didn't know Taehyung told him a story about the girl he's chasing.

Yoongi starts to connect the dots.

'Taehyung chased Jennie? But Taehyung already has someone that broke his heart? So the girl is Jennie? What? Jennie was the one who gave Taehyung a blowjob when she's drunk?' Yoongi widens his eyes and starts fuming in anger.

He stands up and makes Lisa and Jennie startled by his action. "I need to go, see you later" Yoongi in a hurry  exits the restaurant going somewhere.

"Yoongi, wait!" Jennie yelled a little but it didn't budge him to still walking out. "I'm sorry unnie, i forgot you didn't tell him yet." Lisa smiles awkwardly. "That's okay but it's odd, why should he be mad like that? He said we're both fine and can do whatever we want." Jennie said. Jennie didn't know Yoongi had been hanging out with Taehyung because of Jungkook so Lisa told her.

"Unnie, they've been friends for some time now." It only makes Jennie shocked.

"They did? oh my god." Jennie facepalm. "Hey, but it's still wrong because he said you guys are fine now. So what's the real big deal here?" Jennie agrees with Lisa because it is still odd to be mad like that, it's like he still loves her secretly.

.

Taehyung just finished his dinner at home and put the dishes in the washing machine. He heard a doorbell so he stood up from it and walked to the door. When he opens the door suddenly Yoongi punches him in the face and makes him fall to the ground. Taehyung groans and touches his nose, it's bleeding. When he tries to stand up, Yoongi grabs his collar and pushes him to the wall.

"What the hell was that, dude?! What's your problem?!" Taehyung is angry while covering his nose with his palm, it's completely hurt and he's just scared it'll be broken.

"The girl you were talking about is Jennie?! How could you use her like that?!" Yoongi screamed at his face, Taehyung realized he knew about it but he didn't know how. Taehyung pushes Yoongi away from him and stands up straight with blood running through his nose.

"SO WHAT?" Taehyung challenges him.

"I AM HIS EX!" Yoongi screams back but it doesn't surprise Taehyung at all.

"I know! she told me when we're meeting at my bar that day." Yoongi got more angry and took another punch to his cheeks.

"You bastard! you knew and you made a fool of me by listening to your disgusting story!" Yoongi sits on Taehyung who lies on the floor because of his second punch and Yoongi starts to punch him again but Taehyung grips both of his wrists.

"You only her ex! You should move on dude!" Taehyung screams at him. "It's not about that!" Yoongi said but it only made Taehyung confused. Yoongi cannot tell the real reason.

Yoongi feels it's inappropriate for Jennie when she just lost their baby. It's not healthy to be sexually active again and roaming around with random guys when she just got into a big trauma of her life. Yoongi doesn't know Jennie already felt those feelings but she already overcomes them immediately.

Part of it was because Taehyung's bravery and her quitting her job kind of made her forget and focus on her new challenge. Even if her faith with Taehyung didn't seem right, it changes her to let mistakes come and go because that's how life will always work.

Meanwhile Taehyung still thinks Yoongi is just being a jerk ex-boyfriend who can't move on or a selfish ex who doesn't want to see his ex find another guy until he gets a new one. "Huh? You know you're just being a jerk right now, let your selfishness eat you to let Jennie not be with another guy?" Yoongi, still angry, said," How could Taehyung say that to him? " They fight all over again but most of the time Taehyung takes all his punches because he just wants to be a good guy. He only takes one to two punches and pushes Yoongi so far until he slides to the hallway.

"ENOUGH! it's your problem you're not accepting this! it's not mine nor Jennie, we're good now and we're happy! Thanks to Jungkook, I found a way to make her let me be in her life! deal with your feelings on your own! it's my home and you're just trespassing it." Taehyung leaves Yoongi lying down in front of his entrance door.

He goes to his bedroom and sits on the edge of the bed. He's looking down to take a breath to try to ease the pain all over his face. Yoongi stood up and he only got a bruise on the corner of his eyes and his lips. He is so mad but to think what Taehyung told him makes sense too, he's no one and just a friend to Jennie. But he still cares for her to not let anyone use her just like that. Jennie deserves a normal life after everything happens. Yoongi opened the door and left.

.

Jennie hums while browsing the cake. Jennie and Lisa are in a dessert place to buy some cakes to take out. "Excuse me, I think I'll take this matcha mille crepes and strawberry shortcake." Jennie points to her choices. "And can you put it in a separate paper bag? I want to give it to someone." The employee nods and walks to bring a paper bag. Lisa arch her eyebrows. "Separate paper bags? for whom?"

"It's for Taehyung, today he bought me and the entire employees on my floor a lunch, so I thought because it's past eight he already had his dinner. At least I gave him a cake as a thank you." Jennie explained. "Wow, he doesn't need a cake to be a dessert, he can have you as one." Lisa smirks at her and makes Jennie roll her eyes.

