Chapter 18

17:00, 4 December 2024

Estelle POV

Rogue has awakened, Storm has returned with her abilities restored and the world is into chaos. As I carry the cups of tea to the meeting hall I dread what's to come. Handing the cups of coffee and tea, I quickly leave, not wanting to hear a single word. And when it's over I wait outside the door. Soon I watch them go past me until I'm alone with Xavier.

My mind is shut, just in case, I don't open it for all anymore.

"It's nice to officially meet you, Professor."

He smiles, "And it's nice to meet you, Logan's future wife."

A title I have long forgotten in this chaos.

"Yes, that's me, but you can call me Estelle."

We talk for a while before going our separate ways, meeting with Logan I smile.

"Promise you'll come back to me."

He smiles, "I always will, without a scratch."

Kissing him gently, we part before I slip into the car. As the school fades away in the mirror, I fiddle with my necklace.

I space out for a majority of the drive before I eventually pull up to my home. As I walk to the front door, frees grow in my surroundings, hiding my home from the road. Opening the door, I take in a deep breath, brushing the dust on the furniture.

Power out, I light the fireplace before brewing a cup of tea. Watching the fire crackle, I cry silently feeling like a piece of me is about to be ripped away.

NO POV

A war takes place, a war between Sebastian and the X-Men, Xavier and Magneto. In Sebastian's failure and Sinister old, the technology bender vows to hurdle Magneto's meteor to Earth. To cause complete extinction.

With the power on, Estelle turns on the TV seeing the alert. The governments decide to knock it down, but it only makes things worse as it decedents quickly to the ground. In the end, the X-Men save the day, but in pushing it back to space, they vanish.

Gone from this fragment of time.

Estelle drops her cup, it shatters on the ground as she stares at the screen. Rushing outside to see the aftermath sprinkled across the night sky she cries out, "NO!"

Logan is gone.

They're gone.

This is only the beginning of Estelle's story.

The tragedy strengthened her powers, even in her state of grief.

Weeks go by of nothing.

Alone in her home, the lights are out and the blinds are drawn. The planets across the floor are...different. No longer what they were.

And now with a simple touch, they alter.

She has changed.

Breaking the limits that once bound her, breaking the binds that kept her weak. Information gathered, patterns seen, she began developing a mindset beyond herself. Estelle began to plan, to find ways to change the world.

She doesn't know if they'll ever come back. It's no secret that no X-Man stays dead. But what she does know is that the world they come back to will be different.

Days pass, and she soon finds herself on the edge of Genosha. After some trial and error with the spare jet under the school. Autopilot has truly become her best friend.

Walking through the streets, mutants stare at her, hope dawning in their eyes. Finding their leader, she opens her mind.

"I would like to speak in private, Emma Frost."

Looking at Estelle with her pricing blue eyes, the woman's head feels strained as Emma looks through the corners of her mind.

"Come with me."

Estelle POV

Walking with her we stand alone, I get straight to the point, "I want to make a difference."

She smirks, "Oh?"

"I know you and the council weren't fools, I know what you have under this island. I want to use it, take the skies."

Emma scoffs, "Magneto's done that. Twice actually, and it's both ended in failure."

I nod, "I know. I once limited myself, but no more. I plan to make a deal, in order for this to work I need your help. Please..."

Vulnerable before her, she strides to me. Looking down at her she nods, "Fine. When the deal is done. Come back to me, we'll get started."

I smile, "Thank you."

Turning around she speaks up, "Do you think they're dead?"

I stop, ringers brushing against the simple necklace, "No."

Then I'm gone, heading to the ship to set my next location. In darkened skies, I land beside a black palace. Stepping inside, I walk through the dimly lit lair. I sense him lurking in the shadows, "Sinister, I've come to make a deal."

He emerges from the shadows, "What do you want?"

I look at his weak, fragile form, body twisted and old. I frown, "I need a machine that can send out my mutant abilities to every person in the world."

His eyes widen, "What are you implying?"

I bend over, meeting his gaze, "I will turn this world upside down, but I need you to do it."

He growls, "And what do I get?"

"A mutant gene grocery store, for you to restore your body. To be better."

He ponders, smiling sinisterly he nods, "Very well."

Walking away, his old laugh rings throughout the room. Not an ounce of regret fills me as I walk away.

6 Months Later

"Everything is ready Estelle."

Looking at Emma I smile softly, "Perfect. I'm still surprised that old man was able to finish it."

She chuckles, "He may be ancient but he works fast, even as a bag of bones."

Looking at the coast I smile, "And Destiny, what did she say?"

Emma places a hand on her hip, "Everything will turn out nicely."

"Excellent."

Looking at the sky, I sigh, this is it. All the planning, nights of tears, and mornings of stress, to finally have this moment. If Logan were here, he wouldn't recognize me. If Logan were here, I would be happy, not chasing after a dream, not chasing after his shadow.

"Estelle."

I snap out of it, my mind going blank as I look at her. The worry is clear but I don't mind, "I'm okay. I'm okay."

Holding my hand, we look at the coastline, "Let's begin."
