Oh....no?

Hiccup quickly introduced himself to the outher Cheifs, his entrance makeing them nervous and the fact that a night fury was standing right behind them. I managed to catch erets eye and motions him over. And with all four chiefs together and talking it wasn't that hard, as he approached I gently whisper to him." keep an eye on Cheif Khad, and his company. Something doesn't set right with me about them, dear."

" ok mom, I will, do you want me to mention it to Hiccup?"

" oh no, not yet at least not yet, we have no reason to"

He gives me a quick nod and valka and I excuse ourselves from the group and telling them that dinner will be served shortly in the great hall. I quickly make my leave and go into the dragon stables to visit nip, now nip is the baby dragon who seems to be terrified of everyone but me now that I've given him some time to acclimate to myself, today we were going to walk around the village together so he can get used to the village people and acclimate to being somewhere other then the dragon stables. Nip has gotten his name for his love of nipping at everyone and anything that gets close to him no matter how edible it is, besides my self that is. As I approach his cave he is waiting for me, I kept my hair down today so he can rest on my shoulders and still feel as though he is covered and protected safely.

As we make our way around the village he is doing wonderful, none of the villagers question why I have a hatchling on my shoulders because many of the villagers have taken to giveing me a nickname, alayah the dragon mother along with the dragon whisperer or speaker depending who you ask. They gave my dragon counterpart the same name and I find that hilarious. I had passed Cheif Unnus's daughters and gave them a nod and a hello as they passed they both looked amazed at how calm I was with nip in my shoulder, he was watching all the villagers and dragons around us still quite calm I could tell he was getting comfortable because he started to stand out more and halfway through the village started to walk next to me and around acting like a young dragon should. I was stopped by one of the villagers who had a question about the feast tonight. I didn't realize that nip had wonderd off untill I hear alarmed squeaking and his voice." MOTHER! HELP THE TWO LEGG IS CHASING ME I DINDNT DO IT!"

I turn quickly to see nip being chased by group of children from one of the outher villages, he runs under my skirt and I feel him cling to my leg. I face the children with my hands on my hips and a stern glare, the children skid to a stop in front of me. And I cross my arms expectantly." now what your names and why were you lot doing chaseing this hatchling? Hmm? Explain yourselves now"

I can see them all look at each outher before a young girl steps forward one of Cheif Annus's daughters." my name is Cheka Annus and these are my brothers Henry and Lukas, that dragon was going to take something from us so we chased him and tried to catch him, ma'am"

" oh really now? What did he try to take? Hmm was it food perhaps or something that shined? Young dragons don't care who owns what or what belong to who, you all should keep that in mind you lot, now what were you planning to do if you caught him?"

The girl puffs out her chest and speaks again the boys behind her letting her take charge.

" he was trying to take... My lucky knife! I tied it around my waist and he tried to grab it my crawling on me! And when we caught him we...were going-To bring him to Cheif haddock so he could tell him not to! He is the dragon rider anyways"

Looking at the girl I let out a hearty laugh clutching my stomach in the process.

" whew- aheheheh, I'm sorry dear but nip here wasn't trying to take your knife child, he was trying to climb onto your shoulders, he's a bit of a rascal and likes to climb onto anything, or bite them. And I'm sorry but Cheif haddock wouldn't be able to tell him what to do anyways, not even the alpha can control the little ones, now the dragon mother has some sort of influance over the little ones because she's a mother but in the end they decide what to do."

" well- well whose the dragon mother? I demand to speak with her right now!"

I grin and lift my skirt so nip comes out and picking him up I hold him in my arms,

" well your in luck child, because you already are. My names alayah but the villagers call me the dragon mother, or dragon speaker depending who ya ask"

With a smile I watch as the boys go wide eyed and the girls face gets red before she stomps her foot and marches away the boys following shortly after. Noticing that the great hall feast is happening soon I ask nip if he would like to join me going to the feast as my company, and if he ever gets uncomfortable to just tell me and we can walk back to his cave. He agrees and I make my way up the hill and past the tents and to the stone cavern where the big feast is being held to celebrate the Cheifs arrivals. The feast was big and loud and a feast of great proportions, there was two tables later out with many foods, a area that was cleared for music and dancing and a long table at the far end of the table where hiccup and the Cheifs and their wife's sat, sadly hiccup couldn't have Astrid sit next to him because they were not married so valka has taken up that seat, along with eret next to her. I quickly grabbed two plates and filled then with food, one for me and one for nip.