"Shut up! we're not doing it at all, it's over. we're starting to be friends to let us know if we're right or not for each other." Jennie said.

Jennie stands in front of his door. She's so nervous because it's her first time visiting his apartment. When she was going to forgive Taehyung last week, she asked Jungkook where he lived so she already knew it but she was not going there because after that Jungkook asked for what and he just said Taehyung was at a golf course with him.

Jennie rings his door bells. After a good minute he opened the door. "I told you to get lost! i don't need you--" Taehyung was shocked to see Jennie on his front door.

Meanwhile Jennie is more shocked to see Taehyung's battered face. She's covering her mouth with her palms.

"Jennie? What are you doing here?" Taehyung looked down and covered his face with his hand.

"Jennie, just go home. it's not a good time, i see you tomorrow--" Jennie suddenly pushed him to his apartment so they're both going in.

"Taehyung, what happened to you? Who did this?" Jennie holds both of his shoulders.

Taehyung is still looking down, he doesn't want Jennie to see his face like this.

"You don't want to know, Jennie. Please, just go" Taehyung pushed her hands away and turned around but Jennie just followed him and put the cake on a table nearby.

"NO! you have to treat your wounds! you don't have to say anything, just let me do it!" Jennie follows him to his bedroom but he still doesn't listen. When they both reach his bedroom Jennie suddenly grabs his hand to sit on a bed.

Jennie pulls up his chin with her finger to meet her gaze so she can examine his wounds. "Let me treat you, okay? please? it's not fine Taehyung." Taehyung just stares blankly at her, he can't talk or think anything.

Jennie walks to his bathroom to find a medicine box or something to treat his wounds. She's looking through all the cabinets and finally finds the box. She hurriedly walked back to him and sat beside him. Taehyung looked down again so Jennie pulled his chin up again. While she's treating his wounds, Taehyung starts to think, should he tell Jennie who did this? Did she still love Yoongi? If he tells her what side will she choose? He can't hold it anymore to see Jennie's sad face because his face literally knocked out.

"Jennie." Taehyung calls her and holds her wrist to stop what she is doing. Jennie just hummed. "I'll tell you who did this but promise me you won't go or do anything." Jennie is confused as to why she's going to do something. Is this involving her?

"It's Yoongi." Jennie froze.

She cannot think straight right now. Why did Yoongi do this? Is this because of what Lisa said? "Uh, what? huh? uhm, i--, what?" Jennie stutters while she's looking around nowhere.

"Is this because you both know I'm his ex? That's it! I'll call him!" Jennie is about to stand up to grab her phone to call Yoongi but Taehyung pulls her wrist back to sit on his bed again.

"It's not that, i'll tell you further but promise me you won't go." Taehyung is just so scared Jennie will be mad at him. Jennie worries to him about why he can be that scared to lose her because she just said to him last week, she's not going anywhere. Jennie just nodded.

"I think he knew about me and you before that Jungkook, Yoongi, and I were hanging out and I told him about the girl who made me sad all week last month. I tell him everything about you we're hiding on my desk, our encounters in my bar. I told him all that because I was so brokenhearted, I want to find an answer to get you back."

Jennie widens her eyes, and part of her feels embarrassed because right now Yoongi and Jungkook knew about her stupid act. And, Jennie feels guilty Taehyung can be that hurt .Lastly, she couldn't believe Taehyung told them about that, she's mad but she couldn't.

But Jennie thinks she understands why Yoongi is like that. It's about him and her again with Minho. He still can't believe the idea of her being with another guy when she just lost her baby. Maybe after this, he won't think the same of her anymore. Still, punching Taehyung instead facing her was a dick move.

She's the closest one to him instead of Taehyung, he should talk about it without being abruptly mad. He didn't know what she felt about all that yet he concluded Jennie was the one who's getting used by Taehyung.

"Let's just finish this first before we talk about that, okay?" Jennie said and she put a bandage to his face. Taehyung nods and stays still to let Jennie do her work.

After a while she's done treating his wounds, Jennie clears her throat and takes a deep breath. She suddenly hugged him and made Taehyung confused. What's going on?

"I wish I could tell you something but I can't. But i think what Yoongi did was absolutely wrong, he dared to punch you when in fact me and him just talked about how we can be friends. I'll talk to him later." Jennie releases her hug and cups his face. Jennie kisses his cheek.

Taehyung stares at her confused. He doesn't understand what part she should tell him but she couldn't.

Jennie needs to tell him about all of her past but she isn't ready yet because it's still hard to let anyone know about it. She hates if people see her completely differently after they know.

Taehyung doesn't have to know now because they are still not going anywhere. She thinks when the right time comes and they're both finally in a relationship, she finally tells him the truth. Part of her feels like running away but she thinks Taehyung doesn't deserve it, he knows nothing and he is just too precious to know everything.
