42. Same dick?

Making it out into the busy streets of Denver, the four quickly joined in with the walking crowd, aiming to blend in. As the carried on walking Athena heard the woman on the speaker say 'WCKD is good' causing Athena to quietly scoff and roll her eyes.

"Infection checks" Gally said as the group walked into the building, seeing lines of people. "All you gotta do is sneeze round here, you get kicked out. That's the uh- price for paradise I guess." he said turning a corner.

Walking out of the station and onto the streets the group looked at the lit up city, Thomas, Newt and Athena all in awe of a world they have never seen.

"This is a long way from the Glade." Newt said looking up at the sky.

The same female voice from earlier announcing curfew in 15 minutes. "Why does all this give me dictator vibes." Athena said.

"That's what it is at this point." Newt answered. "I think anyway."

"Yeah, we better get off the streets." Gally advised. "And I know it's hard, but act like you've seen it before." he said, causing Athena to try to hide her giggling, "Really?" Gally asked, amused at her abnormal childishness.

"Sorry." she said, letting her giggle out, causing Newt and Gally to chuckle as they walked off.

As a police car passed, the four quickly ran across the road, and hid behind another building, as another car drove past. All pressing their backs against the store window. "They definitely upped security." Gally informed. "I'm guessing you shanks had something to do with that." he said, mainly glancing at Athena who discreetly pointed at Thomas. Rolling his eyes, "Alright let's get out of here." he said running off again.

"All right, Newt you're up." Gally said, as him and Thomas ran up and put their backs to one of the outlining walls of the city. Newt joined them and put both his feet into eachs palm and they lifted him up onto a ledge.

"Thea." Thomas said, the girl followed in suit, Newt grabbing her hand and pulling her up since she couldn't reach all the way.

"I forget how short you are sometimes." Newt chuckled, as he pulled her up.

"Shut up." She laughed, as she made it onto the ledge.

"I got it." Thomas said to Gally who was waiting to help him up. And jumped up holding a crook in the wall and grabbed onto the higher on and joined Newt and Athena, Gally doing the same.

The four quietly and steadily made their way up the wall through steps and ran across a ledge and up some more stairs, making their way to a safe balcony. "There it is." Gally said as Thomas walked up the remaining stairs. "If WCKD's got Minho that's where they'll be keeping him." he said pointing to the largest building in the city.

"Lawrence has been trying to find a way in for years." Gally said as he set up a telescope, and moved it around a bit. "Partly for revenge but other reasons too. But the place is crawling with soldiers. They got surveillance everywhere." he continued, "Scann--"

"Scanners on every floor." Athena interrupted him. "Yeah, I remember now." she said mournfully.

"Sounds like a bloody fortress." Newt commented, not wanting Athena to get upset. As he contracted and un-contracted his fist holding his wrist.

"Yeah, I thought you said you had a way in." Thomas said.

"I might." Gally said.

"Oh I know where this is going." Athena mumbled to Newt as she was in the far right corner.

"You might?" Thomas repeated bitterly. "What the hell do you mean might? Gally you said you could get us in there okay. We're following your lead here, we're trusting you. We don't have to do that." Thomas ranted.

"Thomas, just lay off him." Athena butted in.

"No, I will not off him, Athena." Thomas snapped back.

"Yeah. Alright. Let's get a few things straight first." Gally interrupted seeing the familiar pissed off face Athena's holding. "Otherwise, there's no point in going any further."

Gally paused, "Look, I know what I did, okay. I may not remember but I know. I see Chuck's face every time I close my eyes." Athena sent him a look of sympathy which he sent back, both now knowing the feeling of guilt of their pasts. "Look I know we don't have to be friends and I'm not asking for anybody's forgiveness. I'm asking we put it all behind us because we want the same thing.And after this, we can go our separate ways, until then none of this works until we trust each other."

As Newt sent a reassuring glance at Thomas, he finally spoke up breaking the long silence "Okay." he agreed.

"So." Athena said, "I think I know the answer but how are we getting in."

"Take a look." Gally mentioned at the telescope for Thomas as he moved out the way, and moved to stand with Athena and Newt. "I'm gonna need you to help with another part of the plan." He said lowly in Athena's ear.

"Which is."

"You gotta find a way to get us four into the building undetected, so we can stick with Teresa the entire time."

Seeing Thomas about to come away from the telescope she quickly turned to Gally discreetly and nodded.

"I said we had a way in." Gally said as Thomas continued to look forward. "I didn't say you were gonna like it."

"No. there's gotta be another way in." Thomas said, turning back round to the group who were all standing or sitting around the room.

"Like what? You've seen the building." Gally said handing Athena blueprints. "She is our only way into the building."

"You really think shes gonna help us?" Thomas asked.

"I don't plan on asking for her permission." Gally snapped back, causing Athena to smirk as she continued to look down at the blue prints.

"Am I missing something here?" Brenda asked. "This is the same girl who betrayed us. Correct? Same dick?"

"Bingo." Athena said pointing her pen at Brenda but keeping her eyes on the paper.

"I like her." Gally said pointing at Brenda.

"What's going on?" Brenda asked Thomas.

After a silence Newt spoke up, "What, are you afraid your little girlfriend's gonna get hurt?" he asked harshly glaring at Thomas, this comment making Athena look up at him and stand up straighter.

"Hmm?" he clenched his jaw, "This has obviously never just been about rescuing Minho. Has it?"

"Wait, what are you talking about?" Thomas asked, turning his body towards Newt.

"Teresa." Newt said standing up straight and walking towards Thomas. "She's the only reason Minho's even missing in the first place." he said his voice cracking. "Now we finally have an opportunity to get him back." he said as Thomas backed up but he continued to get in his face.

"And what? You don't want to because of her?" he asked as Thomas' back was against a wall, Jorge looked towards Athena seeing through her eyes a million thoughts going through her head as she watched Newt. "because deep down inside you still care about her, don't you?"

"Thea." Gally said quietly, seeing the girl frozen in her place, Jorge noticing too.

"Just admit it." Newt said still in Thomas' face.

"Newt, i--" he started but was cut off.

"Don't lie to me!" Newt shouted, pushing Thomas violently against the wall, causing the group to flinch. "Don't lie to me." he repeated as if something had taken over the original Newt.

Seeing his eyes soften Newt slowly unclenched his jaw and backed away seeing what he was doing. "Sorry" he said to Thomas, as he breathed heavily. "I'm sorry" he said to the group, avoiding looking at Athena but could see the look of fright mixed with sadness in her eyes. Newt slowly walked out of the room.

Thomas looked back at the group, "Go." Athena told him.
