Chapter 2

13:57, 1 July 2015

Lauren was on the balcony of her house, smoking when she saw Camila walking out of the house. She watched as Camila hugged a tall boy with short brown hair. He was wearing a white tank top with beach shorts and flip flops. His hair was in a man bun while the sides were shaven. He had a nose piercing similar to Lauren's and several ear piercings, also similar to Lauren's. The moment the boy looked up and met Lauren's eyes, the girl almost fell over. He had light eyes, which looked green, but also looked blue, or grey. If Lauren didn't know any better, it was as if Camila was dating the male version of her.

So that was Carter Wesley Jr. or better known as Junior. He changed over the summer. Before, he was a scrawny kid and no one thought to give him another look but now, he was well built with lean muscles and when you look at him, you have to do a double take.

Lauren put out her cigarette bud as she made her way down. She walked towards the two and gave the boy a small, polite smile.

"Jauregui," the boy greeted.

"Junior," Lauren said back.

Carter chuckled as he draped his arm around Camila as he grinned at the green eyed girl.

"Let's go to the beach."

"We were just-"

"That sounds like a great idea," Camila said before she shot a glare at her best friend. Lauren gritted her teeth as she looked at the boy.

"The beach then."

Lauren cycled to the beach while Camila rode in Carter's convertible. Luckily, they went to a more public part of the beach, instead of their hideout. Lauren sat on the sand as she watched Camila and her boyfriend walk hand-in-hand on the beach. Lauren forced herself to look away as she took a sip of Coke. Suddenly, she saw a blur rushing at her and she felt a heavy weight collide with her body and she almost fell backwards. Lauren chuckled at the giggling brunette in front of her.

"Hi," Lauren said with a smile as she tapped Camila's nose. The younger girl scrunched her nose as she giggled. Camila leaned back and sat down in front of her.

"So, what do you think?"

"About what?"

"Carter, duh!"

Lauren saw how Camila was looking her. She saw how nervous the younger girl was.

"Does he make you happy?"

"I don't know... Maybe?"

"If he makes you happy, then I have no problem with him," Lauren said.

Camila smiled as she hugged her tightly. Lauren smiled as she hugged her back. Her smile faded when she saw a shadow covering them. Carter was approaching them.

"Can I have my girlfriend back?"

Lauren glared at him as Camila pulled away and said, "Relax Carter."

"C'mon baby. Let's go for a walk," Carter said.

"But I wanna stay here with Lauren," Camila said with a pout. Lauren felt her heart flutter as she blushed slightly.

"C'mon Karla."

Lauren frowned before looking at Camila. The green eyed girl raised her eyebrow and the brunette just gave her a shrug and a sheepish smile.

"Go," Lauren said.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I have to head home anyways," Lauren added.

Camila gave Lauren a sad smile. "Okay," she said as she kissed Lauren's cheek before she got up and took Carter's hand. Lauren watched as the two walked away, hand in hand. Lauren gritted her teeth because the moment they were alone, Carter's attention was on his phone while Camila was babbling away.

She didn't understand how he could ignore her like that. Lauren could literally listen to Camila ramble for hours and not get bored. It was one of the brunette's most endearing traits which made her oh-so-adorable. Even though the girl rambles a lot, she had a way with words that no matter how long you've known her or no matter how long you've talked to her, she'd always surprise you.

Lauren grabbed her backpack and cycled all the way back to her house. Everyone was out so she was alone, yet again. The moment the girl landed on her bed, she fell asleep instantly. She was rudely awakened by several knocks on her window.

Lauren groaned as she got out of bed and opened her window up. Camila stumbled into the room and giggled.

"Camz, it's 2 in the morning," Lauren said as she yawned.

"And you could've used the door," she added.

"Where's the fun in that?" the younger girl giggled, "And besides, I didn't want to wake your family up," she said.

"Why are you up so late anyways?"

"Could I crash here tonight? My parents aren't home until tomorrow afternoon," Camila said.

"Yeah, sure."

Lauren walked over to her closet and took out a pair of sweatpants and an old, faded band t-shirt and handed it to the young brunette. Camila thanked her as Lauren walked back to her closet to take out a spare pillow. She stopped when she saw Camila undressing through her mirror. Lauren felt her heart rate speed up and she forced herself to look away. She pulled the pillow out and shut the closet door. She stayed there for a while.

"You can turn around now."

Lauren turned and handed her the pillow. She avoided eye contact with her because even though the room was dimly lit, Lauren was sure that Camila could see the blush on the green eyed Latina's face.

"Thanks," Camila said as she took the pillow.

"No problem," Lauren said as she cleared her throat.

"You take the right and I'll take the left?"

Lauren nodded as the two got into bed. Camila leaned in and rested her head on Lauren's chest. Lauren felt her breath hitched when she heard Camila giggle.

"Your heart is beating really fast," she said.

"I hadn't noticed."

"Goodnight, Lolo."

"Goodnight, Camz," Lauren said as she pulled Camila closer and held her as the brunette drifted to sleep. Not long after, Lauren, too, drifted to sleep.
