Chapter Four

06:51, 15 February 2023

- 6:44 -

Bryce's eyes slowly fluttered open, to see an open, plugged in computer. Texty! He thought. I haven't told her what happened yet!

"soo you gonna say anything or what?" Texty asked.

"Okay, I have no idea where to start this so I'll just let you ask questions while I get ready for work." Bryce responded. He got up from his chair, only for his head to throb in pain. He groaned in pain. He squeezed his eyes shut and stretched. He did not want to deal with this pain right now.

He cracked two eggs on the stove to eat. He looked back at the table, covered in beer cans.

"why is liam asleep on your bed?"

"He... well, he got struck by lightning over on the smokestack..."

"HE WHAT?!" The text-to-speech generator didn't capture her shock, but Bryce could tell just as well.

"He held up my keys after I went up there to ask for them, presumably to throw them, and, well, the lightning struck him."

"why are there beer cans on the table?"

"Listen, I'd prefer to not talk about that right now." He pushed the beer cans to the side and set down his plate, and began eating.

"c'mon, you said you'd answer my questions!"

"I said I'd let you ask questions."

"could you please just tell me?"

"Fine, I couldn't sleep and needed something to keep me from crying." He spoke with his mouth full.

"gee, the bryce hansen? crying?"

"Hey, you're the one who asked me to tell you!"

"fair point, i guess"

Bryce got up, slowly this time so he didn't get an even worse headache, stuffed the rest of the food in his mouth, and opened the door. "Hey, could you make sure to keep it down? I don't want my neighbors thinking theres some ghost watching cat videos in the apartment."

"aight"

Bryce walked out the door, closing and locking it behind him, and headed off to work.
