"What are we gonna do, Brett?" Eddy asked as he broke down in the car, and Brett was quick to pull him into a hug. "It's just weeks, we won't have a cake and... and... God, I'm so sorry, I should have checked... I..."

"Shh, Eddy, we're gonna be fine, we're going to figure out a way to get a cake. We don't want to work with people like anyway, yeah?" Brett said soothingly, feeling Eddy shake in his arms.

Eddy shook his head against Brett's shoulder, a loud sob tearing through him."It's weeks away, everyone is probably full booked and... and..." Eddy cried, hiding his face in Brett's shirt. "God, I'm so sorry, Brett, I..."

Brett shut him up my kissing him firmly while wiping his tears with his thumb. When he pulled away, Eddy just looked at him with tearful eyes."We're gonna fix this, okay? It's for our big day. Of course it's gonna be fine. We'll make it work even if I have to bake the stupid cake myself, alright?"

Eddy nodded, trying to wipe his still running tears."I'm sorry anyway. I should have checked that, I..."

"Shh, Eddy, love, take a deep breath for me now, okay?" Brett said, taking his hand and squeezing it lightly. "I promise, we're gonna fix it. Let's head home, take a breather and then figure it out, okay?"

"What if we can't, though?" Eddy asked, still sounding hoarse from the crying and still with teary eyes. "We won't have a proper cake. What is even a wedding without the wedding cake? That's like the... the symbol of weddings? Like..."

"Eddy, babe, I love you and your worries are valid, but you are literally just rambling now. Take a deep breath with me now." He demonstratively took a deep breath and saw Eddy shakily follow his lead.

"Good, good. Good job, love. Now let's head home, okay? I'll make some... edible... dinner and I'll do some googling and make some phonecalls and we'll figure it out."

Eddy nodded quietly and slowly put his seatbelt on as Brett started the car."Of course it's gonna be fine, love. I'm just glad we haven't given that asshole any money," Brett commented as he pulled out of the parking space and headed home.

...

"Why are people so mean?" Eddy asked, head in his hands while Brett cooked dinner for them as promised. "Why do people hate me just because I love you, who just so happen to be a guy?"

Brett sighed. Eddy had repeated versions of this for hours, and he honestly had no idea himself. "I don't know, love, but we'll figure it out, yeah? It's just a greasy guy with a twisted opinion. We've had worse."

"Have we, though?" Eddy sighed, looking away. "It feels like I have ruined the wedding. Maybe we should postpone it?"

Btett froze for a moment, a million thoughts rushing through his head. Some included stuff the voice definitely would have said. He chose not to entertain those thoughts and instead picked something calmer.

"Don't be silly. It's just cake. I'm not waiting a minute extra to become mr Chen over some cake." He let what he was cooking sit on the stove while he went over to Eddy to hug him. "And if anyone ruined anything it's that asshole who ruined your happiness. Don't worry about it, we'll figure it out."

"Okay," Eddy sighed, watching Brett go back to the cooking. He wasn't really convinced.