I had chosen to sit with the dragon riders at their table near the big table with the Cheifs. The night passed smoothly with lots of laughing and dancing along with many of ale barrels opens and drained. It was halfway through the night the time parents and young ones would leave and teens and adults would stay up longer and later. I was sitting and watching Gobber teach valka a dance he made up though he was many of mugs deep in drinking i wasn't the only one laughing at the sight. Clapping along to the music and stomping my feet to the sound of the drum I heard someone sit on the bench next to me not really looking at then assume if it's another rider or a suitor asking to dance I ignore them untill they clear their throat. " ahem, hello miss, may I just say you are looking radiant this night in the glow of the fire, my name is brad brought, son of the mighty Cheif Khad brought."

I pause before looking over at the boy, getting a good look at him, he was about my height a few inches taller sitting next to me, he had light brown hair and grey eyes and the such of just barely a mustache one that's thin and patchy, he was wearing a grin that would make any woman younger swoon but his eyes showed that he saw me as prey a trophy of sorts. I could feel a grower from Frigg start to bubble up before suppressing it, Nip senceing my discomfort wakes up and try's to see what the matter was withought giveing away his position.

" hello, broughtson, is there something you need or.... do you have any questions about burk?"

" burk? Oh no, I do however wonder why a lady like you ended up in such a barbaric and harsh village like this, your beauty should make you a princess and you should be worshiped"

I scoff, if anything I should show him the village of people who do worship me, I shift away slightly as he leaned in when speaking. Crossing my arms I answer him.

" I'm sorry to say brad broughtson, but if I was worshiped it would be because I am queen, not a mere princess, and if burk is barbaric then I would hate to see your village."

" oh you wound me, though I see your point and please call me brad, we are at a party after all and there's no reason to be formal..alayah? Isn't it? Why don't we join the outhers and dance with me?"

" sorry but, I'll decline the dance, I rather enjoy the rest of the night right here, I'm shure one of the younger gals from one of the villages would love to dance with you, mr. broughtson"

He doesn't like that so he huffs and sits back and I am relieved hopeing that he leaves the table and goes away, I see eret dancing with one of Cheif Ethan's daughters he catches my eye and looked a bit worried about the boy next to me but I smile and wave at him telling him that I'm ok.

" so... what do you do in the village? Beside give tours to visiting Cheifs? Let me guess.... hmm your a dress maker? Maybe a care taker? I don't see you doing much else that is "turning to look at him I raise my eyebrows with a small glare, oh I could slap a child and not get banished from the village I would. " actually, I work directly with dragons, healing them and working with them so they can live in the village, something very few people are able to do Sir broughtson. And I think it's time for me to leave because I have to go and return a dragon to their cave, isn't that right nip?"

Nip shows himself and crawls down my shoulder to lay in my arms his gaze never leaving the boy. While nip does that, brads eyes widen and he back peddles very fast and as far as he can away from me. " y-you has that - that THING?! This WHOLE TIME?! Wha-"

" oh nip? Yes I've been training him to be more comfortable around the villagers and the sounds he did very well tonight so he will get a reward, something that you would allways remember about burk is that there's allways a dragon watching broughtson, even when you don't think so, I hope you never have to meet the biggest one we have she's very protective and would've attacked you if you put a hand on me or harmed another villager. Well, I'm off to but him back now goodnight child."

I stand and make my way torwards the entrance passing by the table of Cheifs and telling valka and eret that I will be going to the dragon stables to put nip back and then retiring for the night, eret asks me about brad but I told him it was nothing serious and I would tell them both in the morning. I made a quick stop at the dragon caves placing nip back, many of the dragons who wander from here to the village live here or they sleep on the houses when they want, I stopped at a zippleback who was still awake and asked them for a favor." hello child I have a question for you"" yes elder? We will answer you question"" can you keep an eye on one of the Cheifs and his kin for me? I have a suspicion call it the fates or not but I don't trust them, and can you spread the word to the outhers so they know as well, I've told one of the villagers but unless something is serious toothlesses human brother just yet, but please let me know if anyone hears or sees anything please?"" of course anything for you ancient mother, we will spread the word and let the pack know" " thank you both I will do a favor for you when needed as well"

With a smile I leave the caves and head home, the thing about the zippleback dragons is that two heads can spread the word fast and they are avid gossipers, if you want any information ask a zippleback.
